2 of my top 3 left before the top ten even started!

:o Also wow at my 7.5 being listed as one of the lowest scores for nasty  I'm amazed at how it's only finished 9th with everyone giving it a 6 or higher, that really shows how high the standard is for the remaining songs at this point!

8. WORST BEHAVIOR

AVERAGE SCORE: 7.82

LOVE language: George.keh (9.5), …ready for it, Jade, blacksquare + Joseph Styles (9)

NASTY: HauseofArgento (4), Bré (6)

While this leaves the 34+35 remix as the winner of the deluxe tracks, Worst Behavior has cemented itself as the top of the completely new tracks with comfortable top 10 position. This is one of the more reserved and private moments on the album where Ari tells her lover that she wants to live in the moment and focus on treating each other right, with lyrics such as “We don't really need to talk too much” and “No phone, no pics, no postin' us. This love just ain't disposable”. This song perfectly mirrors the complete shift of perspective in her relationship with Dalton when compared to the highly-publicised and eventually tumultuous engagement with Pete Davidson. Ari’s relationship with Dalton has been much more low-key and secretive which seems to be working well.

Ari sounds heavenly like always on here. The pre-chorus in particular really lets her vocals shine and mashes well with the slightly breezier, more spoken-wordy chorus. The track also has one of my favourite moments instrumentally on the album with nice little samples and odd choices.

This has managed to rack up some very impressive scores despite not reaching the dizzying heights of 10 or 11 for anyone, with a 9.5 from George.keh and plenty of 9’s too.

'worst behavior' performed so much better than I was expecting! I guess the deluxe tracks get a bit of a bad rep, with the short lengths often overshadowing the actual contents in discourse around them. But there we go, safely in the top 10! It's definitely my highlight of the new songs - especially the spoken-word part <3

The length is the only thing that puts me off it. And believe me it isn't the first time I've said that in my life. :kink:

Otherwise it would have gotten more points from me. I'd say the placement is pretty valid. I don't agree that it's better than 'test drive', 'love language' or 'nasty' though. Thpugh It seriously had the potential to be.

All my favourites in a row...

7. SAFETY NET (FEAT. TY DOLLA $IGN)

AVERAGE SCORE: 7.83

LOVE language: Jade (11), MrAndrewMan + LewisGT (9.5)

NASTY: Tawdry Hepburn (3), George.keh + LMLou (5.5)

Leaving in 7th place is a gorgeous soulful moment on the album, another collaboration comes in the form of 'safety net'. The track features 'Ty Dolla $ign' who has been surging in popularity in the last half decade. Most notably appearing as a collaborator for many hit songs and popular artists. Leaving at this point means 'safety net' is our 3rd highest rated 'non-single' track from the album with only 'motive' and 'my hair' still in the race as non-singles. Many have suggested they could see this one working as a single and I have to agree.

Fellow mod Jade rewards her full 11 points, whilst no one else rated even as high as 10 with MrAndrewMan and other fellow mod LewisGT rating it second highest, both giving a still very respectable 9.5 score. For the sixth time this rate Tawdry Hepburn gives the lowest overall score of just 3, with George.keh and LMLou scoring it a slightly above middle of the road 5.5. Overall the most common scores ranged between 8 and 9.

'safety net' is a career highlight for me  disappointed that it didn't make the top 5! I thought it had more stans than that on here </3
Thought this would be easily top 3! Probably my second favourite on the album, it's stunning.
That's about where I would have expected safety net to finish but I would have loved to see it higher! I gave it a 9 and would definitely say it's my second favourite of the album's non-top 40 hits (behind the even more stunning 'off the table') and that pre-chorus is just beautiful

6. 34+35 REMIX (FEAT. DOJA CAT & MEGAN THEE STALLION)

AVERAGE SCORE: 8

LOVE language: JosephStyles (11), LMLou, Nina West (10)

NASTY: George.keh, blacksquare, coi (6), Juliannial, Tawdry Hepburn, LewisGT, Bré (7)

Just missing out on a place in the top 5 is the '34+35' remix from the deluxe track list! So BuzzJack officially prefers the original solo version. But this new iteration with Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion did the business for the general public, as it allowed the song to achieve a new peak. It reached #2 in the U.S. behind the juggernaut 'drivers licence' by Olivia Rodrigo and climbed to #3 here in the U.K. - another success for this campaign following the lead single 'positions'. '34+35' actually achieved a whopping four separate runs in the U.K. top 10. The release of the remix was preceded by some social media teasing. Ari appeared alongside two mystery silhouettes which sent the internet into speculation overdrive for the night. Although the cat was let out of the bag when both Doja and Megan's names popped up when searching for the song on Apple Music. Ari and Doja Cat have become pretty cosy during this era as she also leant a hand on 'motive'. A verse for '34+35' was originally supposed to be her contribution for 'positions' before that decision was switched over to 'motive'. But she did get the chance to feature after all, alongside Megan. I mean, the 'WAP' rapper was a pretty natural fit for a track called '34+35'. Both girls tackle their verses with personality, alongside some heightened strings, but at the expense of Ariana's much loved second verse. I personally prefer the remix but can understand why people criticise the transitions between the new verses and the rest of the song. This new version also came with an extra video where the girls are having a fun girly sleepover together. Ari also finds herself pondering what a certain dessert is called and comes to the realisation that it's Baked Alaska.

We are now reaching the 8+ zone for averages. Joseph helped this one out massively with a golden 11. No-one particularly disliked this too much as its lowest scores were still as high as 6 - from George, blacksquare and coi. Time for the top 5 then - any predictions?

On first listen I hated the remix but now I prefer it to the original! ^_^

Safety Net should have been in the top 5 :(

I wouldn’t have minded the 34+35 remix finishing lower though.

5. MOTIVE (FEAT. DOJA CAT)

AVERAGE SCORE: 8.13

LOVE language: Nick F1 (11), LMLou (9.5)

NASTY: Blacksquare + MrAndrewMan (6), Tawdry Hepburn (7)

We have back-to-back Doja Cat, with her feature from the standard album, Motive, landing at #5. I was really excited when I first heard about this collab because Doja usually kills her features (her verse on Ari Lennox’s BMO is one of my favourites of her career) but I unfortunately find her verse pretty underwhelming. Her part is completely lacking in the witty lyrics and frequent, creative flow changes that I associate her with. In the end her verse is fine, but I was hoping for something more.

Motive is one the poppier, more-upbeat moments from ‘positions’ which is probably what helped it become one of the original three eligible tracks that charted in the UK on release week. Originally only achieving a single week at #16 before being overtaken at the most popular album track, it finally re-entered for two more weeks in the top 100 in March this year.

Obviously not shares my slight disappointment as the song receives a very nice 8.13 average with Nick F1 going as far as giving it the full 11. It's lowest score was 6 that shows that no-one really dislikes this one and it is deserving of a top 5 placing.

4. MY HAIR

AVERAGE SCORE: 8.43

LOVE language: ...ready for it + LMLou (11), Jade, blacksquare + Juliannnial (10)

NASTY: NickF1, HausofArgento, Nina West (6.5)

Just missing out on top 3 by 0.04 of a point is 'my hair' which is officially Buzzjack's highest rated album track from 'positions'.

What a treat of a song! It's so soulful and something that I would dream to be sung at an awards ceremony such as the Grammy's. That could be a real MOMENT. Along with sexy yet not too explicit lyrics (which have put others off previous tracks), Ari provides effortless, laidback, belting vocals over a somewhat stripped but effective production which incorporates aspects of R&B, Jazz and Steel Drums.

I feel like I read or heard somewhere that 'my hair' was originally recorded during the 'thank u, next' sessions, Ariana didn't think it fit the project but brought it back for this album. (Please correct me If I'm wrong.)

I'm SO happy this made the top 5! 'my hair' very ALMOST got my 11. It did get one from '...ready for it' and 'LMLou' though. TASTE! Fellow mod Jade and blacksquare joined myself in awarding it a 10. It's the first track to receive more than one 11 since 'off the table' (which left in 13th place). On the lower end of the spectrum 'my hair' also received the highest "low score" so far with three scores of three very inoffensive 6.5's.
