That article either has a typo mistake or Claire is willingly lying haha. "Although 5,6,7,8 never hit the Top 10, it was the biggest-selling single of 1997." Haha not by a long shot it wasn't. The biggest selling single not to go top 10 for many years though wasn't it? Maybe that's what was meant.

ya 5,6,7,8 was the biggest selling non top 10 hit and stayed that way for a couple of years.

I think it was quite a long time it held that record for wasn't it? 10 years or something?

5, 6, 7, 8 selling more than Candle in the Wind *__*

EXACTLY what I thought  never knew 5,6,7,8 outsold the biggest selling single of all time.

Not even sure you could say it’s the current best selling 1997 song on a weekly basis either, the Spice Girls’ 1997 singles probably sell more on a weekly basis for instance.

Edit: the article mentions streams in the next sentence. ‘5678’ have managed 35m streams but surely ‘Spice Up Your Life’ has more?

That is good stream numbers, im sure tragedy is on higher though?

Very not shocked at that, '5,6,7,8' definitely feels like (by far) their signature song these days!

At least in Australia if you ask someone to mention a Steps song it’ll almost always be 5, 6, 7, 8.

The video is constantly on 90’s the music video shows too.

It was their biggest hit over there wasn't it. A #1 in Australia. In the UK Tragedy was their HUGE hit in the 90's it was one of the best selling songs of all time for years before streaming took over.

Yes a number #1 here. One of three top 10 hits.

Last Thing On My Mind hit to #6 I’m pretty sure and Heartbeat/Tragedy #10.

Their streaming results not fully in line with their single sales but Step One coming out top on both.

After The Love Has Gone reached 47 and Stomp 62. Not sure how accurate Wikipedia is though.

I do remember the former scraping into the top 50 though so I thinks it’s accurate.

Say You’ll Be Mine and Loves Got A Hold On My Heart did well when that type of pop was on the way out here. Chain

Reaction reaching the top 50 is also impressive considering how long it had been a while since they reached the top 50.
