November 4, 20214 yr That is certainly not something I hear very often lol, × seems to be generally regarded as his best from fans and non-fans alike.
November 4, 20214 yr While Eds sales are not nearly as high as i thought they would be its still good seeing an album pass 100k in its opening week as its adds life to the album chart. Ed should manage consistent good sales for a while which will help build up its numbers but i cant see = coming anywhere close to sales X managed and other ed albums. Ed should manage consistent good sales for a while which will help build up its numbers but i cant see = coming anywhere close to sales X managed and other ed albums. & this is the thing. His sales are still extremely good in the current climate. If he was another artist people would most likely be impressed. Can’t say I’m not surprised it isn’t doing more this week though. I was expecting him to clear 250k with ease.. But like you say, he is always a consistent seller and I can’t envisage this era being any different, so he will sell and stream plenty in the end I’m sure
November 4, 20214 yr But that’s the thing streams for him are quite low! As has been the case for the singles, neither ever had amazing streaming numbers in any one week. However, they have both stuck around for ages and been very consistent. I see no reason that won’t be the case with the next single and rest of the album. In the long run, I am sure the sales coming from streaming will look pretty healthy.
November 4, 20214 yr I know ABBA will do huge numbers but I'll be mega shocked if Adele won't do more. I'll dance naked in Trafalgar Square if Adele doesn't do double Abba's figures. :D
November 4, 20214 yr Surely it obvious that Ed Sheerans sales would stabilise at some point in his career, it happens to everyone and will happen to Adele too. Look at Take That, Oasis, Coldplay and many other acts that used to have huge numbers. Edited November 4, 20214 yr by Dannyboy
November 4, 20214 yr Surely it obvious that Ed Sheerans sales would stabilise at some point in his career, it happens to everyone and will happen to Adele too. Look at Take That, Oasis, Coldplay and many other acts that used to have huge numbers. Of course it's just a great excuse to bash him. Adele will do well to get near half the opening week of 25 when 30 is released. Streaming sales just aren't big enough to offset the download and physical decline we are experiencing too. Add a leveling off plus the general decline in sales and you get where we are today.
November 4, 20214 yr People debating which Ed album is the best when they're all the same colour of inoffensive, GP-pandering beige. I have to laugh.
November 4, 20214 yr I think the point with Ed's numbers is, that even the streaming numbers aren't that brilliant FOR HIM, like Steve201 and GTH said. Coldplay had great first week sales but without great streaming, they lost over 85% week-on-week.
November 4, 20214 yr That is certainly not something I hear very often lol, × seems to be generally regarded as his best from fans and non-fans alike. Yeah very much so. I just really hate all of Sing, Thinking Out Loud & Photograph (3 of his worst ever songs) and don't think much of the album tracks compared with his other ones. Don't & Bloodstream are big highlights at least.
November 4, 20214 yr This thread is gonna get to 50 pages if instead of talking about the Mids people start discussing their personal (bizarre) taste on Ed songs lol
November 4, 20214 yr Maybe should open an Ed Sheeran thread on here to discuss it instead as none of this is relevant to Friday Chart Predictions lol
November 4, 20214 yr Don't see the problem, it's natural discussion will drift from time to time. It's not like it's a full discography rate going on. There's little engagement when it's just "oh wow close #1 battle" or "hope X makes the top 10". Or shall we rehash all the "dirty tactics" which dominated the thread a few weeks back :P
