Biography

The Kosovo-born Regard originally became known in the Balkans as a DJ and producer within the electronic dance scene before moving into the vocal deep house scene around 2016. Regard quickly made a name for himself with his online mixes, DJ appearances, and the release of his own tracks, including the singles "Dream," "Sun Goes Down," and "You're Mine." Although his reworking of Jay Sean's "Ride It" had been floating around since 2017, the track suddenly blew up after gaining exposure online, eventually going viral. The track was snapped up by Ministry of Sound, and the label officially released it in July 2019. It topped the charts in Mexico, the U.K., and Europe, and remixes followed by the likes of Jonas Blue and Franky Wah. Regard rounded out 2019 performing the track live with Jay Sean at London's O2. The song "Secrets" with RAYE arrived in April 2020 and cracked the Top Ten of the U.K. singles chart. - Apple Music

Wow at Ride It being higher than Secrets!

I like both - Ride It is an improvement on the original for me though it was always a good tune.

Biography

West London grime MC Che Wolton Grant (aka AJ Tracey) rose through the ranks of pirate radio, becoming one of the leading figures in U.K. grime's second generation of artists. Grant knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in music, due in part to his parents; not only was his dad a former rapper from Trinidad & Tobago, his mother was a former drum'n'bass DJ from Wales. By age six, Grant had started writing rhymes, coinciding with the first great boom in grime. Although the genre temporarily lost its way, Grant soldiered on, unwilling to give up on his passion for grime. By the time he had reached his early twenties, grime had started another upswing. During this time Grant became proactive in his pursuit of radio spots, working his way up through pirate radio before scoring appearances on Rinse.DM, NTS, and eventually even BBC Radio One.

With his reputation in the world of radio firmly cemented, Grant released a string of EPs, beginning with The Front EP in July 2015, followed by the Alex Moran EP later the same year. In 2016, he further solidified his status as an emerging talent, with a combination of solid collaborations, more radio appearances, and the release of the Lil Tracey EP. The end of 2016 culminated with Grant's nomination yo BBC's Sound of 2017. That year saw him release a handful of EPs and singles including Secure the Bag and "False 9," as well as dabbling in production on "LA4AWeek." The following year Tracey delivered his first U.K. Top 20 single, "Butterflies," followed by the Top 40 single "Lo(v/s)er." Alongside the release of the singles, Tracey also worked on his debut album. The self-titled release dropped at the beginning of 2019, featuring a wide range of influences, including Afrobeat, dancehall, and country. - Apple Music

'Dinner Guest' has been my biggest turnaround with a song in a while! Originally didn't like it but then I returned to it post-'West Ten' and belatedly fell in love with it

Biography

The way she tells it, Megan Thee Stallion only jumped on the mic to impress a guy. She’d been writing, but she hadn’t really opened it up in public before. But this was college, and the boys were freestyling, and she’d had a couple of drinks. “I didn’t know how it was gonna turn out,” she told Apple Music in 2019. “I just knew I wasn’t finna look weak.” Rapper, yes: clever, commanding, funny, filthy. But she's also become a kind of avatar for supreme self-confidence, the Hot Girl out to make Hotness broader, more inclusive, a state you embrace for yourself instead of having conferred on you by someone else.

Born Megan Pete in 1995 and raised in the South Park neighborhood of Houston, the Up Next honoree and 2020 Apple Music Awards Breakthrough Artist of the Year grew up on hardcore Southern stuff: Three 6 Mafia and UGK, Pimp C especially. Early cyphers went viral—the presence was ferocious, the flow precise. Her key tracks, from tunes like “Big Ole Freak” to the 2020 Cardi B collaboration juggernaut “WAP,” don't just carry the torch of Houston rap but a legacy of trash talk that goes back to Lil’ Kim and The Notorious B.I.G.—characters so big they read like comic books (Pete is, unsurprisingly, a lifelong anime fan). Like any great rapper, she can put the same few things to you a thousand different ways. “Put him on his knees, give him somethin' to believe in,” she raps on Cardi B's “WAP.” And in case Megan's intentions weren’t clear, consider this, from “Captain Hook”: “I like to drink and I like to have sex.” Weak? Doesn’t seem like an issue. - Apple Music

Savage is great in both versions, nice to see it top 40.

Dinner Guest was rather good too, excellent sample usage in the production particularly and AJ/Mostack have good chemistry on it.

Thought the original of this was awful but really like this version - probably the biggest improvement via a remix of the year. Not counting Roses which I’d probably have never heard without the remix!
