October 20, 20213 yr My work is completely flexible which is good. Can do anything from 5 days a week to literally never stepping foot in the office again. I know it's different for other companies though, my old firm (a much bigger organisation) I've heard is mandating at least 2 days a week. Guess from their point of view they don't want to paying a shitload in central London office space for no one to be using it.
October 20, 20213 yr Apparently from December my workplace are going to make it compulsory to go into the office at least two days a week, however at the moment I'm going in 2 days a week of my own volition anyway as working from home drives me CRAZY and I definitely get so much more done at the office.
October 20, 20213 yr Weird time to make office work compulsory in the peak of winter with flu and covid infections - would there be enough space for all staff with social distancing? Do you need to be vaccinated? Just curious.
October 20, 20213 yr As if work from home, which a lot of people are still doing anyway, would make much difference. I work where the spread is and I won’t be able to work from home.
October 20, 20213 yr Interesting - what reasons are they giving? I can understand some teambuilding work etc but people generally find that unless everyone is working on site then meetings have to be done via zoom/teams etc and also that people get more work done at home. Not to mention environmental footprint reduced and personal costs saving on transport and fares. We are in that exact position and I kind of like going in to break the week up and when you manager is sitting there it’s easier asking questions instead of emailing and waiting half an hour on a response. Also with my baby coming in new year I will be making sure I’m in all the time
October 21, 20213 yr Are masks not used in England any more?? Haven't been for months, and most people have resorted to not wearing them except at work where the company is forcing them to (Literally watch dozens of people take them off as they leave my work places only to cram onto a full bus most days  )
October 21, 20213 yr Plan B also includes vaccine passports for hispitality. Don’t see how that wasn’t part of plan A tbh.
October 21, 20213 yr Don’t see how that wasn’t part of plan A tbh. Same here but they have a health secretary over there with a hard on for Ayn Rand so individual responsibility is the order of the day. That’s working out well….
October 21, 20213 yr I was pleasantly surprised to see a decent level of mask compliance in Dundee! Was expecting way worse but was only a few fannies kicking about but less than I was expecting which was nice. Heading to the capital at the weekend tho which will be interesting to see how that compares.
October 22, 20213 yr Well that's it. The Tories have killed mask wearing. Apparently they don't have to wear them cos they know eachother, that's great I probably know the near 100 people who do my commute on a tiny bus about as well so can expect them all (of the very few who were still wearing them) to ditch them.
October 22, 20213 yr This shows why this country is f*cked - idiotic comments like this don't get any proper criticism on by the main papers - or I bet the BBC or our pathetic joke of an opposition leader. Yesterday we had Dominic Cummings going right out and saying his former boss was responsible for killing 150K people and again no one gives a monkeys. Well the people affected obviously do but not enough to upset the Tory base. Edited October 22, 20213 yr by Smint
October 22, 20213 yr Author Cases sky rocketing across Europe now with some on even steeper trajectories than the UK started with. The UK is just weeks ahead, this Delta strain is a bitch although I hope other countries don't learn from our strategy as I don't agree with it fully. 'sick man of Europe'
October 22, 20213 yr 'sick man of Europe' The reason our cases are so high is because the Tories delayed giving jabs to school children while many other Europeans started vaccinating them before they returned to school. The problem now is a massive increase of cases in schools combined with waning immunity in the community and still a large proportion of younger people who aren’t getting vaccinated. The government is also to blame for removing mitigation measures such as masks, mass testing or passports for large events which are largely in place in many other European countries and complacency which has now set in as a result of mixed messaging. It’s a catalogue of failures one after another which paints a picture of sheer incompetence on a grand scale and they are about to make another mistake by not taking any action to address the problem. Relying solely on getting people vaccinated is not enough while cases are so high. You need a proper track and trace system along with other measures to be reintroduced. October 22, 20213 yr No restrictions vs common sense restrictions (mandatory masks, social distancing, and widespread use of covid passports) You can see the clear difference between say Italy or France who have a strong Vax Passport vs Germany who have a looser scheme never mind vs the UK with absolutely nothing at all. Goes to show really how effective even these smaller measures actually are.
October 23, 20213 yr f***ing got it aint i  not been out without a mask since the start and the ONE day saturday for my aunties 60th not wearing one I get it.. gah feel like death tbh
