Posted December 12, 20204 yr https://www.musicweek.com/digital/read/kany...-in-2020/082157 Quite an interesting list here! 1. Kanye West 2. Sarah Harding 3. Russell Watson 4. Bugzy Malone 5. Grimes 6. Duffy 7. Meghan Trainor 8. Wiley 9. Nicola Roberts 10. HRVY All of these I can think of why they'd be here (reality shows and focus in the news mainly), but I can't think of why Meghan Trainor would be up here?
December 12, 20204 yr Meghan joined The Voice UK as a coach this year! Love seeing two Girls Aloud members on the list, though I wish Sarah featured for better reasons :(
December 12, 20204 yr Author Meghan joined The Voice UK as a coach this year! Ah that makes sense! Might see Anne-Marie there next year then
December 12, 20204 yr Basically none of these are on the list for reasons related to their actual music. Lol ~ (I had to look up Russell Watson which shows how little I paid attention to I'm A Celebrity this year oops) I saw a similar list to this for the US (or possibly worldwide, I forget) and it had Shakira at #1, which seemed pretty odd until realising that her Super Bowl performance - which feels like ancient history at this point - was in fact this year.
December 12, 20204 yr I dunno nicola roberts won the masked singer people could of been searching for her own music
December 12, 20204 yr Russell Watson has the best selling album and even that barely scraped the top ten. Ye of course will do better when he releases.
December 12, 20204 yr I dunno nicola roberts won the masked singer people could of been searching for her own music Her album went up iTunes after she won, but it didn’t make the official top 100.
December 12, 20204 yr I dunno nicola roberts won the masked singer people could of been searching for her own music That argument can be made for everyone else on the list too. The point is they're on there for reasons other than releasing music.
December 12, 20204 yr Author I'm surprised there aren't any up there for actually releasing music though, like Taylor Swift for example with folklore coming out of nowhere.
December 12, 20204 yr I don't think people have any need to google Taylor Swift :D One can go to streaming services and listen her music.
December 12, 20204 yr Why is Duffy there? She revealed earlier this year that she was kidnapped and raped in 2010 IIRC. Very sad story and explains why she just dropped out of the spotlight at the time. :(
December 12, 20204 yr I don't think people have any need to google Taylor Swift :D One can go to streaming services and listen her music. I made a point in the Girls Aloud forum that the big musicians of the year are all very accessible through social media and being reported in the news; in other words, they don't need to be searched for in Google, whereas the names on this list aren't so accessible and you can imagine the audiences of some shows thinking "who???" when it comes to the likes of HRVY and Meghan Trainor.
December 12, 20204 yr Yeah exactly. And in Ye's case, it's just the WTF factor, president candidacy and stuff  Edited December 12, 20204 yr by Sour Candy
December 12, 20204 yr Sarah  honestly I didn't even know, I just was reading up, its heart breaking, and so young at 39
December 12, 20204 yr If you type all of these people's names on the Google trends website you will be able to see which period of the year specifically that the most searches were made for them which will help make it clearer why they got so many searches.
