Biography

MEDUZA have spent the year leading the charge in returning house music to daytime radio, and succeeding. Their debut release, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ featuring Goodboys, has now seen over a billion streams globally, reaching double platinum (1.2m units) in the UK alone and peaking at #2 on the Official UK Charts. This trend has followed Meduza globally, with multi Diamond, Platinum and Gold certifications around the world and a GRAMMY nomination. The follow up, ‘Lose Control’ with Goodboys and Becky Hill, has made an unprecedented impact, reaching the UK Top40 in its first week, now notching upward of 450 million cumulative streams, reaching Gold sales in the UK in less than 3 months. These headline successes are also bolstered by an impressive catalogue of hand picked remixes for the likes of MK, R+, Dermot Kennedy and Ritual, displaying not only Meduza’s signature sound and energy, but also the raw ability to create a stand out release whenever called upon. The touring diary for Meduza shows an almost insatiable demand for the hottest act in dance music, with El Row, Exit in Serbia, EDC Mexico and Las Vegas standing alongside smaller underground clubs like Fabric in London, The Rex in Paris, Toffler in Rotterdam, Amnesia Milan to name but a few key venues and events scaling the globe. Tours of Australia, Europe, South America and the United States already crowd the upcoming diary for 2020 promising to expose Meduza to millions of fans over summer. - Spotify

Paradise is such a bop too
Paradise lucky to increase 2 weeks ago otherwise it would have gone to ACR already (was something like a 0.4% increase when the market was up 4.2%)
That's what I actually used to call my second favourite jumper as a kid, I'd like to think that's what inspired the name.

Biography

Travis Scott

Travis Scott has helped define the sound and feel of 2010s rap, imbuing tough, surrealistic trap with a distinctly pop appeal. Raised in the suburbs of Houston, Scott (born Jacques Berman Webster II in 1992) first made noise as an in-house producer for Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music, working on the 2012 label showcase Cruel Summer and 2013’s Yeezus, which arrived mere weeks after he dropped his debut mixtape, Owl Pharaoh. He went on to bring his gothic-edged sound to Drake, Migos, Madonna, and Rihanna (“Bitch Better Have My Money”), while his own solo albums—2015’s Rodeo and 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight—playfully drew the commercial center of rap toward the avant-garde. Take 2018’s ASTROWORLD, a swirling, almost psychedelic set that not only managed to pull together Quavo, John Mayer, Tame Impala, and Sheck Wes on the same album, but also had them gel—a testament to Scott’s vision as an artist and superlative curator. Like West, his mentor, Scott has also brought tremendous energy to his live shows, creating a stage-diving, punk-like spectacle that revitalizes a space that too many rappers inhabit on autopilot. - Apple Music

HVME

Behind the mysterious name HVME (pronounced like the English "Hume") stands a young producer born in Murcia, south-east Spain. In 2016 he started with his first productions, which musically move between Future House, Slap House and Deep House. His international breakthrough finally came in 2020, when his track "Goosebumps", which was released on the label Lithuania HQ, went through the ceiling. By the way, the artist's name is an abbreviation of his civil name, in combination with the name of the Scottish philosopher David Hume (1711 -1776), with a "V" replacing the "U". HVME has been the nickname his friends once gave him years ago. - Spotify

This has become a huge hit, and yet Radio 1 have removed it from their playlist today after a few weeks in the B-List. Wonder how they chose which dance song to play most lol.
A lot of this top 10 is pretty tired :( Hoping Paradise, Get Out My Head and Without You hit ACR soon as they've been knocking around since November!
Goosebumps improving its peak position slightly, probably one of the most exciting things to happen in the top ten this week

I'm glad Goosebumps has climbed today, it's definitely one of the strongest songs in the chart

Biography

In an Apple Music interview from mid-2020, The Kid LAROI reminisced about the short but formative time he spent in LA living with the late emo rapper Juice WRLD. They’d hang out all day, bonding, making music, seeing friends, whatever. People always coming and going, never a dull moment. Sometimes, Juice would wake LAROI up in the middle of the night, wild with excitement about a track LAROI had to put a verse on. Other mornings, LAROI would wake up to his and Juice’s managers saying it was time to pack up and head to Texas. Like, now. He was 15, 16 years old. “I’d never experienced anything like that,” he said. “Especially coming from Australia, where everything is kind of like its own bubble.”

Not that 15-year-olds outside Australia would be used to it either. But such is the meteoric ascent of a talented young rapper circa 2020. Born Charlton Howard in 2003, LAROI—whose name is a reference to the Kamilaroi Indigenous nation, in which he has family roots—grew up in the suburbs of Sydney, and began to work on music when he was a pre-teen. Like Juice WRLD, Post Malone or even Lil Peep, LAROI’s key tracks—“ALWAYS DO”, “TRAGIC” and the Juice WRLD collaboration “GO”—blend ultra-melodic trap with shades of alternative rock and classic pop, a fusion that has put him on the front burner of pop-rap. His first album, F*CK LOVE, hit the Top 10 before he turned 18. - Apple Music
