Seems like we could see an interesting battle in the album chart this week with Lana Del Rey and Justin Beiber both releasing

Just wanted to see what people's early predictions were before we get any streaming numbers or mids, and then update them as the week goes on

Justin's last album last year opened with 17.7k, Lana's last album opened with 31.5k (but this Justin album already seems like its quite a bit better received than his last)

I think it'll be close, I think Justin will improve on his last and Lana will fall a bit, but I still expect Lana to take it

Maybe around 25/26k for Lana and 22/23k for Justin

I'm surprised that Lana's winning this poll so overwhelmingly, thought the voting would be a lot closer. Without knowing the previous opening figures for both I'd have said Justin but I'm not so sure now!

Lana. I'm sure Justin will have better streams but Lana will easily out-do him on sales (Justin's last album only did 6.4k on sales!).

I think Justin's album will have slightly better longevity though thanks to having four pre-album singles, which is three more than his last album too.

Am I right in thinking Justin's last album literally scraped #1 by a few copies in a really dire sales week?

Yes - his album sold 17,681 and Lewis Capaldi sold 17,537 at #2. Tame Impala debuted at #3 with 16,489 too.

Lana's last album had nearly twice the opening sales of Justin's, it'd be very disappointing if she doesn't get the #1!

I was thinking this might have been a closer result  but I suppose looking at their recent release numbers it makes more sense to guess Lana would get the #1

Given Justin's doing a lot better than his last album streaming-wise I think he could do it. It'll be close I suspect!
Depends what Lanas preorders are like(she’s been on preorder for ages now) as KOL only had 2-3 tracks in the streaming top 100 for a couple of days but still made up for number one spot easily. Basically like KOL Lana is t really a huge streaming artists, just breaking through 5 years before it became a chart force.
