Talking shit about an artists music or even their public persona on a music forum is different than taking thinly veiled pops at other members of the forum.

Of course it's always best to have a healthy and rational debate about things but they're still different ballparks.

The problem is it's a small minority constantly taking the same shit! OK, they don't like the guy or don't like his music but they don't need to keep attacking him!!

I tend to agree it’s the same 3 poster who make the same comments every week, it becomes tiresome and doesnt add to the discussion apart from being weirdly annoyed by him, Ed must live rent free in their head!

Ed's not going to read your comments defending him, save your breath.

tbh the whole thing is undercut every time someone brings up Hypothetical Sheeran. Like, if you have enough legitimate dirt on him, why weaken your case by imagining up (and getting mad about) things that you think he might do?

To be clear, I'm not a hater of Ed Sheeran - I have had his songs on my playlists even now (OG is pretty great). It's just that his opportunism in terms of getting chart success and going the easiest way possible is something else and it's hilarious. Like who else would HIMSELF contact LadBaby to get them record a cover of a recently released song just because he knows they are going to be number one  The way that he played the charts last year brought him two "extra" number ones hindering the fact that "=" has slightly underperformed as an album.

If you think that equals HATING him, then I guess I am a hater.

Also, I don't understand how people think I hate [iNSERT ARTIST X] because I love Lady Gaga

don't think he's got to perform 2 songs at the Brits award and get a fake songwriter of the year award before

Myself I see it 100% the other way, the same 3 people defending Ed Sheeran like it they were the man himself

The whole Brits thing is fake to some extent though. The big names win awards just because they’re big names. I don’t see Adele’s 3 awards as any more meaningful than Ed’s 1.

I’m a massive chart nerd and therefore I admire Ed’s chart opportunism, even though I have mixed feelings about his music. Yes the LadBaby thing was a bit much but I guess he really didn’t want to lose the Christmas Number 1 that he was otherwise going to have with “Merry Christmas”. Given that “Merry Christmas” was the biggest non ancient song out there over Christmas you could argue that he and Elton “deserved” the Christmas #1 in some form.

Is it not possible that his explanation that he didn't want to look like the bad guy trying to spoil the party by going up against Ladbaby, is actually true? And that he thought it would be fun, and a nice thing to do?

What it is is just a constant loads of posts from bitter people with double standards and it is boring.

You all know we can read artists forums on here right? So when you post in them begging your favourite artist to release a CD single, remix, add a rapper to a song, release 67 more formats or do a 10 minute medley at the Brits, then come to the main forum and slate Ed for doing such things you just look like a complete tool.

You should post in the Kylie forum not just lurk!

You once actually accused me of this directly, I challenged you to find a post of mine where I've supposedly "begged for more formats"

Surprise surprise, you couldn't.

P.S. I'd still be calling my faves desperate if they were giving away their (purported) signature for 99p. :)

What's wrong with going for lots of no.1s (especially on a chart forum)? Every week there seems to be a huge race in the album chart for the no.1 with discounting, signed products, cassettes, you name it.

And every single no.1 of Ed's (apart from that Ladbaby thing) is a genuine massive hit in its own right. It's not like they are 'non' number 1s.

Sure loads of artists would want the no.1s Ed gets but they just aren't capable as they don't have the mainstream appeal Ed does.

Yeh you’d think from the comments that they were present when they were talking the strategy. They weren’t though so a lot of this is assumption. We all know if you say something though times the sheep will begin to believe your BS!

Hope HAZEY stays Top10.

Not really a fan of Trap but it's so interesting to hear a song in my native accent!

The only Beatles track i can think of that had scouse in it was Polythene Pam.

I completely get it, we all want our favourite to be as successful as possible I'm the same. Kylie milks her fans to within an inch of their lives any way, as do most artists these days they just aren't as successful as Ed. It is what it is but constantly slating him for things everyone else favourite does or they wish they were doing just looks really bitter and sad.

I don't think certain posters realise how ridiculous they come across.

Still Brickin' (who features on Digga D's 'Pump 101') was in last week's top 10 and is also a Scouse Rapper so Hazey 2 weeks behind him! Like buses you wait for ages and then 2 arrive at once.

Honest question, why do you care? Even if there are "double standards" and posters come across as "ridiculous", so what? Why try and police things?

Because it is a double standard that comes from certain mods too. You'll get posts deleted for questioning 'tactics' of Little Mix ect but anything is fair game when said against Drake, Ed and a few others. One mod in particular should be stripped of any power on this forum.

And oddly both being helped by Digga D of all people, as he is presumably the biggest draw out of the features on the remix of 'Packs And Potions' that's (probably) giving it the push to the top 10. Who knew he had such an affinity for Liverpool?
