January 15, 20223 yr Author Not bad but I thought E1 was stronger! These dolls had marginally more charisma though.
January 15, 20223 yr Quite a big step down for me from the first episode, almost all my faves were in the first group With regards to the judging, I don’t really get how Daya was critiqued for not “showing who she is” when like half the girls in this group just lipsynced to songs that weren’t there’s. I don’t know who Jasmine is from that performance anymore than who Daya is. Like yes Jasmine and Jorgeous gave better performances but that critiqued didn’t really make any sense only aimed at one of them
January 15, 20223 yr I feel like i liked this group more but the other talent show was way better. I really love Angeria and Jorgeous, both of them so effortlessly own the screen when they're on, Maddy seems really sweet and DeJa is lovely! Camden is impressing me more than I expected also, Daya and Jasmine I got less from so far. Angeria easily won that episode for me, as far as lipsyncs go I feel like the original songs always are much better because whilst it is still a lipsync, you get to know the queen so much more. I'd rather they had to do something that wasn't a lipsync for the talent show though, they have to do those all season anyway! I agree that "we didn't get to know you" was a stupid critique for Daya too, if you lipsync to someone else's song they can't get to know any of them?! I'm... kind of uncomfortable with how they're tackling Maddy's airtime? She doesn't seem to want to be defined by being straight yet they're so desperate to use her as a storyline or a kick-off to some drama. She seems nervous to be honest and out of her depth, I hope she can get past that, I don't think it helps immediately being used as a storyline and them bringing up something she didn't want to define her. On a lighter note she had the best runway *.*
January 15, 20223 yr I loved Maddy’s runway concepts but the flats and the makeup were ROUGH. For me it was far and away Angeria as the best runway and the star of the episode but Jorgeous and Camden both did a good job and Deja killed the lipsync!
January 16, 20223 yr 2nd episode was very disappointing compared to the first episode, no real stand outs for me. Although I liked Lady Camden and Maddys talent and runways, Anjeria, Daya and Jorgeous were full of personality at least. The other 2 didn’t really do it for me.
January 17, 20223 yr The Daya critiques were so f***ing brutal. You can get set back so much mentally. Maybe it’s good she was eliminated first. Yet Angeria is doing the whole polished pageant thing giving us nothing new. And winning. Drag race US is becoming old with the same tropes and same winners each time. :( Edited January 17, 20223 yr by Bdelita
January 17, 20223 yr Daya was probs my fave as well :( I like Maddy too but that's the only two I'm really rating from the second batch. I feel like this is gonna be like DRUK3, maybe we need a break from drag race bc I'd rather that and have fewer seasons that are great and enjoyable the way earlier seasons were rather than having so many series that are just not hitting the mark anymore
January 17, 20223 yr oh i disagree, i think this season is stacked with likeable queens ! much more so than s13 anyway. i have convinced myself that daya and orion are coming back. it doesn’t make sense at this point in the franchise to eliminate people in a split première if it’s not for some kind of gag. if so, i can see daya coming back and doing pretty well.
January 17, 20223 yr Author For me this is the strongest season since 12! I'm enjoying 'crazy Ru' too although I think it's probably not intentional for us to be horrfied watching through our fingers

The only one applying to your opinion in this season is Daya Betty looking the same as Crystal methyd :kink:

On a lighter note she had the best runway *.* That's what I felt as well, not surprised but still disappointing to see the producers are trying to make this into a "thing". Hopefully it was just the first episode and it won't be like this every time because that will get old very fast. Maddy looked very uncomfortable about it indeed. So far I'm obsessed with sixth Spice Girl Lady Camden, very talented and fun. Angeria was fab as well! Such a fun personality and gorgeous drag. All the lip syncs in the talent show was a bit boring though.. Jorgeous looks good, but not much personality, felt like one of those obvious Instagram queens.
January 17, 20223 yr I have to say I really don't understand the critique I'm seeing that there are too many seasons and the show should have a break, nobody is forcing you to watch any of the seasons if you feel like you're bored of it. People say it when new countries announce a season too and it's like... why shouldn't they have their own franchise just because you don't want to watch another one? People who watch Britain's Got Talent wouldn't complain that Bulgaria's Got Talent starts too soon after Britain's Got Talent. The only one applying to your opinion in this season is Daya Betty looking the same as Crystal methyd :kink: Yeah I agree, the look in terms of the makeup is already there and I feel like her personality is kinda similar too, her aesthetic I think is a bit more proto-punk safety pin which would have been interesting to see but she was by far the weakest of the lipsync performances we saw so she was never going to stand out when she already had that immediate comparison to someone who recently did so well. I think anyone who does someone else's song is gonna stand out less than Kornbread or Angeria introducing themselves with an original song, but Jorgeous and Jasmine were so much dynamic and stronger in their performances. I'm 50/50 on whether a talent show is a good premiere for a normal season. I feel like it works better on All Stars where you already know the queens, because as said before critiques like "this doesn't show who you are" on the first episode you've seen someone are so bizarre, because how do you know?! I think I'd go for a double Rumix premiere like last year and then a Ball or a hometown runway like Drag Race UK premieres, that way everyone gets a shot at a performance challenge and a looks challenge and it's two challenges where you can definitely put your own personality or aesthetic into them. That's what I felt as well, not surprised but still disappointing to see the producers are trying to make this into a "thing". Hopefully it was just the first episode and it won't be like this every time because that will get old very fast. Maddy looked very uncomfortable about it indeed. Yeah maybe it was just because it was the premiere but I hate how you can tell she's uncomfortable, because genuinely she just seems like such a pure person who is genuinely there for her love of drag.
January 18, 20223 yr I couldn't disagree more tbh. The only one applying to your opinion in this season is Daya Betty looking the same as Crystal methyd :kink: Perhaps I need to wait until the queens actually show themselves more but so far the winners are pageant queen #56 and Silky v2.0. They are both good and Angeria in particular had the best number but I’ve seen it all before. Neither of them make me feel excitement or surprise me.

Yeah maybe it was just because it was the premiere but I hate how you can tell she's uncomfortable, because genuinely she just seems like such a pure person who is genuinely there for her love of drag. That’s a little bit of a broad and insensitive statement that we should stop watching instead of critiquing if we don’t like the fact it’s drag race overload these days. Yeah, that’s true. It’s easier said than done though. 1. it can feel overwhelming to having to watch everything in order to feel included and 2. a show you once thought was your safe haven is now going full speed ahead into the mainstream and anything can happen there. Visibility triggers all sorts of fears that most of us queer people (especially not gen Zs) might not be ready to face so quickly. At least that’s what I’m feeling.
January 18, 20223 yr It hurts me to say that drag race going worldwide is making me feel uncomfortable just because the show has been such a safe space. Now it might get invaded by the straights who won’t truly respect or understand this and it won’t be one part of my culture and myself I identify with so effortlessly. And it could be THE one thing for some people.
January 18, 20223 yr Perhaps I need to wait until the queens actually show themselves more but so far the winners are pageant queen #56 and Silky v2.0. They are both good and Angeria in particular had the best number but I’ve seen it all before. Neither of them make me feel excitement or surprise me. Is she Silky 2.0 purely because she’s a plus-sized black girl- because if you compare the first episodes of Kornbread and Silky there’s extremely little to compare other than that? I remember when Silky got cast she was- “the new Latrice”
January 18, 20223 yr Angeria is IMMEDIATELY my favourite of the 14. The pageant polish of Jaida with the charm of Chi Chi, two of my favourites of all time. She feels like a blend of so much of what I love to watch on this show and I smile every time she opens her mouth. Such a charming queen
January 18, 20223 yr angeria is an absolute icon and that’s all i have to say on that. her runway look was jaw dropping!!!
August 1, 20222 yr Just catching up with season 14 now. Such a great 2 premiere episodes! I think this season has some of the highest quality dancing queens overall for a series? So many great dancers! For the first episode I really liked Kornbread, Willow Pill, Kerry & Bosco. The second episode I really liked Angeria, Lady Camden and Jasmine - her spin split was so stunning! I also really liked Maddy's runway concept - I'm a sucker for a camp/silly runway! Was sad to see Orion and Daya go. I thought they both had quite a lot of potential, so shame that we had 2 eliminations in the premiere episodes.
