Sad to see Leeane Wood lose her seat!

Absolutely shocking. I can’t see one politician in Wales that did more for their constituents over the past year than she did.

I’m surprised how easy it’s been for Labour in Wales. I’ve clearly overestimated how unpopular they are.

Actually, Corbyn was so popular people broke into spontaneous chants for him at concerts and football games... The British state had to reveal its face and PROVE to us that the game is rigged in favour of the neoliberal elite to sabotage his character and get rid. Remember, at Labour HQ they joked about shooting people like me, Corbyn supporters... How was he supposed to win an election under these conditions? He nearly did, though, before the British state had time to finish the job!

Left wing policies are REQUIRED now. Leave all thr culture war BS and focus on an economic alternative. Labour was able to beat thw Tories after WW2 - the zenith of flag-waving patriotism following war, AND beat the ACTUAL Churchill, not yhe lazy Poundshop rip off - by doing just that.

Corbyn is so popular people broke in to spontaneous chants about him at concerts and football games, come off it Michael  One of the most popular football chants about is about a player called Will Grigg. A no-mark journeyman who spent most of his playing career in League 1. Corbyn was not popular, you don't have to agree that people didn't like him, but he was not popular with the general public and that needs to be accepted.

Only after the character assassination... No one could withstand that PLUS attacks from the neoliberal wing of their own party...

After all the corruption allegations against Labour-led Liverpool, Labour have lost one seat (to the Lib Dems) and held the city mayoralty. It remains a Tory-free zone. Indeed, the Tories came sixth in the mayoral election.

The Tories have lost quite a lot of seats in places like Surrey and East and West Sussex. The BBC are unlikely to mention this because they have been banned from mentioning that there are more than two parties in England (and, for that matter, more than three in Scotland). That is why there has been no mention of significant gains by the Greens.

Absurd — Greens have been snatching seats everywhere.

With Corbyn his policies were more popular than him but people did like his character but didn’t think he was prime ministerial.

Yeh Labour making gains in remainer southern English seats!

SNP missing out on Dumbartonshire due to tactical voting again!

Quite the result for Labour in Wales, the UKIP votes being divided amongst Labour again in their strongholds and the tories in the eastern and north eastern areas. Everyone talks about Scotland and the snp but Labour have improved in Wales and given their time in government it’s impressive.

John Curtis has done his Projected National Vote and has the tories at 36% and Labour on 29% so improved on 2019 so maybe all isn’t lost.

On a similar theme, Northants local government was reorganised after the Tory-controlled authorities went bankrupt. The Tories have won the replacement authorities.

Jeremy Corbyn wasn’t popular everywhere, problem is Keir Starmer isn’t popular anywhere 😂

And so what? It unfortunately happens when you've spent your whole political as a backbencher along throwing shade at the Party you represent, that you now need on side.

6 new seats in Suffolk alone.

Very pleased that my tactical vote for the (ugh, Lib Dems) managed to kick out a Tory in 1 seat - and the Greens kicked out another Tory in the other. So, yay for (sort of) democracy in action and minor victories.

I mean the results for Labour overall are DIRE of course - oh DEAR at Hartlepool quite frankly, but in some ways it was predictable because it looks like the policies of 2017 were the only thing keeping the Labour Party from repeating the Pasokification of its sister parties in Europe and the absolute MELTS on the right of the Labour Party are still so obsessed by Corbyn that they are still going on about him 14 months after his leadership ended and they banished him from the PLP...

It could all be so very very different..

No. It eas unacceptable. Some in Momentum say the saboteurs should be thrown in jail for what they did.

As I've said before Steve, you really cannot underestimate the amount the past year has had on these elections. No coincidence, Stugeon, Drakeford and Johnson have performed really well.

Also that poll that is doing the rounds today is nonsense about Starmer's Leadership. Polls a load of people why they voted Tory and one of the main reasons they voted Tory was cos Labour attack the Tories too much. Yet some people want more of this. It's almost as if the electorate don't like want mud slinging and cheap hits in the media and want us to focus on issues in the country instead.

Wouldn't surprise me if that's the case, the Momentum Leadership are crazily stupid.

But Starmer has barely attacked the Tories AT. ALL... That poll is clearly nonsense.

And no. It should be illegal for a party to sabotage a leader that much. If we had a PROPER VOTING SYSTEM, this would never have been an issue, as those neoliberal red Tories would be in another party.

How has Johnson performed well? His dithering meant that the first lockdown was at least two weeks too late. The November lockdown was a month too late and he changed the rules for Christmas well after it was clear that his original plans would lead to disaster. The only thing that he has got right is to allow the NHS to oversee the vaccine rollout rather than outsource it to his pals.
