Are we concerned that threads like this might send the wrong message to membership by promoting quantity over quality? When I was a co-admin of a forum, I used to do end of year award threads but the recognition would be geared towards quality. For example, we would have awards such as "Thread of the year for most thought provoking discussion", "Member of the year", and this would typically be someone who consistently contributes in a manner that is conducive to positive and engaging discussion and adherence to forum values. Things of that nature ..

 

My concern with the above is potentially encouraging the off-topic one liners that don't contribute to or foster quality discussion.

 

We already do awards at the end of Each year, this is just the rundown of most popular forums and people with the most posts.

Oh has he been banned again in the last hour then? I mean good riddance. I cannot understand how someone like that can enter a forum asking for charity by helping him in a difficult situation and then criticise the entire community for not meeting his own lofty standards of what a forum should be. Anyway, that should be the end of his condescending remarks from now on.

 

Back to the topic... I’m not exactly expecting or hoping to finish high up, but then again I have posted a lot more in 2020 than in other years before. It isn’t a flattering result to be names in this countdown though is it, but at least I’ve cemented myself into the fabric of BuzzJack! ^_^

I mean, it's like anything online, as long as the site is making you happy and it's not interfering with any important commitments you've made elsewhere, post as much as you like. Post numbers of course aren't a direct overlap with how much a part of the site you are, but most things anyone posts are why we all stay and read, so there's gotta be something good behind being high - that's why I said value neutral.

To give some context to the boost in posting figures that 2020 saw (thanks, world), people such as King Rollo, Doctor Blind and ManicKangaroo posted more in 2020 compared to 2019 and are still managing to fall.

I can't believe I'm in this countdown. I would've been Top 10 back in '07 but I'll take #79 in 2021.

I think it is important - I mean I contribute to the deeper and more detailed discussions in the sports and politics forums but also add the Lolz posts in the chart forum, so it can be a mix of both and therefore it’s important to catch these stats.

 

I will also add that I for one think Hadjis posts in the chart show thread when ‘Blinding Lights’ is played for the 45th week in a row are highly entertaining to me 😀
