April 20, 20214 yr Enjoyed Aquafina's entry so it's a shame to see it DNQ, the music was funky :D Also yesss delighted to qualify, thanks everyone who voted for it! I love that flag too wow
April 20, 20214 yr Pffffff What is with the TEASE of letting some of these songs just come in 21st in the semi, first JPEGMAFIA and now this xx (admittedly this one isn't quite as big of a favourite for me as that was but still would have been a very welcome presence in the final). #endjapaneseracism :snif: Here's what I lost from my semi 2 ranking then: 5th Séyetana 6th Aquafina 15th Tartford 17th Suedeonia 18th Sandebörg 21st Aesthetica 22nd Harmonica 23rd République d'Áskorza 25th Lotunia 28th Summericia 30th Mulgracia 31st Bhangra 32nd Beaverdonia 33rd East Rukahavian Not too much to complain about again on the whole really! Thanks once again for the massive effort put into this thread Jafet (please don't feel like you need to one-up yourself again for the final thread, you need to have some free time!!), we've set up a pretty strong final here so looking forward to listening through it, not least for unexpectedly getting to hear my own song again in it!
April 20, 20214 yr Beautiful alt flag as well Jafet 12 10 08 07 06 SUMMERICIA: Halestorm - "Apocalyptic" 05 04 03 02 AQUAFINA: Ewan McVicar - "Street Rave" 01 That went... rather well actually. Semi 1, less well, I was earmarking Dobago and Cumulonimbia as faves along with of course Aelandor, but shocks like Persephonia qualifying were very welcome too seriously, very pleased with my result, I expected an ignominious DNQ, not potentially in the running for the greatest shock Q of all time :D
April 20, 20214 yr Seyetana's song was quite a bop second time around actually, would've been here for that shock Q, that voting record tho :cheeseblock: Only lost my four pointer (Tartford) then, can't complain at all! Thanks again for this stunning display <3
April 20, 20214 yr Four of the ten songs I voted for went out in the end but at least the top three and my own entry survived! Really enjoyed seeing the collection of flags, great work.
April 20, 20214 yr Shame for Never Not Try, it’s not what would be my usual cup of tea but it’s been in my head all week, that’s a really strong melody, I could almost imagine Adele singing it, or Rag‘n’Bone Man, as mentioned. I noticed it’s on the new Bravo Hits 113 compilation in Germany alongside Leony’s Faded Love so it’s a bit of a République d' Áskorza love-in! Also plenty of German rap on here so I’m keeping an eagle eye on those tracks! Thanks for your support as always Rich 🥰 And ha at Bravo Hits 113. My CXXXV entry isn’t on it but the artist is. As is at least one (or a few) potential(s)! It’s a very Áskorzjan friendly tracklisting that’s for sure
April 20, 20214 yr Lmao I was hoping for a dnq prediction or two as I was thinking I'd not get through and people were getting my hopes up lol. I'm a bit bummed to not have my streak extend to 6 as that would've been a new record but alas can't always get what you want. I wasn't expecting Halestorm to even qualify to be fair but they were first to my head when thinking of anniversary songs at the time. Thanks to all who pointed it anyhow. Shame Harmonica missed out and Beaver would have been in my next woulda point nations too so aw at them coming so close too. This presenting is off the charts Jafet. The flags, everything looks so stunning *.* Edited April 20, 20214 yr by Roba~
April 20, 20214 yr Thanks for your support as always Rich And ha at Bravo Hits 113. My CXXXV entry isn’t on it but the artist is. As is at least one (or a few) potential(s)! It’s a very Áskorzjan friendly tracklisting that’s for sure I feel like that's narrowed it down quite a bit! Surely you're not sending something as cheap (by German hit standards anyway) as Roller though? As long as it isn't that it'll probably be a discovery to me at least
April 21, 20214 yr Author Thank you for all of the comments and compliments on the hosting & flags, very happy to hear that you like them as I really enjoyed making them! I hope it's okay but I'll make the final thread tomorrow morning and push the final deadline to tuesday next week as a result because I'm absolutely knackered and have to get some sleep now
April 21, 20214 yr I feel like that's narrowed it down quite a bit! Surely you're not sending something as cheap (by German hit standards anyway) as Roller though? As long as it isn't that it'll probably be a discovery to me at least  I think there is probably the biggest disconnect between a major chart and BJSC when it comes to Germany - especially in use of the German Language and in this Genre. Theres never Crossover onto English language blogs or charts and that so regardless of their placing on the German chart they are from a BJSC perspective relatively inspired. The charts are also so much more geared towards artists like Capital Bra, Samra, Apache 207 et al than BJSC ever would be or the UK charts are so it’s relatively easy for an artist like this to score a number 1 or a top 10 (it’s just an extremely popular genre here) but the likelihood of that translating to BJSC is so low it’s why it was my threat 🤣. Talking of the German Chart and my entries. Faded Love is currently 17 and Never Not Try debuted this week at 50, The One (my DNQ from a couple of months ago) is 71 this week (peak 57) and I’ve sent a former German #1 before in Namika - Je Ne Parle Pas Francais and that barely hit the BJSC top 40. Nico Santos, Lena x Nico Santos, Álvaro Soler, and Lotte were all moderate Hits on the German Charts too
April 21, 20214 yr I would have said it's not really necessary to push the deadline back a day but it might be helpful anyway considering a few people thought the deadline for the semis was a day later than it was...! Anyhoo. Getting the Q streak update done now before I end up never getting around to it again xx Wardy's post covered the main bases last month but I have belatedly edited in the full BJSC 133 update to last month's thread for completeness, here are the highlights: Extending national records: Altyr Muunilinst Qualifying for the first time: Kingdom of Horanius (after 5 previous DNQs) Matching previous national records: Rolloland (previously achieved in BJSCs 103-107), Summericia (previously achieved in BJSCs 117-121, also matched by a run of 5 qualifiers in non-consecutive contests (BJSCs 102-103 & 106-108)), Cumulonimbia (previously achieved in BJSCs 79-82, exceeded by a run of 6 qualifiers in non-consecutive contests (BJSCs 75, 79-82 & 85)) Aquafina and Zanmatony further extend their records in non-consecutive contests. And here's the latest update ~ Qualification streak update (underlined countries have matched or extended their longest ever Q streak): 21 Altyr Muunilinst ~ 14 Hendinia * ~ 11 Aeroche ~ 10 Bøtanikkä ~ 6 Jadakissnia 6 Rolloland ~ 5 Kluminican Republic ~ 4 (The Actual Republic of) Bellamia 4 D'yermak'er 4 FARC 4 Ojnoj 4 St. Burbia 4 Thelonia ~ 3 Cor Lupus 3 Persephonia ~ 2 Arcodesia 2 Elëdan 2 Hushkanukia 2 Jupiterdonia 2 Kathaldazia 2 Kingdom of Horanius 2 Mosquetania 2 N DNTN * 2 Numayania 2 Quintessa 2 Skall 2 Taahino 2 Trifoski ~ 1 #00274E 1 Chestoria 1 Fljótavík * 1 FSR Rontvia 1 Greenfroze 1 Land of DW 1 New Lexico 1 Niceland 1 Republic of Adonia 1 Scherzland 1 Terra Avium 1 Utopia 1 Varakë 1 Wholune DEAD 5 Mulgracia 5 Summericia 4 Cumulonimbia 3 Danæviia 3 Dobago 2 Aelandor 2 Aquafina 2 Oslol 2 Singerpurear 2 Zanmatony 1 Beaverdonia 1 Bhangra 1 Lotunia 1 République d'Áskorza * more consecutive entries (19 for Hendinia, 8 for Fljótavík, 5 for N DNTN) have qualified but these streaks were broken by breaks from the contest All of the countries who had runs of more than half a year continued them again this month, meaning we still have a top four with a fairly clear lead over everyone else. Altyr Muunilinst further extend their national record to 21 finals in a row (which now matches FARC's national record to be the joint 8th longest streak among all nations in the contest's history), Hendinia and Aeroche remain in second and third and Bøtanikkä now join them as a fourth nation who have now spent a solid year without being absent from any finals. There's not a great deal else going on in terms of national records with only two other countries currently on national record streaks - unfortunately Cumulonimbia and Summericia both stalled out after matching their previous records last month, but it's better news for Rolloland who make it to 6 in a row for the first time after previously managing 5 in a row in BJSCs 103-107. Otherwise there's only Kingdom of Horanius who follow up their first ever qualification last month with building their first streak as they make it 2 in a row. Aquafina and Zanmatony both suffer their first DNQs since their comebacks putting an end to their non-consecutive contests runs that technically lasted years. Finding it mildly amusing that there's a huge list of countries with 2 in a row and quite a few on 4 in a row too, but I only have Cor Lupus accompanying me on the 3 in a row tier xx
April 21, 20214 yr Seriously? There goes my 50th... I can't rely on BJSC even for Lights apparently. Might skip the next contest, apparently I'm really out of it at the moment. The alt flags are gorgeous though Jafet. Like how did you even have the time and creative energy to do all of this?? Genuinely incredible.

Nico Santos, Lena x Nico Santos, Álvaro Soler, and Lotte were all moderate Hits on the German Charts too Yeah, I used to follow the German charts a lot more than I do now so I knew quite a few of your entries came from there often from recognising the artists (although Sofia was pretty massive across the rest of Europe too to be fair, I wasn't on the forum at the time you entered it but I was a fan of it at the time regardless). Even with this one I thought Never Not Try sounded so much like the sort of song German radio would love too (though it turns out he just won one of the talent shows). Just searching through the songs of BJSC thread I see quite a few massive German hits were sent in the past as well (Geiles Leben, Auf Uns and Atemlos durch die Nacht all came to mind)!
April 21, 20214 yr I really question the taste level of this forum sometimes... but thanks for those that did vote Aesthetica. And that new flag is cute! Might have to adopt it. Back to the drawing board.
April 21, 20214 yr Argh, 23rd feels so close and yet so far </3 I'm disappointed but I don't regret sending it, success is overrated etc. Almost definitely going to retire my flag and use the new one (RIP cinnamon rolls :kink:)! They all look amazing 😍
April 21, 20214 yr 12 POINTS | Q 10 POINTS | Q 08 POINTS | Q 07 POINTS | DANÆVIIA: ATTLAS & Colleen D'Agostino - Feels Like 06 POINTS | Q 05 POINTS | HOLLAND-OATS: The Knocks - R U HIGH (feat. Mallrat) 04 POINTS | Q 03 POINTS | Q 02 POINTS | Q 01 POINTS | Q Those two and Aesthetica going out are "bruh" moments, like were y'all high when forming your rankings?
April 21, 20214 yr I'm gutted that I didn't manage to continue my Q streak but I knew it was a risk sending my song  Thanks for everyone that votes for it. Also Jafet, I love my flag
