After reading an interesting Wikipedia page on Billboard Hot 100 chart achievements, I thought it would be good to collect similar data regarding the UK Charts.

If I missed something or you would like to send me Buzzjack links involving any of these particular achievements, feel free to reply!

sadly the latest Ben Howard album also did a 1-OUT :/

This will be very helpful to me, some interesting stats here. Thank you

Perhaps you can do one for the album charts? This mostly focuses on the single charts.

Edited by UKL

It is great to have all these interesting stats in one place, is it possible to add "slowest climb to No. 1" for albums and "fewest weeks on chart for a No. 1"?
Also most new entries in the top 5, top 10, top 20, top 40 etc for any particular week. I think the record is a top 6 all new entries.
Most weeks at number two (without hitting number one)

Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera (7 weeks)

This record is actually Frank Chacksfield “Terry's Theme From 'Limelight’” which had 8 (non-consecutive) weeks at number 2 without going higher.

The consecutive record is shared with All-4-One's “I Swear” in 1994 which went 17-7-{2}-2-2-2-2-2-2-3-6-7-10-16-23-28-39-58->

Actually that was stuck behind Wet Wet Wet, the unique thing about Maroon 5 is that every week the number 1 changed, which was the absolute state of having some records on On Air/On Sale and some using the held back release strategy. Of course the following year that would lead Maroon 5 to hold back “Payphone” which would go to #1 and lead to one of the most ICONIC Top 10 hits of all-time. That being Precision Tunes who went in at number 9 with their 'version' of the same song!

Also most new entries in the top 5, top 10, top 20, top 40 etc for any particular week. I think the record is a top 6 all new entries.

Yes, the Top 6 is the most that has been filled by new entries, as happened on w/e 15/4/00. It happened again on w/e 29/1/05 although this included one of the Elvis re-issues. 5 new entries in the Top 5 also happened on w/e 31/10/98 and w/e 13/11/04.

The most there have been in the Top 10 is seven, as has happened on many occasions, first on w/e 19/4/97 (highest: #2 Blur - Song 2, 7th: #10 Texas - Halo) and most recently on w/e 16/3/17 which is also the only time there have been 13 new entries in the Top 20 - incidentally all by the same artist

If we exclude re-entries, 20 is the most there have been in the Top 40, in w/e 17/5/97 albeit one of these was a climber from #50 (the last UK Eurovision winner, no less). If you count re-entries and new entries combined, there were 29 in w/e 9/1/20 when all the Christmas songs vanished.

You forgot "I Don't Care" by Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber dropping off from the top 100 from No.2 due to it going to ACR that week and becoming the 4th best seller (even though it was actually the number 1 - without ACR). It of course returned at no.2 the following week when SCR was reinstated. It is also worth adding that annotation to some of the drop offs to show that they are due to chart manipulation rather than real chart drop offs.
I'd even suggest having pre-streaming and post-streaming records as the addition of streaming has turned everything on its head.
What happened to maneater for it to drop off from #10?

I expect the song was deleted. Deleting a track (no more physical stock and no more downloads) was common in the 2000s. Once deleted (from physical production not digital), a song had 2 weeks in which it could chart before it was removed due to having no physical presence. This 'physical release required' rule was changed in 2007. Crazy by Gnarls Barkley is a good example of this as it was deleted the last week it was no.1 and then had enough stock left in stores and digital sales to be at 2 and 5 the following 2 weeks before being removed the following week.

Again such 'records' should be marked with an asterisk as they are due to chart manipulation rather than actual sale patterns.

some updates from this year - Sam Ryder did 78-2 [+76] for the biggest climbs section

Peru by Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran spent 6 weeks at #2

also, Tate McRae's she's all i wanna be spent 22 weeks in the top 40 without reaching the top 10

for the most weeks without reaching top 40, there is a thread about this somewhere, i think Ruth B. Dandelions took the record this year spending just under 30 weeks between #41-#75 without ever making the top 40

Moves Like Jagger was actually a held-back release itself. It was released here probably the standard 2-3 months after it was released in other countries, and got pre-release airplay on Radio 2 and a some small local stations.
