Shocked that ABBA might do even less than Ed :o

If I’m Adele’s team, I’m starting to get worried looking at these pure sales for Ed and ABBA.

Maybe cancelled pre-orders?

Or maybe there's data missing? Like last week Friday data for HMV was missing when we got Ed's first sales update.

If they did 92k Friday, they should be on for more than Ed last week I would've thought? I can see them selling well this weekend as people begin their Christmas shopping.

There still could be a lot of orders and bundles that haven't shipped yet due to the delayed variant that haven't been included?

Amazon have also sold out of both vinyl which will have an impact.

I don’t think she has to worry

There are probably just a lot of pre-orders that haven't shipped yet - although unless there's an absolute boatload of those still to add it does look like they're not going to be doing that much more than Ed did last week, if they beat him at all.

The ABBA Album will have a lot of 'Orders' missing. I Pre-Ordered 6 copies.

I've only had 3 of them. Amazon say that due to 'delays' I can't have the

other 3 copies until November 22nd.

Another underperformed album - ish. Adele must be doing really low number also. I can't see her just doing so many if the others can't.
Their pure sales are probably going to drop off extremely quickly during the week though. And I'm not convinced that a new ABBA album is going to be a big draw for casual purchases, to the extent that casual album purchases are still a thing that exist for any album.

There have been issues getting the black vinyl edition of Voyage out to a number of shops and they will only be getting them in in this area on Monday / Tuesday

I'm interested to see how ABBA's numbers progress as the week goes on. Given the delays for some of the vinyls etc, they may sell really well throughout the week as opposed to being very frontloaded.

They did 92k in one day and people think they're underperforming and they'll do less than Ed for the whole week? That must be miles more than he did on his first day.

His total by Wednesday's update was 116k, but ABBA are going to have more than that by Monday surely.

They've been hit by a lot of delays, so they'll still have quite a bit of physical sales to add, though they may not come for another couple of weeks.

The 92k is correct. I feel as though the reported pre orders may have been international

Suddenly Ed's 1st week now looking so bad. They won't do much in streaming sales so will have to have really good physical sales through the week to beat him.

Ed will have had a lot more streaming sales added through the week though keeping his total going steadily up. ABBA will need to keep selling a lot of physicals to keep sales going.

I think that will depend on how much data they have missing now that gets added before Monday, I'm not sure I could see them selling 24k in actual new sales today and tomorrow. Ed was doing about 8k per day most of last week and that was including streaming which, while underwhelming by his usual standards, was still significantly more than ABBA will be doing. Are ABBA really likely to be that much more of a casual seller than Ed?

I guess the pre orders have inflated our expectations, perhaps more than they should have, but ABBA getting a Number 1 album in 2021 with a six figure sale will still be quite a moment.
The shipment of ABBA vinyls from the Universal store has been affected by a warehouse fire. So far the only copies from them that have arrived for me are the cassettes I ordered this week. Yet the 4 vinyl copies I ordered from them right back in September still haven't been shipped so I think the 110,000 pre-orders is still likely to have been accurate for the UK alone.

I think we’ve really overestimated their sales. But I wouldn’t call this an underperformance by any stretch of the imagination. Theyre going to have the biggest opening sales since 2017 (until Adele comes along) and the market has absolutely plummeted in the last 2/3 years. It’s still going to be a fantastic seller!
One thing I noticed in my local Tesco is that they have a display as you walk in the door for the ABBA CD so it will catch the interest of the casual buyer who’s out just to do their food shop. Something they didn’t do this time with the Ed Sheeran album. They did with Divide and even No.6 so not sure why they didn’t think it was worth it with Equals.

Ed did 84K by Monday so doing 92K in day 1 is pretty good

sure theres a lot of missing data from incomplete orders

unlike Ed, ABB has a crazy fanbase that will buy multiple formats and all existing vinyls and cassettes

Ed only did 11K on vinyl so clearly he doesn't have the hardcore collector fanbase
