'Stay' is lovely but there was loads of classics throw in so not totally surprised it's out so low really. Oops at Belinda too after doing surprisingly quite well in lots of people's votes in previous rounds. I liked it before but it sounded much better than I thought after taking another listen off the back of this.

Had not heard the Belinda song before and it didn't sound like anything particularly special checking it out now.

I liked 'Stay' at the time but it's not really a song I feel much desire to hear again, ballads aren't really Rihanna's strong suit.

Belinda out already, my fave #4 single ever :( I demand a recount! I am actually genuinely surprised to see it leave so early because I saw people scoring it quite well so I'm not sure how it ultimately finished that low, but I'm just happy it finished in the top 50! That George Harrison guitar solo it features is just something else

That’s one of my favourites from U2, sad to see it out in last place. Belinda’s track is a great singalong pop track too, would’ve been happy to see that higher.

Rihanna's Stay has one of the best bridges ever

47. Edwyn Collins - A Girl Like You 1014pts

Writer - Edwyn Collins

Top scores - Achabaan 50, AH Gold 50, Jester 49

Low scores - StoneDragon 3, Jade 3, Boymetworld91 4, ready for it 4, garyfeld 4, Brer 4

Average score - 21.6

Edwyn Collins started out as the lead singer of Orange Juice who are best known for 'Rip It Up' which reached number 8 in 1983. From 1995, 'A Girl Like You' is his only top 30 single as a solo artist. The drum track is sampled from the 1965 top 3 hit, '1-2-3', by Len Barry. Edwyn survived a cerebral haemorrhage in 2005 and released his ninth solo album three years ago.

This is mirroring my list quite well so far  3/4 in my bottom 5 and U2 not that much higher - I am fond of 'With Or Without You' though

This is the song that won the semi-final tie-break over November Rain to scrape through to the final. It was the second of nine top 40 singles for the Australian duo. It reached number 1 in the US and became the first single to spend its first 52 weeks inside the top 30 of the Billboard chart.

Eek, I'm regretting giving Truly Madly Deeply as many points as I did in that semi (the weekend after I voted, I got to the 98/99 section of the #4s playlist and decided I definitely preferred Kiss Me which I'd put below it), November Rain deserved to be in the final instead but never mind.

45. Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday 1031pts

Writer - Roy Wood

Top scores - Roba 47, Daan 45, Jason 42, King Rollo 42

Low scores - blacksquare 1, Bjork 1, ready for it 1, JulianT 1

Average score - 21.9

This is the only song from 1970 to 1983 to make the final but its presence here is more likely down to it being played every Christmas on the radio and in shops. It was one of six top 10 singles for Wizzard over a two year period. Roy Wood also had a further nine top 10 hits with his two other groups or on his own.

The Edwyn Collins song was another one I hadn't heard before and didn't particularly care for it when I did hear it now (and I've since completely forgotten how it goes again oops)

It was a little hard to decide where to rank Wizzard against the other songs  it is one of the better Christmas classics though.

Always loved that Edwyn Collins song and love a bit of Savage Garden too, they split up way too early (although that did lead to Darren Hayes giving us his excellent first few solo albums so swings and roundabouts really).

Wizzard is obviously played to death at this point but it's one of the better Christmas staples.

Savage Garden was another one in my bottom 5 so almost all of them out now  (just 'Don't Stop The Music' remains)

maybe would've given 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' more points later in the year, 'See My Baby Jive' is close enough for the other 10/11 months :teresa:

Leave a light on is such a great song. Shame it’s gone out so early. Also love Truly Madly Deeply - two of my top songs going out early oops

A Girl Like You and Truly Madly Deeply are decent

Wizzard should have never been top 50, sure it was my lowest ranked song

Aerosmith were formed in 1970 but didn't have a hit single in the UK until 1989. Written for the 1998 film, 'Armageddon', this song is still their only top 10 hit.
