Oh dear me!

Mabel moving up quite quickly now. What is it about Xmas and loads of covers as ballads!?

The track itself is a timeless classic. Pair that up with a current singer, a huge festive period and one of the most popular fast food restaurants and people just lap it up regardless of whether it's good or not.

True though I thought last years had the advantage of being less well known to help it whereas Mabels effort is already a very well known track.

I'm not sure I would agree that 'Forever Young' was significantly less well known than 'Time After Time' (at least among the streaming demographic). It has 329 million streams on Spotify compared to 405 million for 'Time After Time', not a big gap and both extremely high for older songs. Not to mention that there was that Jay-Z/Mr Hudson song which sampled it that was a top 10 hit a few years ago. (edit: a bit more than 'a few' years ago now, oops I am getting old xox)

I don't see why being less well-known would be an advantage anyway. The most successful John Lewis advert songs were not exactly obscure in their original forms :P

I happen to quite like Mabel's version of 'Time After Time' although I realise I'm firmly in the minority there. Surely it's just inoffensive at worst?

Where do you find the top 200 itunes chart given that Kworb only goes down to 100?
The version on the album is still album only (I don't think iTunes allows 10+ minute songs to be downloaded separately, they're always album-only by default), the one that's appeared in the iTunes chart now is a newly released live acoustic performance which clocks in at 9:30.

Looks like she is trying to secure that Billboard #1 and realised she could not get any iTunes sales :kink:

There are two new digital singles of it as well that just have the 10 minutes version (one explicit, one clean) but they're currently £10.99 each!!!!!!! I'm assuming that's an error and they will be changed at some point soon.

I really think she could have been #1 (and maybe still could) if they released that properly

22. Taylor Swift - All Too Well (Sad Girl Autumn Version) [Recorded at Long Pond Studios]

34. Lost Frequencies & Calum Scott - Where Are You Now

All Too Well reduced to 59p - she’s trying for the double.

A bit too late sadly but if she was so focused in here like in the US she could have done it.

a check to Amazon to have the song added to playlists would have easily ensured the #1
