May 14, 20214 yr The video is really cute with Pikachu and Pichu and is my favourite thing about this, the song I can take or leave at this point but maybe it will grow. It didn't "wow" me on a first listen though.

May 14, 20214 yr Such a beautiful song :wub: Her voice carries these types of songs so beautifully. I agree. As I said, I feel it's in the same vein as Never Really Over, Roar & Rise. So uplifting and it would be a nice sound for Katy to chase for now I think. She does do this sorta music the best I think.

I will say unless she comes back with something stellar next album she'll have lost her chance to take her former position as a dominating force in pop. I don't think she's really all about that anymore though. Witness was a conscious decision to move away from a pure pop sound so eh .

I don't think coming back from the Witness era is going to be easy and really, that's a shame since she went off and tried something different to her usual.

May 15, 20214 yr Finding this v underwhelming on repeated listen. :( it's very "been done before by her but much less anthemic". The best aspect of it is the production, I just wish the actual song was stronger.
May 15, 20214 yr I have this on loop. Addicted. I hope the song being related to pokémon will mean it gets decent promotion. Maybe used in an advert or something? It debuts at #121 on the global spotify chart with a little less than 1 million streams. Debuts at #88 in the US. That's quite decent conisdering the J Cole album bomb and Nicki Minaj mixtape bomb. The video has over 5 million views currently!

May 17, 20214 yr The fact this hasn't made the top 200 on UK Spotify yet especially after day 1's curiosity/new music Friday streams is out-doing any expecations we had of this underperforming (which I feel many felt it might do) even without Hot Hits currently :'( The "ELECTRIC" part is an ear-worm i'll give it that. There needs to be a big push on streaming or this will fade away without leaving a trace.
