Like this track. Hard to believe she’s 37 now!

Is this in ‘pop’ because it’s pop-punk? Would I find new Blink182, NFG etc singles here as well?

Surely it’s rock, as is most guitar based music.

Rock. lol

Travis Barker plays on this track. What’s he?? Lol

It’s obviously a rock track. Unless you’re tone deaf.

Loving this! Feels like the most inspired I’ve heard her in a long time, Head Above Water was a decent album but a bit dull overall. I wish she released this in a less competitive month. What are the chances Radio 1 give this a spot? Highly doubt it but I don’t see why they shouldn’t
Obsessed with this - streaming on repeat, this is the kind of music we’ve waited for Avril to return to for the past 10+ years

Careful or your going to get dragged into a 'pop punks not real rock' debate' 🤣

Ugh, this is another flop isn't it? Such a shame. :(

Releasing mid week was never going to help. But also, the best it can do is set up some good attention for the album to give her another top 10 album hopefully.

It is enjoyable and much more early Avril which seems to be well received.

Hmmm, I'm not sure about classifying it a buzz single. It's not like she can get hits anymore, so I'd say this has done pretty well for her considering?
It obviously isn't a buzz single - Head Above Water was a midweek release too and this managed to chart higher. Her hit-making days are, generally speaking, in the past, so this did perfectly fine in getting a higher peak.

Was anyone really seriously expecting an Avril Lavigne single in 2021 to debut higher than #61…?

I think she has a shot at getting another decent sized hit given the current popularity of pop punk but it wouldn't come from 'omg a brand new Avril song, got to stream that right away', it'd come from her getting lucky with something getting big on TikTok which doesn't usually happen immediately.

i only call it a buzz single because it was released kinda out of nowhere and we have no idea when the albums coming.

She's said the album is pretty much done, out early next year and most of the song titles have been revealed.

Buzz singles aren't a thing anymore. Avril was just unlikely to get a hit in the streaming era and that's exactly what happened. It's still her highest charting single in the UK in 8 years. That's not saying much but still better than nothing when most of her fanbase has moved on.

ATRL is saying that the album will also be titled 'Bite Me', and will be released in February! The second single is expected next month, and this will be the tracklisting: (but not necessarily in this order)

1. Bite Me

2. Bois Lie (feat. Machine Gun Kelly)

3. Cannonball

4. F.U.

5. Love Sux

6. Dare You to Love Me

7. Kiss Me Like the World is Ending

8. Avalanche

9. Break of a Heart

10. Love it When you Hate Me (feat. blackbear)

11. Deja Vu

12. Mark’s Song (feat. Mark Hoppus)

He's done quite a few pop-punk features (including probably the biggest pop-punk song in years, "my ex's best friend") - and has his own album with Travis Barker out next year!
That's a very predictable and uninspiring selection of features  but Bite Me the song is great so I have high hopes for the album.
