March 29, 20214 yr Author SEQUENCES: Question 1 A lot of people picked up on the fact that these songs reached number 1 in January/Q1. I'd like to say that it was a sneaky red herring, but it was a complete coincidence, I didn't even realise! The actual connection is that the number of credited artists increases by one each time (1 on drivers license, 2 on Somebody That I Used to Know, then 3 on Own It). So any song with 4 credited artists was correct! There's another accepted sequence found by two people (detailed below), it's far more complicated than I could've come up with but it's correct so that scores points too! Correctly answered (9): dandy*, n4yr, xajnipi, Mangø, jimwatts, Doctor Blind, paulgilb, PeteFromLeeds, dan::G Alternate accepted answers (2): RabbitFurCoat, Riser: Descending number of weeks at #1, from 9>5>3>2, meaning the gap halves each time (first it's 4 less, then 2 less, then 1 less)
March 29, 20214 yr Q3 took me forever, I had to scour Wikipedia for a connection  had no idea Miley covered Heart of Glass!
March 29, 20214 yr Omg I thought that was to do with palindrome dates of number 1, I just couldn’t shake it went from 2021 to 2012, wayyyy off!
March 29, 20214 yr I did think of the 9/5/3/2 thing first of all, but it seemed a little too arbitrary. Then once I got it, it took a while to think of a four-artist #1 (Feels is the one I came up with)
March 29, 20214 yr Oh nooo I noticed the descending number of weeks thing but thought that was too vague as a guess 😓 Note to self: anything is better than nothing as a guess!! Definitely didn’t think about the features thing though.
March 29, 20214 yr Author SEQUENCES: Question 2 These are all synonyms for Taylor Swift lead singles. The next in the sequence is Willow, so anything representing that word was correct - most people went for the tree but there were also a few Willow Smiths and the character from Buffy! Correctly answered (24): dandy*, chrissmith276, n4yr, JulianT, uptempo_owww!, AaronTM, RabbitFurCoat, rio309, xajnipi, Mangø, jimwatts, Soy Adrián, Doctor Blind, paulgilb, Riser, PeteFromLeeds, CJK, dan::G, Bjork, StoneDragon, Jade, Suedehead2, LewisGT, Chez Wombat Correct connection but wrong 4th song (1 point): jakewild, coi
March 29, 20214 yr I guessed Q1 was something to do with ages at which you can do certain things (get a driving license, change your name and own property), but would have been very surprised if I’d been right! Edited March 29, 20214 yr by JulianT
March 29, 20214 yr I quite liked my answer for the first one in Round 2 and it seemed to fit... All #1s and the first syllable on the next song is the same as the last syllable of the previous song... Edited March 29, 20214 yr by chrissmith276
March 29, 20214 yr I almost put Taylor Swift US #1s until I remembered that ‘ME!’ peaked at #2  thankfully leads then clicked.
March 29, 20214 yr The number of artists one is probably the first of those which I don't feel annoyed at myself for not getting! The trend resumes though with this one, managing to get that they were Taylor singles but not lead singles!
March 29, 20214 yr Author I quite liked my answer for the first one in Round 2 and it seemed to fit... All #1s and the first syllable on the next song is the same as the last syllable of the previous song... I could see what you meant for "...Know" into "Own It" but I didn't think "...ense" into "Some..." quite worked, sorry!
March 29, 20214 yr Author SEQUENCES: Question 3 Some people said these all feature in adverts - as far as I know the only one that has is the Fleetwood Mac one? Take the first letter of the artist and song, and you'll get H G F E D C. It's the alphabet going backwards towards A, so any artist beginning with B who's had a song starting with A was correct! Correctly answered (9): dandy*, chrissmith276, JulianT, rio309, xajnipi, Doctor Blind, paulgilb, Bjork, Chez Wombat Alternate accepted answers: PeteFromLeeds: Increasing syllables according to the Fibonacci sequence
March 29, 20214 yr Ahh so that's what it was! I did think my guess was a bit of a long shot but I was at least right in it being something to do with the titles of the songs.
March 29, 20214 yr I thought 2.1 had to do with age at which they got to #1, cos Olivia, Kimbra and Burna Boy were all young so I thought the right answer was that guy that did Savage Love with Derulo :D
March 29, 20214 yr Yes, that only twigged with me after the deadline. Although I thought my idea was quite a good fit - the Four Elements (Earth, Air, Water, Fire - there's air Everywhere, right?) - so I went for Bangles - Eternal Flame as the 4th clue. Please could I at least have half a point for Bangles? Edited March 29, 20214 yr by jimwatts
March 29, 20214 yr Finally one that I can say I'd never have worked out! That Fibonacci answer is incredible
