Possibly with Belgium to come, although they could be through by then.

Belgium intend to kick the ball out of play in the 10th minute of their game with Denmark to take part in a minute's applause for Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen is recovering in hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest in the stadium during Denmark's Euro 2020 loss to Finland in Copenhagen on Saturday.

Danish fans are planning the applause as a show of support.

"We'll put the ball into touch to applaud," said striker Romelu Lukaku, a team-mate of Eriksen at Inter Milan.

"Several of our players have played with him. But tomorrow we'll be there to win the game, which promises to be difficult."

Caught the second half of Denmark/Belgium, Denmark had SO MANY chances towards the end of that game but unfortnately couldn't seem to finish it when they needed to, definitely in part down to Belgium's good defending.

This leaves us in an interesting position - if Belgium beat Finland and Denmark beat Russia (both seem quite likely) then we'll have three teams on 3 points apiece!

I was so close to getting the second game in a row correct score line in the predictions game with that breakaway at the end!
Definitely hoping for a 9-3-3-3 finish to this group. Not sure how it's split if Denmark win 1-0 so the three results between them were all the same

I think it would come down to the goals scored and conceded in matches against Belgium which would determine the overall goal difference which slightly suits Denmark at the moment.

Yeah I've no idea if it's GD that separates teams or H2H in this tourno.

It's H2H (between teams level on points) that separates them, then overall GD.

If Denmark win 1-0 against Russia and Belgium beat Finland 2-1 then second place will be decided (between Denmark and Finland) by fair play points!

You can see in majority of the matches that there's not much panic in most teams if they lose matches because there is the possibility of going through as one of the highest ranked 3rd place teams and I think this has encouraged a more cautious and cagey style of football so far. There hasn't been much end-to-end attacking football in the group stage, I think it would have been better if there were 32 teams just like in a World Cup and only the top 2 teams can qualify for the knockout stage.

Turkey for example in Group A have been dreadful so far and have probably been the worst team in the tournament but despite losing both of their matches and not even scoring a goal they still have a chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds. In Group C Austria and Ukraine play each other in the last group match knowing that a draw would be enough for both teams to go through because 4 points would surely get a team into the highest ranked bracket for 3rd place teams and Holland have already won that group and North Macedonia have been eliminated. The Austria Vs Ukraine match in a traditional format would be a winner takes all match with everything on the line, especially as they are tied on goal difference but because of 3rd place they could just draw the match 0-0 and both teams would be happy with that.

Thirty-two teams from 55 UEFA members is too many. Once you take out the no-hopers such as Liechtenstein and Gibraltar and assume that England, Italy, Spain, Germany, France and Netherlands are almost guaranteed to get through, the qualifying tournament would be a very long process to make relatively few decisions. Twenty would work if you had four groups of five with the top two qualifying. The fixtures could be drawn up so that the fifth-ranked team in each group missed the last round of matches, by which time they are likely to have been eliminated.

Tbh I'm not really sure why UEFA felt the need to introduce a last-16 round in 2016 anyway. I wonder if only the 6 group winners and then the top 2 best performing second placed teams advancing would work better.

Although I won't complain at an additional 8 matches of football on TV.

Christian Eriksen has been discharged from hospital after a "successful" operation to fit a heart-starting device.
I don’t really think the games have been poor they’ve been all decent apart from one or two. And anyway when you work so hard to get to the finals what’s the point in being eliminated after one bad result. It’s not perfect but works on for me.
