Low numbers in the US also. Pretty shocking. The album is amazing but that's what happens when you release really not so good songs before the album. One by one.
Yeah even with the hype dying down I was expecting quite a lot better for the first day numbers. She came close to having her entire album top 30 last time and this time only 5 tracks. I don't think it'll have a great hold up throughout the week either tbh.
So frustrating. This era had potential to obliterate female streaming records if the rollout hadn’t been so terrible

Odd how bunched together the different Billie's songs are.

Clean Bandit in at 120. Must be their lowest debut as even Higher made the top 100 on the first day.

But does this mean "Happier than Ever" will make top 20 and "Oxytocin" top 40 officially based on initial streams? Would be happy (even if not more than ever:) ) with that.

A small fact to understand the level of disappointment.

Happier Than Ever (album) debuted with 12.5m on Spotify US. That's the same amount of streams as good 4 u worldwide number on album release day!!

35.5M WW streams. That's insanely low.

How much did Sour do on its first day for comparison?

Sour done 64 million. When we all fall asleep done 47 million

With 11 songs. This having 16. Only 2 songs in the WW top 20. And Sour stability was and still something else, that's why it broke the record for the biggest streams of all time for a week for a women even when her first numbers weren't the biggest. Also at week 3 she broke the record for the biggest streams of 3-5 weeks on Spotify total, passing Drake and Post.

Wow, those pre-album singles really ruined the performance.

True... Who choose those singles. When HTE and Oxytocin are there.

Guess she did? And tbh this album is pretty uncommercial fare. Never going to be as big as the predecessor.
I'm not subscribing to any sudden diminished quality control theories when "wish you were gay" was the last song released from WWAFA,WDWG before release. "my future" and "NDA" are excellent tracks that just aren't particularly radio/playlist friendly (I don't really go in to bat for "Your Power" but I know plenty do).

Therefore I Am is definitely the most commercial single choice for the album, hence it peaking at #2 in both the UK & US and her sales were less than 1k away from Ariana in its debut week so came very close to getting another #1 single off the back of this album. For a predominately uncommercial album, three top 10 singles and four in the top 20 isn't bad going at all.

I did have doubt about the predictions she would be back in the Top 10 this week, I think getting her three tracks in the Top 40 is more realistic and the album should take strong sales regardless.

:cheer:

Nice to get another trance influenced dance tune doing well on one of the UK charts, Wish You Well and All Day and Night seem so long ago!

But doesnt the album sequencing have something to do with it

Her previous album you play and apart from that brief !!!! you're into "Bad Guy" and then more hits quickly follow. The uncommercial tracks (8, Listen before I Go and I Love You) are at the end.

This album is understated and meandering (although I love it all) especially at the start/middle apart from Oxytocin. The most commercial section Your Power-NDA-Therefore-HTE is right at the end but would casual listeners get that far or repeatedly listen.
