"Against" is a strong word, but yes I think they should be valued higher than they once were and we definitely don't need to go back to days when physical singles and albums were super cheap, especially most of them being collector's items now.

It’s the norm now to sell cheap - week 2 saw Billie Eilish bundle together 4 formats and a signed art card for £5 an item, Dermott Kennedy knocked out signed CD singles for £1.99 with free delivery. It’s a trend that will increase in the weekly battles for chart supremacy.

You stan Gaga… don‘t.

What a bizarre thing to say. Because Gaga's known for her 'boring' and 'generic' music...?

Any comparison to Duffy's second era is tasteless, glad she's even with us after what she went through.

As disgusting as that is, the comparison is fair, adele and Duffy both released their debuts around the same time, Duffy was actually significantly more successful than Adeles 19 album, she even beat adele in most brit award categories they were both in, second eras though Adele went stratospheric Duffy's success dwindled

This.

I'm no fan of Ed (or Adele for that matter) but I want both their albums to sell well to keep physical sales alive. If that also includes cheap CD singles, that's fine by me. I also like the fact that some acts do care enough about the charts and chart positions to keep releasing physical singles.

If only Ed, Adele and a couple of other artists are selling physicals they are not gonna stay alive…

But it’s not just them is it? Most artists are releasing 12+ formats of their album each week, it’s just that Adele and Ed can shift significantly more and give the overall physical market a boost

Not sure what the demand will be for 99p unsigned CD singles of ‘Shivers’ to be honest but of course any sales will help in the chart battle between them.

My Sweet Lorde doesn’t :D

Could be worst could had new Lewie Capaldi album

That will be the big album release next year I would imagine. He seems to have took over from Ed as the down to earth unlikely pop star.

Given Someone You Loved still gets more than 1 million streams per week in the UK and the other singles hundreds of thousands that seems unlikely (unfortunately).

But Gaga is literally the opposite of generic and boring. A reissue album and then a remix album with various underground artists and then a jazz album with a 95-year-old man and then performing jazz concerts in Vegas and then starring in a murder movie, being singled out as one of the favorites to win the award Best Actress at the 2022 Academy Awards, all in just five months, Ed can only wish to have this range.

Ed Sheeran has another album ready for 2022 apparently

"Shivers [Jax Jones Remix]" was just released. "Easy on Me" must've taken the lead.
Jax Jones I guess is a slightly bigger draw for UK streams than the other remixes he dropped but I still can't imagine it'll do enough to cancel out the increase Adele will get from her CDs (unless people really think en masse that £3.99 is too much and no one buys them lol).

Imagine using a reissue and remix album and a 2nd jazz album with the same old crooner to try and prove an artists isnt generic or boring. I'm sure the general public and even Gaga fans were on the edge of their seats to get 3 albums in a row that were just rehashing stuff already done.

Using your logic Ed''s last album was a collab album of a lot of different genres, his last Xmas number 1 had remixes with Beyonce and a classical singer and he has a Christmas song coming out with Elton John and an album of original material out this week too.
