Gaga fans continue to be insufferable still in 2021. It's doing rubbish, #6 and likely to drop when album sales are low and it I'm sure has a zillion formats. Just take the loss and move on.

You wasted time foaming up and forgot to mention that it's a jazz album in 2021, where the charts are directly controlled by streaming playlists, where this album has 0 exposure. ^_^

and especially trying to justify the album flopping with stupid arguments like number of tracks

instead of accepting Gaga fans want camp Gaga not jazz Gaga, that's it, pure and simple.

"flOpPiNg" :spongebob:

It's a jazz album with zero streaming support, what did you expect? Not to mention the scalphobetic drop in pure sales since 2014. CTC opened with 10k in the UK at a much healthier time in both pure sales and global health. The new album will open near those numbers with less promotion, so its sales are more than decent. You should check your "flopping" concept.

now that I've heard the Gaga album I understand totally why she's flopping, she's totally clueless about how to sing a jazz album

Gaga doesn't sing, she shouts and over-sings screaming all songs at the top of her lungs from beginning to end

that's how you do Glee the Musical but that's not how you do a jazz album

this is how Jessie J would do a jazz album :D

Funny how most of the reviewers disagree there though, for instance.

she can be completely convincing in this idiom that blurs jazz singing and crooning, and their voices blend like two horns: hers having a slightly brassy quality that she can tame to prettiness, and his a rasp he can disguise with a bronze veneer. [...]Sometimes she sounds like Ella Fitzgerald and sometimes like Judy Garland – which is weird, given those two greats were polar opposites in timbre and phrasing.

To add, the songs are from musicals anyway, and I personally think her style of singing works very well on this album. They are also improvising a lot, especially on I've Got You Under My Skin.

Gaga could record the sounds of her going to the toilet and it would still get a 9-38-67-160 chart run like this is going to have. It's not like she's bringing jazz to the mainstream or changing the game with it. It's just her usual hard-core fans (minus the sane ones) buying it.

Isn't that a bit unnecessary

Why are you so upset about a Gaga jazz side project?

Yeah, I would say on Cheek 2 Cheek she was definitely shouting her way through the songs (and in the 2013/2014 era she was definitely guilty of doing that in general), but on this her voice sounds a lot more refined.

I’m sane and I bought it because I love Gaga’s voice, she could sing me the phonebook and I’d be interested frankly but these songs are classics and she sings them very well to my ears.

I enjoy the jazz projects with Tony Bennett because it’s nice to hear Gaga in a different musical setting. She’s incredibly versatile and good on her for breaking away from some of the expected conventions for a major pop star, her last three albums have been a successful film soundtrack of largely pop and rock ballads, hi-NRG disco pop and now jazz, I really respect her for not just straddling the same lane.

The personal comments against Gaga and her fans are really a bit uncalled for. I’m not really a fan of this jazz project but there’s no need to be so negative about it, it’s doing fine in the current market when was the last time a jazz album set the charts alight?

I think there have been some European jazz singers, like Caro Emerald? Her two albums were pretty big but not much has happened since 2013.

It's fair to say, that anything even remotely jazz won't do much outside the Christmas songs/season. Jamie Cullum used to chart well a decade ago, but even his most recent Christmas album reached only #11.

Regarding Gaga shouting, watch the performance of New York New York from 2015, and then the recent one from last week. The difference is remarkable.

Caro is Dutch! Her second album hit the top if I remember rightly. But she hasn’t released a third yet and it’s been forever.

Thrilled that the Sugababes are just about clinging on. Should be on for a new peak

I’d love it so much if Sugababes could cling onto the top 10, even #10 would be amazeballs!!

Two fantastic albums <3 It's odd because she's still touring and doesn't keep a low profile or anything, so I'm not sure what the major wait is. There must surely be a plan for a third album soon, I can't see it doing as well as the first two because of the massive gap, but I'm sure Radio 2 will still support her.

Although this article from 2018 is interesting on her thought processes: https://www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.u...est-tour-568388

So happy Adele is coming to end Ed's reign of terror. Knowing how chart-obsessed he is he must be fuming.

He planned for the early date to make sure he gets some weeks in at #1, so i don't think he'll be TOO mad lol.
