didnt expect Hans Zimmer would be contending for a top ten album with a film score and outdoing Lady Gaga in the first midweeks !

1. That OST has 21 songs, including the theme song sung by Billie, while LFS has only 12 jazz songs in its deluxe version

2. I don't even know why this soundtrack is able to enter the main chart

3. It's Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, not Lady Gaga.

What does the number of tracks have to do with anything?

It's not the first soundtrack by Hans Zimmer to have made the chart: https://www.officialcharts.com/artist/1795/hans-zimmer/

And obviously an album with more songs is more likely to have a higher position on the chart than another album with less songs, especially if that album is a jazz album.
You know we're talking about the new OCC rules about soundtracks not being allowed to enter the main chart right?

I didn't actually mention anything about the OCC rules, I just said that Hans Zimmer soundtracks have charted before, but while we're here, this is from the OCC rules:

Compilation Album Chart Includes original soundtracks unless all tracks feature the same artist, cast recordings, multi orchestral recordings, and “1 artist per side” albums (if not new).

All of the songs on the soundtrack are credited to Hans Zimmer except Billie's song at the end, so perhaps it should be in compilations but at the same time, I could understand if the OCC decide it's an artist album because it effectively is.

Where does this make a difference? The OCC only count streams for the top 12 most streamed songs on an album. Love for Sale is not handicapped in comparison to the Hans Zimmer thing as far as streaming goes.

LFS is actually billed to Tony first.

I wonder if the Spotify numbers are incorporated btw. Seems mysteriously low numbers for Drake if he is not in top 7 now on albums. We know that the song play counts haven't updated since Thursday...

Good to see Roger Taylor and Yes in the top 10. I listened to the Yes album on Spotify and was disappointed. They are not the same without Jon Anderson.

If an album has two artists singing on it then it doesn't belong to just one of the artists, plus, people only bought this album because of that Billie song and because it's a Bond movie soundtrack, as the last time Hans hit the chart was at #96 in 2013. And don't try to compare a jazz album to a huge franchise soundtrack in 2021.

Gaga fans continue to be insufferable still in 2021. It's doing rubbish, #6 and likely to drop when album sales are low and it I'm sure has a zillion formats. Just take the loss and move on.

Drake did 3,057 as of last Monday's mids, so not that mysterious if he's done a similar but slightly lower number this week.

Oh gosh not sure where Tony and Gaga will end up :drama: Cheek to Cheek felt like it had more hype and Radio 2 support and that entered at #10

That soundtrack should be disqualified

Take your complaint to the OCC. I truly don't care where the Hans Zimmer soundtrack charts, but I can see a case for both charts.

This case could be made for pretty much any album. Love for Sale is probably only being bought because Gaga's attached. (I don't say that to be shady, I know it's a lovely sentiment for Gaga to record one more album with Tony and it's doing fine for what it is, but the point is there)

Please point to where I compared the two albums?

Just seen that NTTD has re-entered at #65. I wonder if it will jump high enough for a reset?

That bitch!

Tbh The Script's sales are a lot higher than I expected, I really didn't think their name still had enough pull behind it to shift decent numbers of a greatest hits in 2021 but then again they do usually get #1 so I guess I shouldn't have underestimated them. Was kind of expecting to see The Specials at #1 though!
