Lauren Spencer-Smith is in contention for a #1 single with Fingers Crossed, expect Sacrifice and a few more tracks from The Weeknd to make an impact also. Potentials debuts include Central Cee's Retail Therapy and David Kushner's Miserable Man, plus there's new singles from Father John Misty, alt-J, Ella Henderson, Jonas Blue, Maren Morris and Halsey

The Weeknd kicks off the year with a brand new album Dawn FM (it'd be his third #1 if he can knock off Ed Sheeran), along with another big release from Gunna with DS4EVER. There's also new music from Twin Atlantic, Spector, RuPaul, Gupi and Burial

Breakdown of the week

- Saturday: Some information may be posted on social media but it is likely to be missing most streaming data and is unrepresentative.

- Sunday: Official First Look Chart on Radio 1 from 6-7pm. Please do not post spoilers on the forum in advance as this ruins the countdown for any listeners.

- Monday: OCC Top 100 from 5:45pm

- Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one.

- Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed.

- Thursday: See Tuesday.

Other notes (please read)

- You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod).

- Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue.

- Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored. Any chart requests between No. 41 to 100 will not be answered after Monday's update.

- To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads.

I predict that either Lauren Spencer-Smith will get her first number one, or The Weeknd will get his second number one. Adele top 3, and Gayle top 5.

My prediction:

1. Adele: Easy On Me

2. Lauren: Fingers Crossed

3. The Weeknd: Sacrifice

4. GAYLE: ABCDFU

I think Lauren will get #1 but can see it just being a one week #1 with either The Weeknd or Gayle getting it the following week.

Or three weeks of Adele at #1 with Gayle, Lauren and The Weeknd stuck at #2 behind respectively.

Imagine the OCC shooting themselves in the foot like that oof.

I feel like Lauren won't get the #1 this week. She's already falling quickly down the itunes chart so I think she'll chart in the top 5, but i don't think she'll be #1

Possibly a bit of a jesy nellson situation, high top 10 for a week before falling out the chart fairly quickly.

Edited by Conorw

iTunes is kinda irrelevant though - it’s all about whether Lauren builds further on streaming, holds steady or falls. Based on Thursday - Friday it seemed she was stalling a bit but we’ll know more tomorrow.

I wouldn’t discount Gayle at this point as her lead version is much closer to Adele on Spotify than it was this time last week.

Unfortunately I can definetly see that :(. They were silly to have allowed the reset as Gayle, Lauren and The Weeknd reaching #1 would've brought them much more attention.

I think it seems like Adele's gonna hold onto this.

Hope not. I’d rather have Ed Sheeran at #1 over Adele

For real.

Imagine if Adele stays there for three weeks and then the Ed/Taylor duet drops the week it goes back to ACR and their dual monopoly of #1 continues with no end in sight…

I would kinda love that just for the drama.

Easy On Me is still my favourite out of all the contenders so am happy for that to stay at #1 till something better comes along.

Gayle has the sales advantage, Adele is likely the end of week #1 and Lauren was strongest at the start of the week so not sure who’ll be First Look #1
