Rumors: a video for Love Thing

For the new remix?

The Who Do You Think You Are demo version is coming tomorrow (it's already out in New Zealand, Australia)
Heard it and love it! It's cute, pretty much a very developed demo. The chorus is basically Emma and Geri isnt it? Mel C also sounds divine!

Apparently it's getting a lot of criticism on Spice Circle? I haven't seen for myself but  :drama:

I'm looking forward to hearing it

I doubt I'll manage to stay up until midnight to listen to it. Glad they are treating Spice 25 almost like a new album with an instant grat track. They need to get with 2021 ways of doing things.
Ya they really are getting behind it which is really good, im just hoping spiceworld will get the same treatment for its anniversary but not sure it will.

I've played the WDYTYA demo five times. And I will never play it again. Who in the eff thought that releasing an INFERIOR version of a #1 SINGLE that almost single-handedly brought disco back into the 90's pop landscape was a good idea?

I'm seriously asking.

I'd view it more as being interesting to hear an earlier stage of this song's creation before they arrived at the version we know and love!

I was kind of surprised that the instrumental was by and large finished, just a few more finishing touches needed. While the vocals were quite a bit rougher. Also a slight lyric change in Mel B's verse.

I don't really think that the purpose of a demo being released commercially is for it to be heavily listened to. It's more of an "oh so that's how it sounded as they were working on it, cool" thing for me.

I do still wish that there were more completely unreleased songs on the Deluxe CD, to balance out the usage of demos and B Sides. Given that the Spice Girls themselves were involved in this track list, this seems to indicate they really don't think much of a lot of their unreleased stuff - and curiously even a couple of songs that were released. In a way I wish they weren't as hands on. I get that as artists they have the right to want to control what is accessible, but at the same time, I don't think they're willing to put themselves in the shoes of the fans who would absolutely love to hear different songs, regardless of their quality.

It´s a demo what did you expect?

I love hearing the demos as as a long time fan it's interesting to hear how the song started out and then evolved into the song we know and love.

As Jay said I don't think demos are meant for massive repeated listens but a nice thing for fans to appreciate the process if making the song.

It's probably why Feed your love and SYBT mix have done better than the Wannabe demo.

Yawn! That was boring. What a pointless release.
I hope that close to the release of Spice 25 can be released as a proper single the "new" mix of Love Thing included in the CD2, it would be a great way to give justice to their almost (rumored) debut single

If they want to release a demo as an online exclusive, great. Go to YouTube and play it, or whatever. Why waste space on CD2 of SPICE25 with demos? That's my point. And if you're GOING to put a demo on the CD, choose one that is at least somewhat different from the final product. Sure, as a fan, it can be interesting to compare a demo to a final product, but, it would be more compelling for me to buy something that carried more incentive for my ears.

That's a neat idea! I'd be down for that. I still wish they would have released NGUOTGT instead of Headlines in 2007. Imagine them resurrecting a song (that song especially) a decade after it was released, during a time with DenDen crashed because of how much traffic it was getting for the reunion? :yahoo: Good times. Pun intended.

All of this tbh.

It's pretty interesting to dive in to how some songs were first created and their evolution. You can tell that WDYTYA was very polished alread, and it wasnt even probably the first demo of it, but I'll take it.

I think in a way fans are doing too much on this. Yes, we all would have loved some properly unheard tracks, that is their main fault with this release, in my opinion. But I am not here to shit on having these demos released either, because that CD2 is mainly fan-service for a celebration of an old album. It's not going to set the charts alight (though I do hope they do get at least Top10) and most causal buyers wont play it too much. It's more of a collector's item and its nice that it has already sold out in certain places.

My main gripe is, like Jay said, their insistant on being so protective of their unreleased material. Again, it is not going to be reviewed as a 'new album' and those songs wouldnt be released to the radio or sang live either, so it doesnt really make sense to be so protective.

Of course, each to their own and it is their own work so if they dont want to have them available, thats on them. Just wish they (well, some of them at least) would get over that!

The ginger vinyl and cd are sold out on their Web store hopefully that's a good sign. Surely they would have upped allocation of products on there given the vinyl and cassette sold out on their in 2 days last time and the store became redundant. If they want the merch to sell more having the music well stocked is a must as people are more likely to add a t-shirt or jumper to an order than order just a t-shirt.

The merch is shite to be honest. The Emma, Geri and Victoria vinyls are also sold out on their USA store.

I doubt the vinyls will be restocked anytime soon due to mess that is vinyl printing, but there's no excuse for the CD not to be restoked already!!

The merch is what it is im not sure what else you would want or could sell to a mainly bunch of 30 year olds? Any suggestions I can relay them. I was actually asked this a while ago as to if I had suggestions for merch and I was actually a bit stumped.

I mean it needs to be stuff that your average 30 something would buy and or use. Clothes and a mug seem about right, sad I know but I'm not sure what else. The slip mats are something different and a good idea with the vinyl boom.

They should do some seasonal stuff like at Christmas do some Christmas baubles and decorations, Halloween do spice girls candy or laterns, Easter chocolate eggs, mothers day cards etc. That would be cool I'd end up buying all sorts.
