Even though Melanie always does well, it seemed a little risky to go with her on this occasion 🥺 Viva Forever felt like a safer choice to try and see Spice Girls make it to the second half. If we get to that stage, maybe we will send Northern Star and Maybe so at least casual voters could make some discoveries, even if they don’t vote for them 🧐 Might be a good idea to send one Mel B, Geri and Victoria song too… suppose it depends on whether they have good enough choices that fit the upcoming round descriptions.

Our short term goal (well, maybe it's just my goal :kink: ) is to get the Spice Girls into the second half of the contest - remembering that 12 forums will be culled after Round 5! After 3 rounds I think we're kind of borderline in achieving that. I feel like Northern Star would have continued to have us borderline, or maybe falling below the top 12 #pessimistic. Viva Forever being generally well received should give us a good boost in the rankings!

 

The second half of this contest: if artists such as Britney, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Madonna etc are there, then I don't think there's really much chance of Spice Girls winning... even if we'd reserved Viva Forever and also sent songs such as Spice Up Your Life and Wannabe. :thinking: So maybe that would be a good point in the contest for us to "have fun" and send some different songs? Even if we ultimately flop, at least we'd get to send 10 songs rather than just 5!

 

(Yes I'm taking this more seriously than I should, but I get invested :kink: )

 

P.S. The winner is determined by which forum has the best voting average across the entire 10 contests, so in regards to that overall result... it doesn't matter too much whether Viva Forever was sent now or another time. Having said that, if it gets lots of votes in this round then that'll be great for the average. Perhaps more beneficial than if we'd reserved it and it had ended up in a list of much stronger songs.

Round 1: 14th (tied) [25/60] What Took You So Long? (Free choice)

Round 2: 5th (tied) [34/53] Never Give Up on the Good Times (Album track)

Round 3: 4th (tied) [34/53] When You're Gone (Free choice - previously unsent songs)

Round 4: 4th (tied) [42/56] Viva Forever (Ballads & midtempos)

 

Great that we've been Top 5 in the past three rounds! 1 in 4 voters not considering Viva Forever to be in the Top 12 best songs of the round... well, we all have different tastes...! ^_^

 

Round 5 is Free Choice!

 

I'm sure that all the artist forums will be making really strong song choices, in an attempt to try and make sure their forums are within the Top 12 of the first five rounds, in order to progress to the second half of the contest. Based on the above results, presumably we are currently within the Top 12 best performing... but I can imagine that if we send the "wrong" song in Round 5 and underperform, we could fall out of the Top 12.

 

Do you guys have any suggestions for song choices? What do you think would be well received?

I don't think now is the right time to go with the "unknown entity" that is Maybe :cry:
