West Ten may've been very much a Ladbroke Grove part 2 but always great to have a bit of garage doing well, and AJ is a great rapper for this type of beat.

Biography

Kygo

Kygo turned the dance-music world on its ear in the simplest way possible: by slowing down. The Norwegian producer (born Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll in 1991) cut his teeth crafting bootleg remixes of songs like Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die” and James Blake’s “The Wilhelm Scream”, fleshing out the originals with contrasting touches: EDM drops inspired by his fondness for Avicii and ruminative melodies reflective of his childhood piano studies. In 2013, layering an a cappella of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” over dancing marimbas and a teasingly measured 4/4 beat, he hit upon his slow-motion signature. The following year, he was called up to replace an ailing Avicii on Tomorrowland’s main stage, and his relaxed, sunny vibe stopped EDM’s harder-faster-louder ethos in its tracks. Kygo’s dreamy, pioneering tropical house—encapsulated in singles like the lilting “Firestone” and his even-more-weightless remix of a-ha’s “Take On Me”—cast its influence across the pop music landscape, reaching as far as Skrillex, Diplo and Justin Bieber’s smash, “Where Are Ü Now”, and securing Kygo collabs with Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Miguel and Imagine Dragons. - Apple Music

Whitney Houston

With a towering voice and a singing style that was rooted in revival halls and massive arenas, Whitney Houston helped define pop-R&B in the late 20th century. Born in Newark, NJ, to gospel singer Cissy Houston in 1963, Houston, a model and singer in her younger years, was taken under the wing of legendary music mogul Clive Davis in 1983. Her 1985 self-titled debut was a blockbuster, her voice lending power and poignancy to singles like the slow-burning “Saving All My Love For You,” the buoyant “How Will I Know,” and the inspirational “The Greatest Love of All.” Its 1987 follow-up, Whitney, blended the glittery club hits “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “So Emotional” with emotion-packed ballads such as “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” further establishing Houston as one of the decade’s premier pop stars. She took the U.S. national anthem to church at Super Bowl XXV in 1991, and in 1992 she starred in the pop romance The Bodyguard, which had a Whitney-focused soundtrack that included her world-conquering version of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” That year she also married R&B singer Bobby Brown, with whom she’d have one child, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Houston had star turns on film and on record with 1995’s Waiting to Exhale and 1997's The Preacher’s Wife, and on the next year’s My Love Is Your Love, she teamed up with other female stars of R&B and hip-hop, including Mariah Carey and Missy Elliott. In the 2000s, Houston stepped away from the pop spotlight, appearing on Brown's TV show. She passed away in February 2012, leaving a recorded legacy that singers all over the world still strive to emulate. - Apple Music

Biography

The Killers dropped English synth-pop down into their glitzy, scuzzy Las Vegas world, and a familiar sound became brand new. The group launched in 2001, when frontman Brandon Flowers—then working in casinos—answered a advert from guitarist Dave Keuning; they wrote their breakout single, “Mr. Brightside”, at their first meeting. Rounded out by drummer Ronnie Vannucci and bassist Mark Stoermer, they rose to popularity with 2004’s glammy, post-punk Hot Fuss, its single "Somebody Told Me" a cheeky summary of a million conversations in the clubs. While initially seeming like a flashier counterpart to the dourness of The Strokes and Interpol, The Killers traded synthesisers for more guitars in the early 2000s, introducing a new sound akin to U2 and Springsteen on albums like 2006’s Sam’s Town and 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful. They do believe in love and rock, but they seem to feel a little sheepish about it as they get ready to go out. They returned in 2020 with their sixth album, Imploding the Mirage, and the Lindsey Buckingham-assisted single “Caution”. The song serves as both a return to roots and a mission statement for their future, as Flowers told Apple Music that it reminded The Killers of a universal truth: "Rock 'n' roll can be transcendent.” - Apple Music

Meduza

MEDUZA have spent the year leading the charge in returning house music to daytime radio, and succeeding. Their debut release, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ featuring Goodboys, has now seen over a billion streams globally, reaching double platinum (1.2m units) in the UK alone and peaking at #2 on the Official UK Charts. This trend has followed Meduza globally, with multi Diamond, Platinum and Gold certifications around the world and a GRAMMY nomination. The follow up, ‘Lose Control’ with Goodboys and Becky Hill, has made an unprecedented impact, reaching the UK Top40 in its first week, now notching upward of 450 million cumulative streams, reaching Gold sales in the UK in less than 3 months. These headline successes are also bolstered by an impressive catalogue of hand picked remixes for the likes of MK, R+, Dermot Kennedy and Ritual, displaying not only Meduza’s signature sound and energy, but also the raw ability to create a stand out release whenever called upon. The touring diary for Meduza shows an almost insatiable demand for the hottest act in dance music, with El Row, Exit in Serbia, EDC Mexico and Las Vegas standing alongside smaller underground clubs like Fabric in London, The Rex in Paris, Toffler in Rotterdam, Amnesia Milan to name but a few key venues and events scaling the globe. Tours of Australia, Europe, South America and the United States already crowd the upcoming diary for 2020 promising to expose Meduza to millions of fans over summer. - Spotify

Becky Hill

With her highly resonant voice and R&B-influenced style, Becky Hill first came to the public's attention competing on series one of The Voice UK. Ultimately reaching the show's semifinal round, Hill emerged a fan favorite and became the first Voice UK contestant to score a number one single when "Gecko (Overdrive)," her collaboration with Dutch EDM star Oliver Heldens, topped the U.K. singles chart in June 2014.

Born on February 14, 1994 in Bewdley, Worcestershire, England, Hill was no stranger to music when she first auditioned for the then new The Voice UK in 2012. As a teenager, she had sung with the acoustic rock & soul group Shaking Trees, which created some local buzz and received several plays on BBC Radio. On The Voice UK she made it to the semifinal with her powerful renditions of R&B songs by the likes of John Legend and others, before being eliminated. By her own admission, she was a novice in the music industry game and it took her 18 months to finally get a record deal. In the meantime, however, her sultry, soulful, older-than-her-years voice was highly sought-after by dance artists looking for feature vocalists. Her first recorded appearance, on British drum'n'bass artist Wilkinson's single "Afterglow," went to number eight on the U.K. singles chart. She then appeared on Rudimental's single "Powerless," singing with them at several U.K. festivals in 2013, including Glastonbury.

Following her success with Heldens, Hill worked extensively with London-based dance producer MNEK and issued her debut solo single, "Caution to the Wind." It showcased a shift toward a more electronica-influenced sound, with twinkling melodies and production reminiscent of Four Tet. The Eko EP appeared in 2017, and included the single "Unpredictable." The single "Sunrise in the East" followed a year later. In 2019, Hill issued a pair of upbeat singles, "I Could Get Used to This," which featured Weiss, and "Wish You Well," which featured Sigala. - Apple Music

Goodboys

Grammy Award-nominated and Global chart topping Artist/Writer/Producer duo Goodboys are a rare talent. Their infectious hooks and melodies drive their music straight to the memory of anyone fortunate enough to hear them and has taken them to multi-platinum success all around the world. From meeting each other in 2014, best mates Josh Grimmett and Ethan Shore shared a passion for electronic and pop music and now bring their unique style to the global stage. Their sound blends the dark energy of dance music, with the poppier, melodic, user-friendly euphoria more commonly heard on the radio, happily striking a perfect balance between the two. Their debut release, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ with Meduza, has now seen over a billion streams globally, reaching double platinum (1.2m units) in the UK alone and peaking at #2 on the Official UK Charts. This trend has followed globally, with multi Diamond, Platinum and Gold certifications around the world and a GRAMMY nomination. The follow up, ‘Lose Control’ with Becky Hill, has made an unprecedented impact, reaching the UK Top40 in its first week, now notching upward of 450 million cumulative streams, reaching platinum sales in the UK. - Spotify

Biography

Chris Brown

Greeted with comparisons to young Michael Jackson and Usher, Chris Brown arrived in 2005 as a squeaky-clean pop-R&B artist with "Run It!," the first debut single by a male artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in over a decade. While there was nowhere to go but down, at least in terms of chart positions, the singer, dancer, and occasional rapper was only getting started. Within a few years, Brown became one of the biggest active pop stars with Chris Brown (2005) and Exclusive (2007), multi-platinum albums that produced five more Top Ten singles, including "Kiss Kiss" and "Forever." As a featured artist or duettist, he added to the count with hits such as "No Air," a ballad with Jordin Sparks. By the end of the decade, Brown underwent a stylistic makeover during which his forebears shifted to the likes of Jodeci, R. Kelly, and 2Pac. This, and a more drastic change in public image, did little to slow his commercial momentum. His streak of Top Ten albums was sustained with releases such as Graffiti (2009), the Grammy-winning F.A.M.E. (2011), and Fortune (2012). Brown's artistic scope has since continued to widen with Heartbreak on a Full Moon (2017) and Indigo (2019), albums as long as epic films. - Apple Music

Young Thug

You don’t get a lot of warning for an artist like Young Thug. From his warped delivery to his radical, gender-fluid fashion sense, the Atlanta rapper (born Jeffery Lamar Williams in 1991) flies in the face of every unspoken rule for what hip-hop is, should, and could be. Starting with a prolific run of mixtapes in the early 2010s, Thug rose by pioneering a weird, ever-shifting flow somewhere between singing, rapping, mumbling and squawking—pushing rap forward by pulling it apart. But the weirdest thing about what he does is that it works: Nearly every project Thug’s released since 2015—from the reggae-inflected JEFFREY to the country-ish sides of Beautiful Thugger Girls—has cracked the mainstream, laying the groundwork for a new crop of fellow eccentrics like Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti. In other words, Thug hasn’t adjusted to convention but brought convention to him. Genuinely experimental, he frames his process in modest terms: “I’m in the studio so much, I’ll just try stuff,” he told The FADER in 2013. “I just think and try, think and try.” - Apple Music

Biography

When singer-songwriter Billie Eilish feels something new, the first thing she does is take out her phone and write it down. “You can write anything,” she told Apple Music in an interview for the Up Next series. “You can say the truth, and you can not tell anyone that it’s the truth—you can just write it, and it’ll be yours.” Raised and homeschooled in Los Angeles by actor/musician parents, Eilish (born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell in 2001) started writing songs when she was around 11, exploring a strain of melancholy, minimal, and slightly surrealistic pop influenced as much by Lana Del Rey as the radical honesty of rappers like Tyler, the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. Writing and recording with her brother—and producer—FINNEAS at their parents’ house, Eilish released dont smile at me in 2017, followed by an ever-evolving series of singles—a prime example of the fact that, in the streaming era, artists are now free to move directly from their bedrooms into the spotlight. Hardly two years later, she’d released the Grammys-slaying WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO?, an experimental-pop opus that explored mental health and all manner of sleep phenomena, totally upending the notions of what constitutes pop music in 2020. (She also won the inaugural Apple Music Award for Global Artist of the Year.) Despite the attention, Eilish is doing her best to stake out a space of freedom and fluidity, expanding her range of collaborators (Vince Staples, Khalid) and dodging easy definition. “If people think I have a sound, if people are like, ‘Oh yeah, her sound is this,’ if someone asks you what my sound is and you have an answer for them—you’re wrong,” she said. “Instead of trying to find a sound, when I want to make something and when I have an idea of what I want to make, I’m just going to make that.” - Apple Music

'No Time To Die' is my favourite from the few new Billie releases this year  the moment I started taking notice of her as a vocalist more.
This is very much a 5/10 song for me - it's not bad and I don't dislike it, but I don't care much for it either, it's just... there
Wow, not to put too fine a point on it (because of Covid circumstances), this really nosedived to finish as low as this!
