December 10, 20205 yr I don’t want it to drop off the charts though? And it would be deserving of the most weeks at number one so what’s the problem? You would rather have fake #1s? This forums double standards never fail to astound. When ACR is brought in to stop Drake having 19643 weeks at number 1 it's good to manipulate the charts. When the 3 songs rule is introduced to stop Ed Sheeran having every position in the top 10 it is relief. Both those things manipulate the chart already so that certain songs and artists don't dominate the charts because of streaming. Why shouldn't something else be introduced to stop Mariah and the onslaught of Christmas songs, because she is a female buzz jack fave? If the OCC have already identified that streaming can let certain artists and songs dominate for too long creating a stale boring chart and done something about that they should absolutely do the same for Christmas songs. December 10, 20205 yr I don't know how this has suddenly become a "Buzzjack loves female artists lol" kinda thing? The issue here is different. ACR doesn't wipe out older songs entirely, it dulls their effect so we can get the best of both worlds - popular songs hang around well and new music can climb higher, faster. At this time of year, people CHOOSE to listen to Christmas songs (Mariah being just one of many). Their effect is already lessened by ACR - the OCC has dealt with their impact by introducing the permanent ACR rule for songs over 3 years old. There's not really much more they can do, short of removing them outright which is a far more ludicrous and over-the-top suggestion than ACR ever was.

So it's a good thing when the charts let new music climb but just not in December obviously.
December 10, 20205 yr So it's a good thing when the charts let new music climb but just not in December obviously. But people don't want to hear new music right now. The most-streamed non-Christmas song isn't even at 300k daily Spotify streams - that's VERY low!
December 10, 20205 yr It isn’t much lower than what we’ve seen throughout the year though, is it? I for one definitely want to hear new music and I’m definitely not the only one.

December 10, 20205 yr But people don't want to hear new music right now. The most-streamed non-Christmas song isn't even at 300k daily Spotify streams - that's VERY low! How many big new songs are being released because they know they will get swallowed up by Christmas songs and 300k isn't much below average and certainly not for an 8 week old 'new' song. Let's just hope Ed Sheeran releases a Christmas song next year and then everyone on here will call for an end to the Christmas songs dominance and the OCC might actually do something about it.

Yes, everyone will suddenly start hating Christmas songs just because Ed Sheeran releases one.
December 10, 20205 yr so Mariah is extending her lead and Jess still top 10, Amazon must be reporting crazy (made up) figures :D but works for Mariah this week unbelievable that Mendes is gonna miss the top 10

Any update on where Steps are today?
December 10, 20205 yr Yes at Mariah, surely its dead cert now. Why has Kelly fell 2 places too 😩hope it can climb back up one to top 15
December 10, 20205 yr so Mariah is extending her lead and Jess still top 10, Amazon must be reporting crazy (made up) figures :D but works for Mariah this week unbelievable that Mendes is gonna miss the top 10 Even though that Amazon have reported their streams and Spotify and YouRube haven’t reported all of theirs yet, Mariah is still ahead of Jess by at least 13k.
December 10, 20205 yr Is that Shawn with his bundles added in or have they still not been? This era is near enough mirroring Camila's a year ago.
December 10, 20205 yr Any update on where Steps are today? Mine are still between my hall and landing if that helps.
December 10, 20205 yr Is that Shawn with his bundles added in or have they still not been? Still not dispatched :drama:
December 10, 20205 yr Any update on where Steps are today? #14 L.MIX are #12 on albums ? You answered your own question if that helps :D
December 10, 20205 yr On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely do you think it is that Mariah will be number 1 in the UK tomorrow?
