This government were adamant the schools needed to be running as usual, even when it became clear that this was not a good idea last December and even threatened a local authority with legal action for safeguarding students and staff. Schools is a place where people from many different households were mixing for a solid four months, following government instructions. You can’t blame spread on drinkers and people with issues with substance abuse when there was so much opportunity for the virus to spread within the rules. Haven't absolved the Tories of anything. In Scotland, the Chief Medical Officer was found to have breached guidelines, as too was an MP who represents the Scottish National Party. Tory? :huh: Remind me: Did the Chief Medical Officer resign? Or did she stay on, hold a press conference making up a load of waffle and expended vital public trust in order to keep her job. Hmm.

Do you expect me to list every permutation of how the virus can be spread? I've referred to SOME that I feel are important and have been overlooked. January 15, 20214 yr On a more general concern, this whole addict and party-goer framing and blaming is very bad and classist. Come on now, that's not the main way the virus is spreading (and even if it was there's a whole culture of overwork and underpay and lack of social mobility opportunities that leads to that sort of environment, which would be encouraged and allowed by successive Tory governments). You know who has the power to issue rules that the majority of society WILL follow, to say, close workplaces and schools where clearly most mingling is happening? That would not be Mickey with his mickeys hiding out in his den, that would be the government. Who are trying to do everything they can to absolve themselves of their societal responsibility to take care of the population, like, for example, providing free school meals.

Well done to Marcus Rashford (again) and Jack Monroe — the absolute state of this government and the opposition. @1349334555807936512 Funny how people like you are sharing the video that deliberately misses the follow up question where Starmer completely destroys Johnson and shows the people who think tweeting is "opposition" what really matters in politics. :rolleyes: People like you think this was a moment that made Starmer look fbad (and you're doing exactly what the Tories want you to do so congratulations!) but only a small percentage of the electorate are on twitter (and Rashford has gone well beyond tweeting in his campaign) but most people saw this as where the government's hypocrisy on the whole scandal was exposed as this was no accident, it was all within the government's own guidelines. Remember who this fight is really about and that is poor parents who are struggling to feed their children. A national (and global) emergency is the last place where they should try and score points and it's difficult when they haven't set their stall out as to what a Labour government would be like of course but I think you'll find people prefer this to just sniping on twitter. When this is over you'll see what opposition really looks like just like you're seeing what actually allowing a leader to be criticised actually looks like. @1349381943331233794
