November 11, 20213 yr I'm not surprised he left for Villa. Realistically this was about the sort of level he was going to go to. He knows their MD from his time at Liverpool, he's obviously been promised money to spend and Villa are a decent sized club who he could easily get in to Europe. They have so many U18-21s coming through, I suspect his time as youth coach at Liverpool has also swayed the board there too. It's a good appointment, I think he is a decent manager and providing he brings his backroom team with him, I think he will do OK at Villa. He's never going to get the Liverpool job in 2024 unless he proves himself and even then, I just don't think Liverpool will appoint him out of sentiment.
November 11, 20213 yr It's a massive risk, more for Gerrard than for Villa but definitely he had to jump at the opportunity like Rodgers did. Needs to get results straight from the off though or else he could easily drown and damage his credentials like Lampard.
November 11, 20213 yr Author Gerrard has got to at least finish in top six and do well in the cup competitions to even be considered for the Liverpool job.
November 12, 20213 yr It's a massive risk, more for Gerrard than for Villa but definitely he had to jump at the opportunity like Rodgers did. Needs to get results straight from the off though or else he could easily drown and damage his credentials like Lampard. True, but even if he fails at Villa he will still get another mid-table job or a top Championship job. See Lampard too- the same could probably be said for Ole when he leaves United too. I'm interested to see how he does, not sure a better club was going to come along for him that has a good set up, plenty of cash and a good youth system too.
November 13, 20213 yr Apparently Dean Smith who was sacked by Aston Villa last week is set to become the new manager of Norwich.
November 15, 20213 yr Always find it pretty embarrassing when you nick a manager who's just been sacked like 2 weeks before, reminds me of Nigel Adkins going to Reading after being sacked by Southampton. But I think he could be a shrewd appointment for the Canaries. At least they have a chance of finishing 19th now instead of last.
November 15, 20213 yr It has been on the news websites for a couple of days that he was about to sign the contract. Waited until pen to paper before this. Craig Shakespeare joins him at Norwich. Also a bit of history, his last match was the defeat against Southampton. First match for Norwich is against the same opponents. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59274626

The 27-year-old footballer, who remains in custody, is now facing six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. November 16, 20213 yr Author Current Odds: (Coral) Man City 8-11f Chelsea 11-4 Liverpool 9-2 West Ham United 50-1 Arsenal 66-1 Man United 66-1
November 18, 20213 yr Author Jesse Lingard's Manchester United future is in doubt after talks over a new contract collapsed. The 28-year-old's present deal expires next summer and United hoped to extend the England midfielder's time at Old Trafford following an excellent loan spell at West Ham in the second half of last season. Lingard opted to stay at Manchester United this season even though six clubs asked about his services, believing manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would provide him with more game time. Instead, Lingard has started just one game all season, the EFL Cup defeat by West Ham in September. He has also made seven substitute appearances, totalling 76 minutes
November 20, 20213 yr I didn’t even bother recording this coz I was out and that appears to have been the right decision. (The 3pm kick offs are on TV here)
November 20, 20213 yr I think the international break should have been extended! It felt refreshing last weekend not having any Premier League football taking place.
November 20, 20213 yr Author Ole went over over to fans to clap it’s almost to say bye. He’s gone now.
November 20, 20213 yr I've said it for ages, Ole is dreadful. Surely there is no way he survives this - he should have been sacked after the Liverpool game.
November 20, 20213 yr Was just thinking that, or just before the international break at the latest. Losing to two of the team's biggest rivals isn't going to help your cause...
November 20, 20213 yr Author Man United are holding an emergency meeting to discuss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future following the chastening defeat at Watford.
