Agreed! Especially when the camera was lingering on Bobby for a while when he was on the phone. I wonder if he'd get another recast or go back to one of the previous Peter actors (well, minus Ben Hardy, I doubt he would go back now his star has risen a lot since the show) - not sure about the latest one as he was axed under Clenshaw only last year, would be interested to see Thomas Law back

I wonder if he'll be back with Lauren :o I know Jac Jossa has said a few times she'd like to return so if we do get Peter back I'd imagine she won't be too far behind.

They clearly hinting at a Peter return and it should be with Thomas Law as actor. Probably they should recast Cindy junior too as they are the only children of Cindy that are alive.

It would make sense to have them back and build up the family again as its needed, Cindy and Kathy living together will be fun!

It was a great reveal but I do think we’d have figured it out without the leak anyway as there were plenty of hints (and we’d have figured out it’d have been a previous female character who was off screen since the early 2000s—and there aren’t really any other options bar Cindy)

If Peter is to return, please make him a decent character this time. There’s also scope for Cindy Jnr to return.

Yeah Cindy Jr returning definitely makes sense, another recast with Mimi Keene's star also rising massively (young EE talent doing very well recently, Louise's actress is another that comes to mind)

Interesting, I enjoyed her cameo at Dot's funeral so would be here for more Lauren if the scope was there. Just remembered that episode was the last time we saw Ian too! Really looking forward to how the show moves forward, especially tomorrow, it really is on fire at the moment (Panesar stuff aside :kink:)

Tonight soap legend, Michelle Collins, made her come back to #EastEnders reprising her role as the legendary Cindy Beale, 25 years after her character died off-screen as she was revealed as Rose Knight, George Knight’s long lost wife.

Cindy will return alongside EastEnders’ longest standing cast member and former husband, Ian Beale, played by Adam Woodyatt, but just how and why is all to be revealed tomorrow night.

Whilst the circumstances relating to her ‘death’, reappearance, and reunion with ex-husband Ian are yet to be revealed, their explosive return is sure to send shockwaves around The Square not least for the Knights who have no idea just where ‘Rose’ has been all these years…

Speaking on her return, Michelle Collins said: “For over 25 years I’ve constantly been asked ‘are you going back’ and now finally I can say I am! It’s an honour to be asked to reprise the role of Cindy Beale, a character that has really never left me, and just like the old days, where Cindy goes, drama usually follows.”

Adam Woodyatt added: “It’s weird saying Ian’s back as it never really felt like he was gone, Ian still existed just not in Walford. Now that he is back, he needs to avoid Sharon cooking carbonara and his mum getting him cufflinks for Christmas!”

Chris Clenshaw, Executive producer added: “It’s an honour to not simply welcome back just one EastEnders icon in the name of Adam Woodyatt, but to welcome Michelle Collins back to Walford to reprise her role as the legendary Cindy Beale after twenty-five years is somewhat surreal. Cindy’s been sorely missed from our screens, and we’re delighted that she’ll be returning to Walford, alongside Ian, permanently later this year. Now everyone knows that she is in fact Rose Knight, secrets are set to be revealed as viewers will learn about the circumstances surrounding their return, including the million dollar question - how is Cindy alive when she was declared dead in 1998 – and later this summer Ian and Cindy’s comeback will be nothing less than explosive for The Square.”

Definitely think they are setting up a Peter return as well and it makes total sense really and I think a Cindy Jr return would work as well, having all of the remaining kids around would really boost that family unit. I do really appreciate the angle they've taken of giving Cindy an established link with a whole new family unit from the off though. The story has been great so far and another piece keeping the show in a great position at the moment. I do think it would have been better if they'd managed to fully embargo it though, i'm sure there would have been fan speculation that it was somebody we knew and her name would have been top of the list but it still would have been even more of a MOMENT.

I do think it’s genius bringing Cindy back. Not only have you got all the drama with the Knight family. You will also have the drama between Bobby and Cindy. A Peter return I think is coming and I wonder if that’s why he was axed last year to make way for a better actor to play him.

Got a feeling they're going to kill off Finlay in tonight's episode. It is about a year since he started so would make sense him being axed at the end of his contract. I just don't get Suki last week feeling guilty about getting Nish arrested for something he didn't do last week and then this week she's ordering a hit on Finlay?

Agreed, after at first thinking "what's the point?" when it was first leaked by The Sun, I've gradually become more on board and now I'm so here for it! As you say, linking her to the Knights is genius and gives the character reason to stay in the show after the shock of her return and initial drama that brings.

I'm still going to need Jane to come back. She feels even more integral now: she's the person that acted as mother to Peter and Lucy but also the person who helped cover for Bobby after he killed Lucy, so there must be conflicting thoughts from Cindy about that.

I am not surprised that Young Cindy went on to get loads of other acting offers. She was the best young actress on EE, and they kept putting her to waste and then axed her. She coulda been thr new Janine! Meanwhile they give an actor like Vinny loads of lines...

Is that guy on steroids still stalking Denise?

Meanwhile, OG Cindy!!! They should have fully embargoed this story. Not doing so was a massive risk, as we saw with the Sun finding out nayway.

And oooh Cindy, you came and you gave without taking, oooh CIIINDYYYY!!!!!! She's BACK!!! The Kiss with a Rose song playing too was great!

Yeah a Jane return would be brilliant. I honestly thought that’s what we were gearing up for when Ian showed up at Dot’s funeral and he was on the phone to someone.

I'm sure I read that Finlay is still in the show next week as he suspects Vinny trying to kill him (as opposed to Eve being the target) but it could all be a red herring
OMG! I have no words for tonight’s episode!!! They’re really pulled it outta the bag!!!
OMG :o love that episode, it explains everything, and Peter not such a wet blanket anymore
So glad they did a reverse recasting with Peter , hopefully he returns to the square too  Amazing episode! Eastenders is truely back to his high standards
