It might be interesting to have a topic about when people really become fans, even casual ones, of Gaga? What was the first Lady Gaga song, album or event that made you a fan?

I remember 'Just Dance' coming out but it was 'Poker Face' that turned me into an overnight stan, that clicked with me a lot more! I watched the music video for the first time on the TV and was in awe of her - instantly wanted to know more and soon bought a 'The Fame' CD and poster from HMV  I would've only been 11 at that time and she was a huge role model for me growing up. My avatar when I first joined BuzzJack was a still from the 'Poker Face' video due to that sentimental value and remained there for years *.*

For me it was instant. I am one of the original Little Monsters! I very much liked Just Dance but I LOVED Poker Face eventually and it became a signature song for me. Then with every single and album that came my love for her grew more and more.

The music videos of The Fame Monster cemented that she'd be with me for life and obviously Born This Way changed my life and she became more than my idol - she became the most important person in my life, bar none!

I did notice Just Dance, but it was "just a fun track". I think Paparazzi (video and the VMAs) really started the Little Monster progress that hasn't stopped ever since. I actually remember anticipating Chromatica MORE than some of her previous albums.

Similar to me then! And yes your Poker Face avatar is iconic and I always associate it with you now

The moment I heard her album when it leaked in summer 2008. I quite liked her at Just Dance and was interested to see what else she could do, but I was like "wow, this is f***ing phenomenal" when I heard that album and obsessively listened to it over and over again for months, telling anyone who would listen IRL about her.

It's crazy to think in late 2008 I was praying she's get just a little bit of success and recognition, and what became of her just a few months later.

It was very instant for me. I remember hearing Just Dance for the very first time around April/May 2008 and something immediately clicked with me and I basically was a full stan right from the start, hoping so much that Just Dance would become some kind of hit. Little did I know she would be the biggest pop star in the world in a years time.

I would say that 2009-2011 was definitely my biggest stan period for her. I am still a very big fan but the obsession I had back then was on another level.

At the time I lived with someone who heard about her before Just Dance blew up. Loooooved that song and was immediately hooked.

I have this memory of her appearing on the Friday Night Project, when Alan Carr, Justin Lee Collins and Catherine Tate did a hilarious parody of Just Dance

These were definitely the peak years. I followed every single thing she did and she was ALL I spoke about for like 2 years :kink:

I remember seeing the video for Just Dance around July/August 2008 because Colby O’Donis was in it and was like “ooh a new artist that Akon discovered? I’m in” :P Listened to Beautiful Dirty Rich in December, got obsessed, hopped on the Gaga train and never looked back.

The Fame era is so funny looking back, I remember being in 8th grade obsessing over LoveGame when Just Dance had already peaked and Poker Face was just starting to climb. I also thought Starstruck would get pushed bc Flo Rida was about to have a huge hit in 2009 and the cross promo would have worked wonders. Boy was I wrong :P

Yeah early half of 08 for me too with 'Just Dance'. I must say for some strange reason I didn't think much of 'Poker Face' on first listen and then when she got big in the chart at the start of 09 it clicked immediately and I loved it (commercial hoe I guess :heehee: ) then 'Paparazzi' came along with that iconic video and that only furthered being a GaGa fan.

And delusional people insist on believing that it wouldn't be a hit. This song would fight Poker Face to be The Fame's biggest hit. Girl wasted a massive hit.

Right from the start for me, Just Dance. I remember seeing the video and a live performance on tv and thinking ‘who is this Lady Gaga?’ For me it was like nothing I’d seen.

I then listened to the album, it may have leaked and was hooked on Poker Face and LoveGame.

It's weird seeing people on Twitter that became fans as late as the Chromatica era and get the excitement of going back through her discography. I think it's really a case of "you had to be there" during 09-11 to fully understand her impact
