Ariana Grande - Into You

UK chart-run: 44-71-54-45-40-34-26-22-14-16-14-14-16-19-21-21-22-22-26-31-33-36-38-43-43-56-71-75R(8)

Today marks 5 years since 'Into You' was unleashed on the world! This was released as the second single from Ariana's third studio album 'Dangerous Woman'. The lead had a rockier edge but this one was an unmistakably huge dance-pop moment. Fans instantly took it under their wing and it's still praised in her discography now. It peaked at #14 in the U.K. (stalling at that position three times as you can see above!) and #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was a downward trend for the era in the States, after 'Dangerous Woman' had reached the top 10, but here this was a better peak than the lead single. This upward trajectory would continue here for single #3 too. Many feel that this song seems a lot bigger than its peak would suggest. This is backed up by a lengthy run of 19 weeks in the top 40 and double platinum status. 'Into You' is a euphoric, flirty moment in her discography - with "a little less conversation and a little more touch my body" particularly standing out lyric-wise. The music video capitalises on this by centering around the thrill of a relationship. The imagery that comes into my head first when thinking of the video is the desert back-drop and bike shots. The video is currently the 7th most watched on Ariana's YouTube channel with 859 million+ views.

How do you feel about 'Into You' 5 years on?

Genuinely, at this point, would probably be in my top 20 or so songs of all time. Definitely my favourite of Ariana's, just a flawless pop banger.

there's some points it'll come on shuffle and i'll skip cause i'm not in the mood but god in the right mood this song just hits all of the right spots! i remember hearing the snippet back in 2016 and going insane over it, hands down a top 5 Ariana song.

Peaking outside the top 10 in most markets but still being a massive seller is just proof of how incredible the song is.

Wow 5 years! You're right it did seem bigger than a #14 peak, deserved Top 5 for sure! Guess it was a slow burner. But honestly one of my favourite tracks of all time, so slick, sexy and fun. It stands as my 12th most streamed track of all time according to Last.fm and 3rd most streamed Ariana track behind 'Break Free (#1)' and 'no tears left to cry (#9)'.

We need more Dance-Pop from her!

there's a lot of talk about the summer of 2016 being the last summer anything felt remotely "normal" and this song really is a time capsule of that summer tbh... so free and flirty and fun but with a sense of imminent danger too
