Am I the only one who was underwhelmed by Destiny last night? I liked the staging but her vocals weren't as on point as I was expecting. Not to say that they were bad or even average - they were good but she sounded a bit nervous. It was interesting watching it with a few friends who hadn't heard any of the songs of the contest yet because they all said they didn't understand why this was a winning contender.

They were all really impressed by Efendi though saying they got major winner vibes. And that was coming from a really mixed group of people (1 gay guy, 1 straight guy, 1 older woman and one younger woman) so I think Efendi's final placement could surprise on saturday!

Watched last night, my rankings of the performances/songs:

Italy

Malta

Israel

Azerbaijan

Ireland (I'm forgiving the vocal as the staging was easily the best, and the song is brilliant!)

Belgium

Cyprus

Russia

The Netherlands

Ukraine

Croatia

North Macedonia (this captured me the most of the big ballads)

Australia (the lighting effects detracted from this too much, sadly)

Germany

Norway

Lithuania (seen it before, song is as expected)

Sweden (a bit forgettable)

Slovenia

Romania (she sounded a bit croaky this time)

I've bolded who I expected to go through, in italics are the AQ performances

While I think the idea behind Ireland's staging was great I think the execution was quite underwhelming. It looked a bit awkward at points and it didn't help that poor Lesley looked a bit nervous. The people with me didn't like the staging at all, we all rated the performance on staging, performance and song and they all gave the staging low scores and it wound up in last place for all five of us.
Ireland we’re robbed in my opinion. Staging was a bit busy for her and her outfit was wrong too but the song was one of the best this year. Quite a weak year for me in term of what I’ve heard so far. Can’t believe the rubbish from the likes of Russia made it through but Ireland didn’t.
Manizha and Go_A and POPPING THE FVCK OFF on ESC's Youtube page pulling so far away in terms of views (4.1m and 2.9m respectively at the moment). Efendi and Elena are at 1.6m in comparison. GO OFF SIS (pl.)!!!

Semi 1 Performances:

01. RUSSIA: Manizha - Russian Woman [4,557,139]

02. UKRAINE: Go_A - Shum [3,282,347]

03. AZERBAIJAN: Efendi - Mata Hari [1,770,762]

04. CYPRUS: Elena Tsagrinou - El Diablo [1,767,677]

08. LITHUANIA: THE ROOP - Discoteque [826,280]

09. NORWAY: TIX - Fallen Angel [458,241]

10. BELGIUM: Hooverphonic - The Wrong Place [458,083]

11. ROMANIA: ROXEN - Amnesia [415,000]

12. SWEDEN: Tusse - Voices [368,575]

13. AUSTRALIA: Montaigne - Technicolour [234,132]

14. IRELAND: Lesley Roy - Maps [201,782]

15. NORTH MACEDONIA: Vasil - Here I Stand [191,618]

16. SLOVENIA: Ana Soklič - Amen [147,062]

Tbh i would have preferred these 10 qualifiers. I love Tusse but I don’t love that song. I could very well see another Damce You Off situation in the final with it. Surprised The Roop aren’t higher.
^^ It's funny that Albina is 5th most watched with currently over 1m.

Would not surprise me if she lost out in the judges vote. Some of her vocals were poor (in my opinion)

Manizha is still #1 trending on YT here, Ukraine is #8. Dat impakt! I can't stop watching Ukraine's performance :cheeseblock:

So Sweden making it to the final on jury votes then?

This remains the best moment of semi 1. The shade of it all

So Sweden making it to the final on jury votes then?

Possibly, unless they scraped through on the televote, the international juries obviously went wild for Voices at Melodifestivalen though so it wouldn't be a surprise if that was the case.

In terms of the public vote, I really think - and have always thought - that Tusse's back story and the fact that the Swedish public have got to know and love him over the last couple of years was so pivotal to the runaway success of Voices at Melodifestivalen.

He's fantastic but musically speaking alone it's one of the most generic songs on offer at Eurovision this year and doesn't pop at all in the context of this lineup like it did in Melodifestivalen, where things do tend to be a bit more generic anyway once it gets to the final  I still think they should have taken a punt on Clara Klingenstrom, and I reckon she would have qualified, it would have stood out beautifully in Semi 1. And then Dotter and Eric Saade would have been better bets for a big hit.

(Watch Tusse come 5th on Saturday now).

Honestly Nikkie is the true star of this year. I just binged the f*** out LookLab interviews and JEE-ZUS she's such a natural hostess/interviewer. I didn't know I could become even more obsessed with her prior to Eurovision.
