April 23, 20223 yr Author I'll be honest not a massive fan of this - particularly the chorus. Maybe it'll grow on me
April 23, 20223 yr This one isn't hitting the spot for me on a couple of plays so far, in fact I think the chorus is actually a little annoying? I hope it grows cause Anyone for You was a really lovely little track.
April 23, 20223 yr This isn’t the Shotgun type hit that he needed But he sure tried to recreate it. -_- Watch him change the title to "Green Green Grass (Blue Blue Sky)" in a few weeks time. Edited April 23, 20223 yr by Voodoo
April 24, 20223 yr This is kinda catchy but not in a good way - it’s like a kids nursery rhyme with the green green green and blue blue blue bits
April 24, 20223 yr I actually really like this! Admittedly certain lyrics in it make it sound like a rewrite of 'Shotgun'. I generally enjoy his music anyway but I really like what he's doing this era - pure joyful summery music. I'm not sure it'll be much of a hit, but I hope it does well for him.
April 25, 20223 yr This has one of the catchiest choruses I've heard in a while but it sounds like a primary school disco song. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad sign for him in terms of success. In 1996 it might have been the former but in 2022 I would imagine the latter.
April 26, 20223 yr "Rewriting Shotgun" is what his label wants his career to be. He needs to stop that vicious cycle.
April 26, 20223 yr I don't think thats true, thats the kinda song he's always done if something all his songs sound a but like nursery rhymes, but thats his thing since day 1 And don't thing he's someone much under pressure for his label or with a huge focus on chart success, especially in singles, he doesn't seem to care that much judging from interviews... I kinda like it that he doesn't play the game and never has features or collaborations, he's kinda the anti-Ed in that sense
April 26, 20223 yr And don't thing he's someone much under pressure for his label or with a huge focus on chart success If that was the case, his label wouldn't bother to press CD singles of 'Anyone for You' and reduce it to 59p on iTunes in an attempt to make it go Top 10.
May 2, 20223 yr I hope it goes top 40 before his album is released. At least the album release will also help it avoid ACR
May 16, 20223 yr Loving this and the Thelma and Louise style video. Get that it’s a bit of a nursery rhyme vibe but it’s cute and sounds fresh too. Perfect for early summer!
May 17, 20223 yr This is growing on me the more I hear it while still being a bit corny. Happy for it to be going top 20 for him.
May 24, 20223 yr This is... actually pretty bad? Even aside from the nursery rhyme chorus, the rest of the song sounds much more generic and bland than I'd normally expect from a George Ezra song. I didn't like 'Anyone For You (Tiger Lily)' as much as his previous albums' big hits either but 'Green Green Grass' is significantly worse. :(
May 29, 20223 yr I liked this originally, but it's really grown off me. It kinda grates on me now, but I'm pleased it's doing well for him. Edited May 29, 20223 yr by Jessie Where
June 4, 20223 yr Was weird hearing the "on the day I die" part cut out of the song at the Jubilee replaced by just the music in the back  I'm still not overly mad on this because of the cheesy chorus really. Let's an otherwise catchy song down for me. I'd expect it will go top 10 for him unlike AFT now though as it's climbing faster in places. Edited June 4, 20223 yr by Robasenda
