Posted January 21, 20214 yr aGxJm_Sy2aw Today marks 30 years since the release of 'What Do I Have to Do', the third single from 'Rhythm of Love'. The song was remixed by Ian Curnow and Phil Harding, whose added drum track and layered vocals gave this dance anthem an infectious new energy. It was met with positive reviews from critics and earned Kylie both her 12th UK Top 10 and Australian Top 20 hit. The glamorous accompanying music video takes inspiration from Hollywood style icons and features a brief appearance from Dannii Minogue. 30 years on, what are your thoughts and memories of this song?
January 21, 20214 yr Love this song so much  Everything about the song and the video is iconic. I was a bit too young to remember the release of it with crystal clarity though.
January 21, 20214 yr Such an iconic song - I appreciate it much more now than I did as a kid as it was all a bit too grown up for me then (Although of course I rushed out to buy it! Anyone remember the limited edition 7” vinyl with 2 free postcards  ).
January 21, 20214 yr Absolutely love this song. One of my all time favourites. Still sounds fantastic. Would love some of these Kylie dance tunes to get a 'slight' edit and re issued for everyone to hear again and some for the first time
January 21, 20214 yr I would love to see this getting used as a sample or it be to a feature on a track by someone such Kygo. I have always loved this song from the very first listen and i love it just as much if not more 30 years later, i love the song intro part the most. It remains my favourite kylie song.
January 21, 20214 yr Remember waiting in all day to tape it off the radio...also the video (which is her best PWL video) received its world premiere on The Chart Show. Happy days. Brilliant song and deserved better than a 6 peak, thereby spoiling her top 4 run. Kylie fatigue had set in and she was losing many of her original fans as they grew up and moved away from pop dance....there was a great interview in The Face where they highlighted how the song lyrics were growing up with Kylie.
January 21, 20214 yr An iconic Kylie song from the PWL era. I remember being disappointed that it failed to reach the T5.
January 21, 20214 yr Author I'll always love this song but I find myself going through certain degrees of love. It used to be a 10/10 but it's slipped and can be a 9 or an 8. It's sound particularly good today though, the single mix being the definitive version. I love the video, the Hollywood glamour theme gives the song a slightly prestigious feel. It's a shame this was Kylie's first single not to have a Top of the Pops since 'Got to Be Certain'. I believe a performance was recorded but didn't make it to air, something to do with what Kylie was wearing? That performance could have been what the song needed to make the Top 5.
January 21, 20214 yr It's a shame it didnt ho top 5 and it was her first not to do so, I think it showcased her voice differently and the song just oozes energy.
January 24, 20214 yr What Do I Have To Do is a real Kylie moment and a superb single. The singles from Rhythm of Love were so important and helped Kylie to establish a very long career ahead.
January 24, 20214 yr I LOVE the Rhythm of Love album and this is one of the highlights (2nd favourite track). It's such an explosion of BLISS with heaps of dance vibes and feel-good energy. Can't believe it's 30 years old WHAT :o
January 25, 20214 yr It was a golden time really with the singles and the singles from the album have consistently remained very popular.
January 26, 20214 yr One of the best Kylie singles ever. The single remix was perfect, the video was brilliant and I truly loved everything about it. Deserved to be massive. And then they went and followed it up with Shocked. What a time to be a Kylie fan!!
January 26, 20214 yr Id love to see What do i have to do performed more on tour and performed in full, it doesnt get enough tour time in my opinion.
