I assumed Miley had been in it before when she had an Artist Forum for some reason! Some gems up for grabs there, great pick.

Miley :cheeseblock: One of the artists I'm most excited about her and probably a contender for the win!

I've been spinning Plastic Hearts non-stop since release so I'm hoping for some album cuts from that to get their chance to shine + some earlier gems (See You Again, PITUSA, breakout era) + Malibu

she's definitely a mixed bag for me, although she's been a lot better over recent times. Definitely need Slide Away to crop up at some point. I know it won't happen but I'll pretend there's a possibility for Younger Now!!

Katy B

An iconic dance diva for your nerve

She brought underground dance and electronic sounds into the mainstream and UK charts in the early 2010s, and now she's back with vengenace to win the AF Idol Spin-Off!

At the turn of the 2010s decade, Katy B unexpectedly rose to fame through popularity on pirate radio with a unique sound that celebrated the club culture we so sorely miss now. She gave a dark edge to dance and pop music amid a mainstream of generic, recycled electro pop and electro house. At the center of her impressive plathora of beats that pulled from every house genre and the kitchen sink, however, was a soulful, sincere and passionate voice with a gigantic vocal range to boot! :Her ability to convey feelings of unity, disappointment, loneliness, love and freedom were second to none. Katy was fresh, relatable, hilarious, down to earth and a cat lover! What was there NOT to love!?

Signing to Rinse FM's side project record label, her debut single iconically titled 'Katy on a Mission' sounded like nothing else in the charts at the time. It debuted at number five, spent six weeks in the top 10 and was certified platinum. Katy was well on her way, and the follow-up 'Lights On' charted even better at number 4, at the same time popularizing the UK funky genre back onto our airwaves. A third top 10 followed with the breakbeat beauty 'Broken Record' and then her debut album On a Mission charted at number two and was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2011. It was a euphoric rush of rave inspired pop brought to life by the singer's unmistakable vocals. NME hailed it as the best British pop debut of the year, while musicOMH wrote that Katy "could easily sing the front page of the South London Press and have you clamouring for more."

Then came the massively underrated gem of an EP Danger, flawless from start to finish, yet Katy put it out for free! Truly the Oprah of her genre! Sophomore era, Little Red, preceded by the glorious early hours anthem and top 20 hit '5 AM', found Katy exploring a more commercial pop and R&B sound while still staying true to what made us love her in the first place. Filled to the brim with timeles melodies and potential singles, it became her first number one album and spawned her signature ballad and fourth top 10 hit 'Crying for No Reason' which like with Robyn's 'Dancing on My Own' perfectly embodied the term 'dance crying' before Dua Lipa made it a thing xo.

In 2015, the little reds were rewarded with popjustice when their icon finally snatched a deserved UK number one single with KDA and Tinie Tempah collab 'Turn the Music Louder (Rumble).' It also served an iconic high note (and wig) that other "dance vocalists" could only dream of (Jess who?) . Initially planned as a collaboration mixtape, Katy's third record Honey saw her delve into an expansive electronic soundscape with many different producers. It wasn't as well received as her preceding releases but saw her songwriting mature and brought a fun experimental sound to her already filler-free back catalogue. After that, Katy B became a radio silence devotee and went on to share the occasional lifestyle or cooking post :)

Miley Cyrus was the ONLY clash! So someone had to send their back up option!

Demi - When I love her songs, I love them. Otherwise, I'm not phased.

Jessie Ware - I wasn't a fan of her most recent album (I'm sorry!) but I've liked a few songs in the past!

Miley - Similar to Demi, but more hit than miss.

Exciting!

VERY VERY VERY VERY excited for this. Does she have a bad track? (in her first two albums at least).

Little Red album to really shine here <3 A great choice!

Yes I was gonna say other than Aaliyah, Jessie and Katy have some quite similar traits

13) GABRIELLE | Represented by; VIBE

Louise Gabrielle Bobb (born 19 July 1969), known professionally as Gabrielle, is a British singer and songwriter.

Gabrielle burst onto the music scene in 1993 with her record breaking song 'Dreams'. "Dreams" entered the UK Singles Chart at number two, which was the highest chart entry a debut female solo act had scored in the United Kingdom at that time. 'Dreams' reached number one the following week and stayed there for three weeks in June 1993. The song also peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. Originally, the song included a sample of the song "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman, but because of copyright reasons the sample had to be removed. Adele has stated that she made her mum make her an eyepatch when she was little so she could emulate Gabrielle.

Gabrielle's debut album 'Find You Way' was released soon after and peaked at number 9, and went gold with 100,000 copies sold. Gabrielle's image at this time caused a stir because she wore an eye patch over her right eye. Gabrielle has ptosis, the drooping of one eyelid, throughout her career she has covered her eye with sunglasses, an eyepatch, or hair. In 1994 she won her first Brit Award for 'Best Newcomer'.

In 1996 Gabrielle returned with helf self titled second album. The album eventually went platinum selling over 300,000 copies, peaking at number 11 but it stayed in the charts for 38 weeks. The album contained two huge singles 'Give Me A Little More Time' and 'If You Ever'. The album's lead single "Give Me a Little More Time", returned Gabrielle to the UK top ten, peaking at five, spending ten weeks inside the UK top 20. In 1997 Gabrielle won her second Brit Award for Best Female.

Controversy - In December 1995, Gabrielle's ex partner was arrested for murdering his step father. Following the arrest Tony Antoniou admitted the crime telling investigators that he had killed his step father because he had physically and sexually abused him. He served 14 years in prison, Gabrielle did have to speak in court but has had no contact since. I am sure the song 'Rise' was partly inspired by this event.

Gabrielle's commercial peak came between 1999 and 2001. 'Rise' her 3rd album was released in 1999. A major commercial success, the album spent three weeks at number-one on the UK Albums Chart, achieving 4× Platinum status. The title track also went to number one on the UK Singles Chart. The album sold close to 1,300,000 copies. It was the 15th best selling album of 2000 and 39th best selling of 2001 in the UK. Five successful singles were released from the album.

Dreams Can Come True, Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is a greatest hits album by English recording artist Gabrielle. It was released in 2001, featuring all of Gabrielle's biggest hit singles. The compilation album went on to become the fifth-best-selling album of 2001 in the United Kingdom, achieving 4× platinum. It was the 76th-best-selling album of that decade in the UK.

She is known for her very distinctive voice. She sang one note in the 'UK Masked Singer 2.0' and i immediately recognised her. I find her voice rich and soothing. Gabrielle has written most of her catalogue, she has never looked or acted like your typical pop star. This is definitely part of her appeal. Gabrielle was born in Hackney boy moved to Brockley when she was 11. She attended 'Hatcham Wood' secondary school, a rough school in New Cross (South East London). I went to the rival school which was in the next street a few years later.

Gabrielle has released 7 studio albums and 3 compilations and a remix album. She has had 26 single releases in the UK, she has won Brit awards, Mobos and in 2008 won the Ivor Novello award for 'Outstanding Song Collection'.

Gabrielle is releasing a new album titled 'Do It Again on March 5th. The album contains covers performed on the masked singer and 2 original tracks.

I met Gabrielle randomly at a Brandy concert at the indigo 02, she was with her daughter. I ended up sitting next to her. I had a few drinks and told her i was a huge fan and she was so down to earth and 'normal'. I did however have to swap seats with my friend as i did not want to be spilling drinks or stamping on the feet of one of my favourite singers. I have seen Gabrielle live on three occasions and have some dates booked for when this pandemic is over.

I hope you enjoy my selections from this talented lady.
