Biography

When Tyler, The Creator first started gaining national notoriety around 2008, it would’ve been easy to dismiss him as cheap shock—a snotty kid willing to push every button (mass murder, rape, cannibalism) just to get a little attention. Within a few years, he’d evolved into one of hip-hop’s genuine polymaths, a self-contained brand who not only rapped, wrote, produced, and art-directed, but designed clothes and created television shows; whose vision—violent, surreal, sarcastic, and disarmingly introspective—captured the id of an audience who didn’t know how to relate to their feelings but weren’t going to keep them in any longer.

Raised in Los Angeles County, Tyler (born Tyler Okonma in 1991) started experimenting with music in his early teens, co-founding the Odd Future collective in 2007, a group whose members included fellow iconoclasts Earl Sweatshirt, Frank Ocean, and Syd Tha Kyd. Influenced by the grab-bag eclecticism of Pharrell Williams and his own tirelessly messed-up inner monologues, his official debut, Goblin, came out in 2011. (“Wow, life’s a cute b***h full of estrogen,” he rapped on the title track. “And when she gives you lemons, n***a, throw ’em at pedestrians.”) Gritty, nightmarish, and barbed, the album established him as a kind of antihero: an artist whose bad reputation only made his fans love him more. Wolf (2013) and Cherry Bomb (2015) explored similar psychological territory with increasing nuance; his productions got more sophisticated too, exploring soul-jazz (“FIND YOUR WINGS”), Latin music (“Tamale”), and ’90s R&B (“Awkward”) in ways that were both discordant and colorful, a full rainbow of bad feeling.

In 2017, he released Flower Boy, an album whose vulnerability and eclecticism represented a major step up—a maturation from young punk to complex young man. It ended up being nominated for a Grammy. Meanwhile, he’d found the time to create not one but three television shows (Loiter Squad, Nuts + Bolts, The Jellies), launch a vibrant streetwear line (Golf Wang), and spearhead an annual festival called the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival. Like Kanye and Pharrell before him, and artists like the BROCKHAMPTON collective after, Tyler represents a new chapter in hip-hop, toying with identity and sexuality, and drawing on influences—skate culture, therapy speak, the kaleidoscopic weirdness of life on the internet—that help to expand rap’s vocabulary while still keeping continuity with the past. In 2019, he released IGOR, his most mood-driven, soul-baring work to date. - Apple Music

Biography

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin once joked that the two biggest challenges in his life were trying to follow Radiohead and trying to follow Brad Pitt. The Pitt reference was personal, of course—Martin had been married to Pitt’s former fiancée Gwyneth Paltrow—but his self-assessment still felt remarkably apt: Coldplay isn’t just one of the most popular bands in the world, but also torchbearers for a kind of mainstream art-rock whose roots reach back through Radiohead, U2, Pink Floyd and even The Beatles. Yes, the music is anthemic enough to fill arenas—“Clocks”, “Speed of Sound”, “Paradise”, “A Sky Full of Stars”—but detailed and atmospheric, too, stretching the conventions of modern rock without ever losing the emotional thread.

Formed in London in the mid-’90s, the band debuted with 2000’s Parachutes. Seasons have changed—the arty experiments of 2008’s Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, the electro-rush of 2011’s Mylo Xyloto, the eclecticism of 2019’s Everyday Life—but the core of their sound has been consistent: Propulsive, uplifting, grand but vulnerable. In crowded bars and lonely bedrooms, the effect is more or less the same: At the end of the day, Coldplay came for the heart. - Apple Music

Biography

Russ Millions

Shylo Batchelor Ashby Milwood (born 20 March 1996), known professionally as Russ Millions or Russ Splash or simply Russ, is a British rapper and songwriter. In December 2018 he released his single "Gun Lean" on Virgin Records. The track peaked at number 9 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming the first UK drill track to reach the top 10. The dance that Russ performs in the music video became a "dance craze" and was mimicked by footballers including Jesse Lingard. It was ranked by The Guardian at number 10 on their list of "greatest pop music dance crazes". In April 2019 his follow-up single "Keisha & Becky" with Tion Wayne entered the UK Singles Chart at number 19, and later peaked at number seven. The song later became BPI platinum certified. - Wikipedia

Tion Wayne

Tion Wayne first started to make a name for himself in 2010 after dropping a handful of videos for various online streaming channels. The Edmonton, North London-based MC quickly started to rise through the ranks of a predominantly D.I.Y. underground scene, and by 2014 delivered his first proper mixtape, Wayne's World. Continuing to push his sound on social media and online video streaming, Wayne had built a loyal following by 2016 and had supported artists such as U.S. rapper Rick Ross and Ghanaian hip-hop artist Sarkodie. His follow-up mixtape, Wayne's World, Vol. 2, was also released that year and saw him joined by the likes of One Acen, Scorcher, and frequent collaborator Afro B. Wayne released the Transition EP in 2017 while also playing a host of live dates across the U.K., including a sold-out show at London's Electric Ballroom. - Apple Music

Biography

"Three Lions" is a song released in 1996 as a single by English band The Lightning Seeds to mark the England football team's participation in that year's European Championships, held in England. The music was written by the Lightning Seeds' Ian Broudie, with comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner—presenters of football-themed comedy show Fantasy Football League at the time—providing the lyrics.

The title comes from the emblem of the England football team, which is in turn derived from the Coat of Arms of England. This song is one of only three songs to top the British charts twice with different lyrics, the others being "Mambo No. 5" (in versions by Lou Bega and Bob the Builder) and "Do They Know It's Christmas?" (by Band Aid and Band Aid 30). It also regularly reappears in the UK singles chart around major football tournaments involving the England team. - Wikipedia

I hope this goes on to become a hit! Not normally my kinda thing but this is huge sounding.

Tyler  his new album is fantastic, I was nervous after the standard of 'IGOR' but it's an effective switch-up, quite a throwback hip-hop sound.

'WUSYANAME' isn't an essential for me from the record but it's accessible so I can see why it's been the chosen one

Called it :cheer:

It was #24 the equivalent week in 2018, so that's progress. Guess it's prospects next week mostly depend on "one night in Rome" tomorrow...

I was playing this very loud on Tuesday, hopefulyl we get through tomorrow :cheer:
Afternoo folks, bit late today with work but nice to hear Three Lions again!
England potentially having two games within the next chart week will do wonders.. particularly if they win both. Top 10 next week?
WUSYANAME is good! It sounds straight out of a sunny 1993 day on the basketball court

Biography

hi there! my name is olivia! I’m 18 years old and writing songs is my favorite thing to do in the world. I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember and I fall more in love with it every day. The first song I ever got published was called “All I Want.” I wrote it for a show I act in and it was a super cool experience that opened up a lot of doors for me. On the last day before Covid lockdown, I met the team at Interscope/Geffen records and a producer named Dan Nigro for the first time. It turned out to be a very momentous day for so many reasons. I spent most of quarantine writing songs in my living room and producing them in a garage, including ‘drivers license’. It was always a really special song to me but I never expected the response it got. It absolutely blew my mind and I still to this day refuse to believe it all actually happened. The day I am writing this is actually the day that I turn in my debut album! I’m sooo excited for you to hear it and I feel so grateful that I get to make music for my job. - Spotify
