Derbyshire Police are at it again -

- in the spring lockdown it was chasing pensioners taking their dog for a walk with drones.

Today it is two women going for a socially distanced walk.

As Lord Sumption said of them "Derbyshire Police have shamed our policing traditions". A complete disgrace.

Absolutely ridiculous. There’s nothing in the law that specifies you can’t travel for exercise and to classify carrying a hot drink as a picnic is absurd and clearly shows more training is needed.

The fact they think two people walking in a vast open space was one of the biggest issues of the day is shocking.

You can rub shoulders with just anyone in the supermarket and apparently schools are safe.

But go for a walk socially distanced in a massive open space, that’s a danger to all.

London likely to run out of hospital capacity within weeks.

I read yesterday that there's hope in London as it's now levelling out. You don't know what to believe.

I understand not travelling outwith your local area but if you live local than going for a walk is both safe and healthy. Derbyshire cops taking the absolute piss
Today’s daily death toll is 1,325, surpassing the April peak

and it's only going to go up sadly :(

Christmas cases are creeping in now and we know it translates to deaths further down the line

Too many people breaking the rules. During yesterday’s press conference, Boris was calling people out who were filming hospitals, claiming that they were empty

Won't that more to be with London hospitals at breaking point so they don't want people to go outside.

So if you have a car crash or break your back on ice, you might not have covid but you can't get a hospital bed. It will be to limit other 'regular' admissions rather than to stop covid.

The deaths are only going to go up, you could plausibly have a day of 2000 people dying. I imagine it will average out around c.1500.

National Express coaches have said that they are suspending all their services from 23:59 on Sunday and won't start again until at least March. They say numbers of passengers now don't make it worthwhile running the services. Business people who can travel will have to go by train. Apparently they've had coaches with 1 or 2 people on them this week and their fares doesn't even cover the cost of fuel.

I'm not sure I can see schools opening right after February half-term next month (which I think is the plan atm?)

Yep can't see that at all. Another hopelessly optimistic target.

It was a date thrown out but I don’t think it’s been an actual plan. In Wales they said 18th Jan but have just extended to February and will no doubt go beyond that.

These numbers are horrific. I hear that a lot of schools in England are still very full because they’ve broadened the definition of key worker and they’re also allowing children in who have one parent at home that isn’t a key worker when the other one is. And instead of setting kids up with the technology he promised last year, he has said they can go into school if they don’t have the technology. As long as all this is going on, we won’t see a fall in numbers. I’m so glad I’m in Wales and so can take no notice of Williamson.

From Wednesday no-one will be able to enter the UK unless they've had a negative Covid test at an airport and have a valid passport and visa. There's a rush to book flights by the 100,000+ people abroad at present.

It’s amazing to think there even are 100,000 people abroad right now.

Having said that, I haven’t seen my neighbour since just after Christmas and when I did he was putting a suitcase in his car.

A lot in sunny warm Dubai apparently. Escaping this cold obviously.

A lot will have been shafted by the UK being declared plague island before Xmas and a lot of airlines cancelling flights so a number will probably have expected to be back by now but BA keep cancelling the flight. (Speaking from experience)
