If we outscore our opponents we win matches, it's as simple as that. If we actually sign Ronaldo and he improves our goal tally to the point we average 3-4 goals a game then we're gonna win more often than we do presently. It just sounds like nit-picking to be honest, like I said before no fan of any team deep down would say no to Ronaldo if he wanted to sign for their team.
£500k a week for someone who you were not interested in signing 72 hours ago is a dreadful signing. At this stage of his career how much better is he than Cavani? Ronaldo is a good player don't get me wrong, but people also don't see the negative outlook on the team he has had for Juventus and Portugal because everything has to go through him. It has a negative detriment on the team.

You should be expecting to win the league or CL signing Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo. Anything else is a failure really.

He's absolutely leagues ahead of Cavani, that's for sure.

Well we shall see. Take your point about everything going through him but ultimately the goals and points will be the only important metrics regardless of who and how they're being scored. One thing's for sure, given the reaction Varane got at his unveiling I can't wait to see the moment Ronaldo steps back on that pitch!

You need a striker to track back and do defensive work at some stage if you want to win the big games. Playing Sancho, Fernandes, Pogba and Ronaldo in the same team looks fun on paper but there's absolutely no tracking back there and would get slaughtered against City/Liverpool/Chelsea. United's problem was never scoring goals, it's always been the creativity and lack of defensive stability.

He will score goals don't get me wrong, but it's a complete legacy/vanity signing with absolutely zero strategy to it (and what it's worth Juve actually scored less goals since they paid for Ronaldo). #GlazersOut though

Fernandes does a lot of tracking back and Pogba has added it to his a game a bit more. If Ole thinks he can’t play all four against the big teams, he doesn’t have to. He still has plenty of other options. They need to add a midfielder though or I think they’ll still struggle to win anything.

But you have no-one to create anything and play on the counter attack!? I'd like Ronaldo when he left Real Madrid - the Ronaldo of 36 years old is a good player, but I wouldn't take him at Liverpool for example at this age. Because everything changes to go through Ronaldo. Obviously it's pleased the fans, but I still think take the romance away and it's a stupid signing. Rashford or Greenwood going to massively suffer as a consequence.

I do think that it's a signing that's being done because it can be, rather than because it's needed, that money could definitely be better spent elsewhere.
Sky Sports News are painting the picture that Ronaldo wanted to join City but they turned him down and that is the reason why he didn't join them. Lol as if, it wouldn't make sense to suddenly come to United instead. Ronaldo is better than every player that Man City currently have. That Kaveh guy on Sky Sports News was talking about Ronaldo as if he's a has been saying that "he's not the player that he was 10 years ago" , I didn't hear him saying that yesterday when he was linked with Man City. It could have been 1970 Pele and 2012 Messi joining us in addition to Ronaldo and people would still try to find faults.

Aye but Ronaldo will bring in a good 2.5m per week in shirt sales and other sponsorship deals. This is Ed Woodward’s dream transfer from a commercial perspective.

I’m still cackling that City tried, and his toxic little manager tried (presumably just to smoke out United) and city fans really thought they were gonna steal a United legend only for him to end up coming home

I am so stoked at this signing. Ronaldo is a complete GOAT and a winning machine. He’s still hungry for more titles and that kind of attitude will be a big help for the young team. But it is absolutely a romantic and nostalgic signing. The boys coming home. Cavani is gonna have to give him his shirt back! Wouldn’t like to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. “Sure Edi you can go play the internationals, but if you do, Ronaldo takes your Shirt number”

Maybe now we have the necessary creativity to overcome a 10 man Defensive side like Burnley

It's pretty obvious City tried to do a deal, Utd got wind and then came up with a better deal because they couldn't bare him going to City. He is a good player but it's a hell of a lot of money for a 36 year old when there are other gaps in the first XI. People are finding faults because Ronaldo is not the same Ronaldo when he was winning Champions Leagues every season for Real Madrid, he's a completely different player now. I don't think anyone is disputing he is a good player, but it adds a whole load of extra pressure and signing Ronaldo doesn't make your team better. Plenty of people who watch Portugal and Juventus on a regular basis have said the team is better without Ronaldo.

West Ham are closing in on the £25m signing of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.
Watford have signed Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko in a deal worth around £3m.

Yeh I know but just pointing out there’s only a few teams that can pay that each week for one player.

I think there’s a premier league rule stating he might not be able to change with Cavani for the number 7 but they might bend that for the brand that is CR7!

The PL may give special dispensation because of who it is, but it's in the rules that a player can't change squad number and it's never been done previously.

Crystal Palace have signed midfielder Will Hughes from Watford for a fee of around £6m.

The fee for the 26-year-old, who has signed a three-year deal, could rise to £10m with add-ons.

Shaping up to be a fun deadline day, not sure there will be any big moves but it looks like the mid table Premier League teams are going to be very active!
