Atomic Kitten went up in my affections hugely when Kerry left, the addition of Jenny transformed the band from fun but tacky to warm, slick and polished. I know Kerry's voice was on Whole Again when it went to No.1, and that's seen as the definitive version of the song - which is fair, but I'm not so sure their career would have followed on the same trajectory afterwards if she'd stayed with the band - the record company wanted cool, shiny MOR after Whole Again which Jenny was great at. I couldn't imagine Kerry on It's Ok, Love Doesn't Have To Hurt, The Last Goodbye etc...

Neither Kerry or Jenny are great singers and Natasha and Liz completely carried the group, but Jenny seemed like more of a natural fit with the other two.

I used to absolutely ADORE them, Right Now (re-release) and Ladies Night are still two of my favourite girlband albums. I still listen to Believer, Nothing In The World and I Won't Be There from the latter a lot, as well as the singles.

The Southgate track does sound cheap and quickly thrown together but it's lovely to see them back with Jenny again. Also, it's not their first football track, this cover of All Together Now was a top 20 hit for them in Germany in 2006 - it was recorded for the World Cup that year. I remember hearing it at the time, but had completely forgotten about it until I bought an old German compilation with it on recently.

See, I'm the opposite here - I thought the original incarnation of Atomic Kitten which seemed to pluck influences from Japan was more interesting than the MOR girl group that the record label obviously wanted post-Whole Again. Each to their own I guess, but Kerry 4-eva.

True, their image was definitely an interesting concept but sadly it didn't seem to work commercially. I Want Your Love, See Ya and Right Now were all great pop songs that deserved far better chart runs and peaks - something didn't seem to click with the public.

When it became clear that people loved Whole Again, regardless of whether Kerry had stayed or left, they would not have continued with that early image as the record company would have pushed them down the MOR path. I'm not sure how Kerry would have felt about that as I'm sure the fun and cheeky element of the band's early years came largely from her influence. Liz seems well suited to MOR and Natasha fits both well as she has a great personality but is also a strong singer on the ballads.

The real mystery is how Follow Me flopped at No.20 a few months prior to Whole Again. If the public were into their MOR mid-tempos, why wasn't that one better appreciated, it's a great song with a strong singalong chorus.

i don't even remember the melody to 'follow me' so perhaps that's why... i never understood why 'I want your love' wasn't a bigger hit though... that went off!

Omg howling! On a side note, was Jenny’s mic even on lol?

So I'm finally listening to this and I LOVE IT. I hope this propels them back into focus and we get some new stuff whatever the line-up

Omg at the YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOUT video edit

Has this got a good chance of charting? Really hope so!

Ya I'd like to happen to but would prefer Jenny in the line up over Kerry unless they go with the 4 of them. I'm half expecting a re release of their greatest hits with added bonus tracks.

11K streams on it's debut day on Spotify, not much, but could rank up some streams if they win tonight (literally the first time this whole competition I actually care about a country winning).

Up to 230K streams in the second day :cheer: Assuming most of them are from the UK + combined with their iTunes position, could this actually chart this week?

It's possible - obviously it will fall right off after Sunday when football's done as I doubt anyone would want to listen to it afterwards.

Still, Atomic Kitten being streamed in 2021 - who would've thought?

Maybe if England wins if will have some live after Sunday as I imagine everyone will go football crazy then (no idea how much change they have of winning?).

I know right, definitely the most surprising comeback of the year. New Sugababes remixes, Atomic Kitten coming back, new Spice Girls song. We are being spoiled.
