June 25, 20214 yr I do not enjoy being negative about what she does and I love that she is unafraid to champion and own her sexuality the face of societal pressure to go away/hide herself, but that is just a very sad video to watch. To use one of her own phrases, it all feels very reductive.

June 25, 20214 yr That's a pretty standard state of mind for people on this forum. I don't know what I make of it. It's basically a small appearance in a bar and it's nothing more or less than that for me. If I was there I'd probably have loved it.

June 25, 20214 yr That's a pretty standard state of mind for people on this forum. :lol: Oh yes I would have undoubtedly been getting absolute life to it if I was there but, from the out looking in, it just isn't a very good performance. To paraphrase Cher's comments on Miley's 2013 VMA performance, I wouldn't have minded if she came out naked and did a great job, I mind that it wasn't good. It came across rather tacky and messy, she doesn't even seem to singing live or at least the original track is so loud you can't hear her. Imagine Confessions-era Madonna, she would have put on a full-on dance routine and made that small club feel like the biggest stage.
June 25, 20214 yr Unfortunately I have to quote all of the above. Of course being in a room with Madonna would have me DEAD, but her whole attitude lately has been putting me off her a bit. There's nothing new or original about her, and I feel like she looks a bit desperate trying way too hard to be cool. I'll forever love her cause for 30 years/up to a decade ago she was basically impeccable. But at the same time I think she's at her lowest atm. I feel Cher, for example, has managed to retain an iconic status while coming across as a lot more credible than Madge at this point. I don't know what it is, there's just something really off about her for me.

June 25, 20214 yr What I will say is that 'Vogue' -> 'Hung Up' -> 'I Don't Search I Find' is a fantastic run of songs and should have been Madonna's setlist at Eurovision in 2019.
