As publicity campaigns go, it's genuinely hard to imagine how the rollout for Jesy Nelson's Boyz could have been any more bizarre. To remind you of the timeline so far:

 

First, the big VMAs performance was cancelled in a cloud of anti-vax speculation. Then the single got pushed back when Nicki Minaj sparked a three-day international news cycle about her cousin's friend's balls. After months of stalled hype, the song was finally released to a chorus of blackfishing accusations. And Jesy and Nicki's attempts to clear the air on Instagram Live only served to pour petrol on the flames of a fight with her former bandmates (one that has raged so far out of control that there are now headlines about how Jesy has blocked Perrie Edwards' dog on Instagram).

 

Sources from the Jesy camp have been in the press the last few days trying to express their sadness that the story has descended into a tawdry 'Jesy v Little Mix' fight – but that line is a little disingenuous.

 

Had it not been for the multiple obstacles that Nicki Minaj placed in the way throughout, the original plan had been to release Boyz back in August, in an attempt to torpedo the Little Mix 10th anniversary

He is just trolling at this point, commenting at any clapback "stream Boyz". A complete and utter embarrassment and I won't give him the attention he so deeply craves.

Well if Nohun is telling the truth, he's within his right to back himself when people are calling him a liar and nasty names, however I will not tolerate him slandering Leigh-Anne and calling her names. It is never okay to call anyone anything horrible.

 

I think if it wasn't real we'd have had a short statement, but the screenshots, screen recordings and it being shown on numerous lives prove it's real.

 

I just want Leigh-Anne and Jesy to talk things out (obviously unlikely to happen anytime soon while things are so fresh).

 

I would also like to see Jesy take some accountability and address things.

This is, yet again, wrong on so many levels. The whole "she is more masculine and more feminine" line is GROSS, like saying "she is the man and she is the woman" in a relationship which is such a homophobic thing to say and she should know better.

Let's be honest be doesn't care about Jesy or Leugh-Anne, he just cares about the clout that will hopefully be very short lived.

 

Tbh he was a very big Little Mix stan, so i'm not sure if its fair to say whether he cares about them or not.

 

Plus he was quite a popular influencer in the first, but yes I agree this does help him get attention.

He can't be that huge of a fan of he is helping to incite hatred towards Leigh-Anne and being this messy.

 

I know it's all down to opinion but I never understood how he was popular, he's not funny or interesting.

that's true, but it was her team saying they were sad it turned into this - even though they have control? and even then she would've lost a lot of fans, too - either way it wasn't a smart move?

Oh, a stupid move. I think her team were probably expecting it to be a headline creating story and “all publicity is good publicity”. As this week has proved, that’s very evidently not the case and sometimes it can backfire big time.

He had NO RIGHT getting involved in shit that didn't concern him?! LMAO. This was a Jesy/Leigh (+ Jade & Perrie ig) situation and a situation that could've easily been resolved. She didn't even say it seriously and more of a flippant response to his video, if he was telling the truth and they were real. She also had every right to be annoyed, the only foolish (but not wrong) thing L-A did in this was message a nobody about the situation. She had every right to vent, especially seeing as it's been said that she's tried to have conversations with Jesy about this very topic in the past.

 

I just honestly think Jesy needs a better PR team and better people around her. I really hope SHE is OK, coz I can't imagine it's doing too great for her mental health. Just a quick IG story saying "Sorry and she never meant to cause so much offense. It's all new to me and I'm still trying to learn" or whatever etc.. would suffice*, but nope. Going on IG live with Nicki was somehow the better option, despite knowing full well Nicki was going to be talking about it and (very likely) to make it much worse than what it was.

 

* - not saying people wouldn't tear the apology apart, but it'd show she was aware of it and trying to make some kind of change with it etc..

As other people have unfortunately said, she doesn't strike me as a very bright person. That's fine - Brad Pitt as an example seems dumb like a rock, but is at least smart enough to surround himself with the right PR to make up for his lack of brains. Jesy needs to do the same so she stops putting her foot in her mouth.

I keep seeing it all the time, random ‘review’ videos on YouTube with people who are clearly not interested but use the name to get views....

This isn't a Jesy Nelson Appreciation Thread. It's a thread to discuss the song and the chart performance of it is going to be one of the key discussions here. If I want to come here and point out that she's flopping then I will. It doesn't make me a hater. I don't even hate Jesy. I think she's been really stupid lately and i hope this backfires completely on her and she acknowledges and apologizes about what she's done - does that mean I hate her?

 

The song isn't doing well. It's out of the Spotify top 50 already, it's YouTube views have slowed down dramatically, it's falling on all metrics and this is supposed to be the big launch single leading to more singles and an album. How is it much of an achievement that it went top 5 it's debut week when everyone in the UK clearly checked it out of interest/curiosity and then abandoned it the next weeks when they realised how f***ing awful it is? If you want to celebrate that meaningless arbitary number 5 chart position then do it, but don't act like anyone coming here and telling you that it will be remembered as a huge flop and an embarrassment of a release in future is only doing so because you think they're some 12 year old who genuinely cares enough to have hatred towards a stranger.

 

Can I ask you what exactly her appeal is that makes you root for her so much? I don't get it. She threw Leigh-Anne under a bus and laughed as she was insulted by Nicki on an Instagram Live with 100K people watching, ignored all requests by Leigh to stop blackfishing, failed to support Leigh's documentary about racism, completely copied and pasted Diddy's song AND video offering nothing unique or creative and then she blocks anyone who calls her out and insists they're only doing so because they're jealous.

 

What exactly is it that you're supporting her for? Fair enough if you like the song and think it's a bop but to actually be so adamant that she's completely in the right and think she deserves success after her behaviour is so strange to me. People who show toxic and awful behaviour do not deserve to be celebrated. Your loyalty should be towards Leigh and the other girls here.

It is bizarre to me that you think you have the right to tell me how I should feel and that I should pick a side. As previously mentioned everyone has a right to an opinion, so respect mine. I respect others as long as they are respectful, your comments and others have not been and show no common courtesy to those who have asked for a single thread for peace where actual fans of the song can discuss it.

 

Please do not even downplay the fact this song went Top 5, when this is an amazing achievement whether you like it or not. All of us are happy when LM achieve that, yet here you are when it is Jesy saying it is not a big deal, i'm sorry but that is a load of BS. If Boyz is a 'big flop', I hate to think what L(SL) may be, the lead single from a new album considering its abysmal chart run so far - which I do not comment on as I respect the girls and it is what it is and i appreciate people like the song. I don't go in threads saying how embarrassing it is and what an awful start it is for their new album campaign. It is called showing respect, try it maybe?

 

Also, I'm sorry but who on earth are you to tell me who my loyalty should be with? I do not believe Leigh is some angel in this situation either - EVERYONE has done something not right. I do not appreciate constantly being told by people i'm guessing are not a POC how I should feel about this whole situation. Just because you do not like Jesy does not give you the right to tell me I should not support her or root for her to do well.

 

I have not once said she's completely in the right with everything, but Leigh certainly is not either. She should not have been messaging people to make horrible videos about someone she first hand knows suffered so badly with mental health issues led her to trying to kill herself. Do not bore me with 'the screenshots are fake', it has been proven multiple times they are real. It is just plain nasty to message someone who has a large platform to incite hate about someone knowing how much it'll effect their mental health.

 

Why on earth would Jesy defend someone who is messaging people to be nasty about her? I hardly doubt you would defend a former friend who did that, I definitely would not. Especially when that said person is calling someone out for black fishing but yet doesn't have the same energy for her best friend Gabrielle, i'm not here for people who pick and choose when something is an issue but holding different standards for someone who is their friend. You say Jesy shows toxic behaviour but i'm sorry what the hell was Leigh's behaviour? She is fully justified to be annoyed but to be messaging people to purposely get people to troll Jesy is not okay and that is extremely toxic. You would lose your mind if Jesy did anything similar about Leigh-Anne and rip her to shreds but because this was someone other than Jesy it is not an issue for you. Some fans just pick and choose what is an issue and are just hypocrites.

 

You say you don't hate Jesy but your responses say otherwise, I hate to think what you say about someone you do hate.

 

Also lets not start with she's copying other people, many artists use samples, especially LM too, most recently with L(SL). But it is again and issue when Jesy does it? Jesy made it quite clear it samples the song and she was re-making the video, so why on earth would you think it was would be original? How is any song with a sample original?

 

I support all four girls and continue to do so. I am not picking a side of being solely Team Jesy or Team Little Mix. You can support both, I choose to support both.

 

You have no right to tell me whether I should support someone or not. You're literally here telling me to turn on someone just to be a sheep and follow others opinions. I appreciate my opinion may not be the same as the majority, but I believe my voice as a POC should be heard and not ignored and completely disregarded.

 

All i'm saying is to be respectful even if you don't like someone. I personally still like Jesy and as a POC she has not offended me at all and I really enjoy BOYZ. So I get quite angry when people have the audacity to tell me, a POC how I should feel about this topic. It is incredibly insulting, especially when the people that say this to me are people that probably are not POC.

But Slayer, why do you keep saying Leigh was messaging people though? Thought it was just one person? Because saying she "keeps messaging people" is significantly different from messaging someone.

Maybe I'm biased, but I never actually read that message as Leigh seriously wanting him to make a video. Her last text was in the lines of "maybe I'm just fuming".
