Me too! The 12-year-old pregnancy angle feels daring but still realistic enough so I am intrigued to see how it will unfold. Happy that 2023 has started with a Lacey Turner heavy episode

I wonder if Whitney is actually pregnant after all then? She mentioned last week that her first scan was in the new year and Lily’s name was thrown up as a candidate when Whitney and Stacey did their tests. Though in real life, Whitney would have had the pregnancy confirmed by a doctor by this point.

And who is the father? I’m assuming it’ll be Denzel or Nuggett but I’ve seen suggestions it could be Ricky Mitchell though I’m not convinced he would be sexually active at this point.

The pacing seemed off in that episode, like scenes were cut out (the sudden jump to the hospital etc) but overall, a GREAT start to 2023. I literally said as the episode started "I wish Lily was given more of a role in the soap" because I think she's brilliant but... I did not expect THAT at the end

The scene with Lily, Stacey and Jean in the bed was pretty special too (moreso in retrospect knowing what we know now).

A good start to the year, now can it continue!?

Lily has shown great potential as a character so the pregnancy storyline should give her real time to shine

I'm expecting some great scenes with Lily and Stacey.

The actress who plays Lily has always been good so much so that I haven’t worried about her being given a pregnancy storyline at this age because she’ll be able to carry it off. In fact, with Stacey, Martin, Eve, Jean and Kat to play alongside, this story has the potential for lots of amazing acting.

Still nothing on the father, I wonder when we will find out?

I doubt they would go down a sexual abuse route without announcing it in advance. It would be pretty distasteful to use something like that as a 'shock twist'.

So it will probably be someone in her own age group; Ricky Jr, Nugget or Denzel.

I've seen some murmurs online with people saying it's Freddie, I really bloody hope not

That would be absolutely awful and so bad taste. I really hope that’s not the case.

I echo that the actress who plays Lily was brilliant in this. She acted in exactly the way a 12 year old would and it was heartbreaking to watch. The writing seemed spot on as well.

It crossed my mind that Freddie might at least be suspected. His scenes last night - where he was talking about how much he wanted to be with his family, that he loved Jean - could be showing how much he likes the new home he has, and then it all comes crashing down when he is accused of something?

I don't think for a second that they would go in that direction, and as much as Freddie annoys the hell out of me, I don't think he deserves to have that storyline thrown at him.

Perhaps it's not him, but the investigation suspwcts him, aa the newest insert into the house?
Oh... my only gripe was how Janine was arrested. So Rickey rings them and they turn up and arrest her straight away before having any conversation about what she has been accused of? So just arrested on the say so of her brother's phone call?

Totally ridiculous. It was he said, she said, and a family Christmas argument. It wouldn't even go past a little conversation at the station. No sirens blaring, no urgent appearance...

She owns the Vic. This is a fact. She was the victim of two attempted murders that night - Linda jumping in her car and fighting her whilst driving, and Shirley strangling, with Linda watching. She is pregnant. The police would come for two of the three, with national outrage following, and it wouldn't be for Janine  Oh, it makes it worse that it is the ex-wife and mother-in-law who tried to kill her - TWICE IN ONE NIGHT!!

Terrible writing.

So we know the identity of the father already! The raw storytelling has been compelling to watch so I'm glad it wasn't sensationalised into more of a long-term "who is the father?" angle and didn't point the finger at an adult who wasn't involved, like Freddie as mentioned. Intrigued to see the reactions from Sam, Jack, Amy etc.

It’s good to get it out there now. If they weren’t going down the abuse route, then best to remove the idea of it as soon as possible. I was leaning towards it being Ricky Jnr funnily enough because it’s one of the only reasons I could imagine Sam not going off to Germany with Ricky the elder. Jean has been stealing scenes left right and centre as well discussing her memorable band names like ‘DC-AC’.

I do need this Keeble stuff done now though. It’s a shame that’s she’s done as a character and we won’t see her again after this but I also need these Phil gangster stories to end.

Agreed, I'm thankful for the flashback episode as it brought me back to watching the show but I haven't really cared for this storyline since :drama:

I agree about the gangster Phil stories needing to end, i think that card is well overplayed and it is no longer believable, it was 20 years ago but not now, and i would have preferred for Phil to have continued working with Keanu rather than the way they went with it. There is room for a new bad boy on the square and if its going to be Nish i dont think it will add up to much so hopefully someone new fits the role. Jean yet again stealing scenes the whole time, a great character and actress who i always find so easy to buy into, i do love Stacey aswell but Jean has that great balance that she can nail so many different types of scenes.
