Was curious what kind of numbers the uncertified #1s are getting, so I checked their Spotify playcounts both yesterday and today. This of course comes with the caveats that it's worldwide, Spotify-only, and that 1 day is a small sample size for songs doing really small numbers, but nonetheless:

Plays gained since yesterday (Total plays as of today) - Artist - Title

18,227 (29,492,466) - U2 - Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own

492 (3,626,085) - LadBaby - We Built This City

448 (647,716) - Vanessa Jenkins & Bryn West feat. Sir Tom Jones & Robin Gibb - Islands In The Stream

Thanks very much for this! Very interesting. So perhaps 'What a Wonderful World' is next in line for a certification, based on current Spotify numbers and original physical sales.

'What A Wonderful World' being towards the top of that list is... surprising? (not for the song itself, but I wouldn't have expected that particular version to be getting many plays)

I wish there was a way to see total Spotify streams for any given song in each country :(

But this is really interesting to see, thanks!

Whatever happened to that Bronze certification for first albums? I heard about it years ago but have seen no mention since!

Conan Gray recently achieved this with his album Kid Krow!

Edit: Beaten to it :sarah: !

That double plug for Kid Krow *.* :sarah:

Is that some SoundCloud rapper? Never heard of him

They happen occasionally, the last few announced on Twitter:

Thanks for the info!! I hadn’t really seen it on here and it doesn’t appear on the award levels part of the Brit certified website, you can’t search by that award level and it seems to never appear on wiki discographies so wasn’t sure what happened!

‘Despacito (Remix)’ the 2017 tune by @luisfonsi and @daddy_yankee, featuring @justinbieber has gone a crazy #BRITcertified 6x Platinum.
  • 1 month later...

Adele - Easy on me - SILVER - 200,000

Coldplay - Music of the spheres - GOLD - 100,000

Sia Snowman has gone silver this week.
  • 2 weeks later...

Ed Sheeran = GOLD album

Unlike ÷ which went 2x Platinum in first week.

The record (=) is Ed’s fifth to top the chart, and opens with 139,000 chart sales, outperforming the rest of this week’s Top 30 combined.
