I assume it's because for filiming everyone had to isolate before it went ahead. With guest judges you would be adding in new people every week which could be risky - even if they did isolate before coming on the show. Or maybe they've got another very special line up this season and want to keep it as a surprise?
December 28, 20204 yr I know for Drag Race U.K. they had guest judges during covid and had plastic screens between the judges or a socially distanced panel similar to Drag Race Holland- Dawn French judged during the pandemic
December 28, 20204 yr AS6 I'm sure I read has just a few guest judges and they're rotating like Ross and Carson do, idk if they're gonna do similar for S13 or just have Ross and Carson. AS6 was filmed after S13 so I guess maybe S13 was a bit harder logistically and by AS6 it was a bit easiet to plan and know what they were doing. I didn't think about guest judges actually til now despite the UK ones being revealed :lol:
December 28, 20204 yr Act 1 of the firt episode is on Youtube now, looks like the queens are lipsyncing in pairs as they arrive it's not like a main challenge with them all at the same time, which I really like actually! They've got Ross and Carson judging with a perspex screen between each judge - that may be it all season as that would work. Not all RuPaul songs for the lipsyncs either!! GbrjXC07LWw
December 28, 20204 yr Also this might be unpopular bc it certainly seems to be on Twitter where they worship the ground she walks on, but this first look did nothing to convince me about Kandy, I actually thought her shading Aja about 83 times at any opportunity when she probably wouldn't be on the show without her was kinda shitty. She just seems loud and annoying and kinda rude but damn can the girl lipsync, I'll give her that!!

December 28, 20204 yr I really like that they're doing that, it's a different way to split them up than just random and if we have the ostensibly weaker ones in one episode, it gives some of them a chance to shine and not be overshadowed by the bigger characters or better performers. In saying that, losing a lipsync doesn't necessarily mean that you are bad, look at say Trixie or Katya who never really won lipsyncs but are hilarious and have other talents. But still, I think it's a fresh take which the show definitely needs 13 seasons in.

The next two are a split challenge like the first two of S12, with a lipsync for your legacy of the top 2, and then episode 4 everyone comes together and that's the first elimination.

Is the season a few epsiodes longer than usual then? Otherwise I assume there's a double elimination at some point.
