I had mine last Friday after Nottinghamshire accidentally allowed younger people to sign up than they should have done. I expected them to cancel mine once they had realised but they decided to honour those who had already signed up.

 

Had a pretty ropey weekend as a result, definitely had flu like symptoms and excessive tiredness but they only lasted about 48 hours as predicted and then all the shivers, aches, lethargy etc suddenly disappeared in the space of about 5 mins on Sunday.

I’m still waiting to hear from mine and I don’t mean to be rude but I’m so fed up of reading about people staying at home getting it when I’m due mine and facing 150 people from outside my family with little social distancing every single day and I’ve heard nothing. And my mum turned hers down again yesterday and I don’t know why they’re wasting time on a moron like her and ignoring me. Sorry, I know I sound like an absolute prick. I’m stressed out of my mind right now with all the exam crap and the amount of work I now need to complete. I’m also very aware that the kids are not in a good place and I think we’re going about everything the wrong way and the mental health of the children is not being considered enough. Not is the well being of the staff.

I still feel going by age is the best and fairest way to do it but I've read a few reports of people purposely skipping queues to get vaccinated and morally it just doesn't sit very well with me. I've a couple of friends who have got the jab because they have been called up.. some flimsy reasons the GP decided they needed the vaccine, but it is what it is.

 

I wonder if the Under 40s might get the Moderna/J&J vaccines? They're suspected to come in to supply in April/May which lines up with when the Under 40s get their jabs.

Have you tried just booking a vaccine appointment on the website? If that is the group that has started then you should be able to try that way rather than waiting to hear from them.

I was really shocked when I got the call as I’m 38. The surgery just rang me randomly there. I assume they had extra and administered it out to under the age groups to anyone vulnerable - I’m asthmatic.

Looks like Germany is extending its lockdown by 3 weeks due to the third wave.

 

In a country that only has first vaccination for 9% of people it seems the only safe decision.

In the UK it is 2,532,839 according to the latest Government figures. It's slowly ramping up, which is a good sign. Be interesting to see if cases do spike up in the next couple of weeks with the increase in cases within Europe.

Guess the 12 weeks since Jan will mean more are getting the second dose now, still low though. Will be September before the population has both doses and thats without any setbacks.

Yeh I mean do politicans not realise that this sincerity goes well with the electorate these days instead of never admitting fault. Johnson admitted many things were done wrong but wrapped it up with all the hindsight stuff.

It’s a complete cluster f*** around making Thursday a quasi public holiday at such short notice. Business went mental at the idea of having to pay folk not to work for a day and industry turned round and told her to whistle if she thought they could shut factories on that kind of notice.

 

Mainly is the point everyone made that this would make exactly zero difference to the mess. We have to wear FFP2 masks in stores anyway and infections are not happening in stores. We have the data that evidences that fact. And 5 days does f*** all. Especially when absolutely nothing is legally allowed to open on Fri, Sun and Mon anyway!!!! This would have turned an already mental supermarket shop on Saturday into Armageddon and likewise the Weds before the shutdown.

 

Allegedly a million invites have gone out for jags in Berlin but only 360k have taken up. But I don’t buy that Group 1 has a million folks in it so that must include Group 2 which is my group and I’ve had no invite so I don’t buy it. Especially as we haven’t had a million doses as a city either. National statistics say we’ve had like 600k doses so far from the central stock. Something about this just doesn’t add up. Although if I had the letter I could book to get the AZ jag today. Waiting more than 3 weeks if you want to have one of the mRNA ones.

 

 

CDU/CSU polling is in free fall right now over the mess that is the vaccine roll out. Because we have *millions* of doses that aren’t being used because the Germans are too entrenched in their rules to think creatively or flex them to get the best outcome.

As an outsider who doesnt see the day to day goings on in Germany I always got the feeling Merkel was like a figure nearly above politics like a president but thats maybe just the outsider look at it. SHows how good a politican she has been and is.
