Good to see someone else voted for my one point single, Hooked On Classics. I thought it might be Chez, knowing his liking for classical music, but I was wrong.

Annie I'm Not Your Daddy was on my shortlist.

Annie I’m Not Your Daddy and Tonight are my favourites from that lot. Hooked On Classics I find too bitty.

Agadoo and The Birdy Song are better remembered than much of the list, so they must have got something right.

I love it! Can’t believe I’m its highest voters at a whopping two points!

Another underrated duet from the 80s blocked by the newest sensation on the block of the time.

NO 126- 9 POINTS

Rain Or Shine Five Star (Voters: Leonardo- 8 points, AH Gold- 1 point)

(#2 for 2 weeks in October 1986 behind “Don’t Leave Me This Way” by Commodores, and “True Blue” by Madonna

lE0SxkK.jpg

12 top 20 singles in a little over 3 years but this was as near as they got to No 1

Hold Me Now Johnny Logan (Voter: Gooddelta)

(#2 for 1 week in June 1987 behind “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston

Iv7BMxv.jpg

Second Eurovision win for Logan but this 87 victor couldn’t make it past Whitney to the top.

wellll! The jam, Kid Creole beaten by Agadoo and birdies! This will not do! The Whispers is pretty good, I like Macca's ballad, love that Five Star single, Bitterest Pill one of Weller's best Jams, Brother Beyond is a great pop track, and Annie is just so much fab fun with a classic cruel line: "See if I was in your blood then you wouldnt be so ugly". Annie could get a DNA test to see if her mom was shagging about or her supposed-dad was a mean ol' liar these days.

What a miracle! I didn't lose anything today. :drama:

The Harder I Try is a decent single from that 80s boyband Brother Beyond and Every Beat of My Heart is my fave Rod Stewart single of all time.

looking at the cover, just realised I bought that Paul McCartney single as a kid,

not sure why, not a big favourite of mine :D

still no big losses so far

Aww Rain or Shine, and ‘Hold Me Now’ was close to my votes (36th) low-key one of my fave Eurovision winners.

NO 124- 10 POINTS

With You I'm Born Again Billy Preston & Syretta (Voter: Popchartfreak)

(#2 for 2 weeks in January 1980 behind “Brass In Pocket” by Pretenders)

yaya03E.jpg

The very first No 2 of the decade for a couple of soul legends.

Automatic Pointer Sisters (Voter: Jade- 5 points, Daan- 5 points)

(#2 or 2 weeks in May 1984 behind “The Reflex” by Duran Duran)

z7BTvdi.jpg

Why isn’t the great “Slow Hand” on this list? Well anyway we got this one instead which at least got 2 voters to give it something!

NO 122- 11 POINTS

Don't Worry Be Happy Bobby McFerrin (Voter: Fiesta)

(#1 for 1 week in October 1988 behind “One Moment In Time” by Whitney Houston)

MqgmLpe.jpg

Equal parts earworm and annoying only Fiesta deigned to give it points

Love Changes Everything Michael Ball (Voter: Chartjack2- 10 points, Jimwatts- 1 point)

(#2 for 2 weeks in Febraury/ March 1989 behind “Belfast Child” by Simple Minds and “Too Many Broken Hearts” by Jason Donovan)

ZCazoCa.jpg

A young Michael Ball making a very unusual (for the 80s) return to No 2 after moving down the charts and missing out on the top spot by about 200 copies after leading midweek.

Love Changes Everything by Michael Bolton is quite a nice song but Climie Fisher's song of the same name is better imo!
I thought my 10 pointer would have gone tonight. :o
Surprised Bobby McFerrin only got one vote - admittedly I'm not sure I'd have voted for it either but it is a classic.
haha Jim - we were the only ones with love for MB!

I'm glad someone else voted for him! That song survives everything he's done since, which is quite a feat. Although I hadn't spotted Automatic on the list, otherwise I might have tried to shoehorn it in.

Oh wow one of my votes out already! I really got into 'Automatic' off the back of the Tensnake and Fiora version a couple of years ago, glad I wasn't its only voter.
